The wood stove kept the inside nice and warm during the cool nights. Outside there were Adirondack chairs, a fire pit and charcoal grill. The porta-potty was spotless, and even though we never used the outdoor shower, it was clean and looked very fun. Our weekend package came with a UTV rental. Jamie with Bear Rock took the time to go over everything with the rental, explain the vehicle and what the rules are. He also had trips loaded into the navigation so we could pick from trips that were easy to intermediate. We chose a 4-6 hour loop that took us from Colebrook, into VT, next to Canada and through Pittsburg. We stopped at their main store in Pittsburg, everyone was super nice. It did rain for the second half of the trip, and we were very wet by the time we made it back to the tent, but overall we had a great time. I highly recommend the stay and play package, well worth the money for the experiences you get.

We stayed at Ramblewood Cabins and we're extremely happy that we chose them. We met the owner and his niece that works there and they were the nicest people. They answered all our questions, and we had many because this was our first time staying in a cabin and our first time in that area. They were very helpful and happy to answer the questions. We stayed in Red Spruce 10 and loved that it was away from everybody else, but their cabins at the lake looked beautiful too. If your headed up to Pittsburgh, NH I would highly recommend staying at Ramblewood!

A beautiful campground located on a hill overlooking Lake Salem…read more 80% of the sites are seasonal campers, meaning they leave there RV on site all summer long. This usually means quiet weekdays and crowded noisy weekends. This was the case the two times we camped here. They do have some tent sites for those who dare. Most sites have water and electric. Not so sure on cable/ satellite. The grounds are clean and well cared for. Big fields all mowed are perfect for hiking and walking. Much of the land is open for dog walking and general hiking. Inside the campground, is clean and the property is well maintained. There is a pool, playground, and a small camp store that has ice, wood, and staple groceries. We like this campground for the following reasons: 1. It is really beautiful here. The views are amazing. 2. It is close to town (Newport, and the Canadian border 7 minute drive) 3. Lakes are everywhere! (Salem, Willoughby, Memphremagog, Crystal, Seymour) 4. Close to I-91 5. Wonderful day hiking nearby. 6. The rules here at this campground are reasonable. They don't bust your ass for every little thing. It can get a bit wild on holiday weekends. Some negs: -The bathrooms are old and dirty. Yes its a campground but please update the bathrooms. They are just gross. -Golf carts EVERYWHERE. What happened to just walking? -Dogs must be leashed at all times. Cell phone service believe it or not ,is good here. AT&T.

Along with the lodge/cabin/rental properties on Back Lake, they also have an outrageously good restaurant on site that goes by the name 'The Rainbow Grille'. A recent stay at a lodge/cabin business in Belgrade Lakes region of Maine made me realize what a great value and well run facility Tall Timber is. From the time you pull into the parking area, the well cared for grounds show that they care about the details. The staff is always pleasant and welcome you as one of the family especially when returning year after year. We've always stayed in one of their pet-friendly lakeside cabins in the summer months. The cabins are well cared for and always in good repair. They are well furnished with well-appointed kitchens with cookware & dining ware. Cable TV and internet access is available in the cabin as well. There is no AC but have never had the need for anything more than the provided fans. We always bring our boat with us. They have a public launch on the lake as well as a launch right at the lodge. The docks do not have dedicated shore power but can accommodate plugging in to charge batteries. They also have a small fleet of rental boats as well as a rental pontoon. Pub-style Take-out food is also available from the onsite bar-grille. If you are looking for a relaxing back woods vacation that has all the comforts you need and none that you don't, you need to check this place out. There are 3 main parts of this property and I will review them as such…read more First is the motel. The rooms have all the basics and are comfortable with two beds. Wood paneling, dated but functional décor. I liked having a microwave, mini fridge, and the sheets and towels were clean. However, there was an extremely strong mildew smell in the room. Our travel mates in the room next door had it too and you could even smell it outside if the wind below just right. The carpet felt damp and one room had a window that could not be closed all the way. No A/C, but the fan provided was adequate. Easy parking out front or in back, and room for trailers. Second is the store. Priced fairly, well stocked, has all the essentials you'd need without going into town. Great place to stop while on the sled of ATV. Lastly is the restaurant. It is small and busy so get there early. The food was excellent, large portions and an overall good value. The service was efficient, food came in a reasonable time, the cook and waitstaff made extra effort to make it special for the kids in our group. The rooms at the country club were only a few bucks more, but were booked. I'll give them a shot next time due to the mildew rooms here.

First off, let me just start by saying we went up to Pittsburgh to have a nice relaxing weekend. We…read morestayed in the Evergreen cabin, which we have stayed several times in the past and had a great experience. The Friday night that we arrived there a bad storm came through and wiped the power out which we lost heat and of course, the electricity around 11 PM to roughly 5:30 am which made for a very cold night with no extra blankets. A giant tree fell on top of our cabin, I have to say it was very frightening, and my husband, nor myself got any sleep that night, not knowing if we were safe in that cabin. In the morning I proceeded to call the front desk and make them aware of the tree that had fallen and asked if they could send someone over to check out the structure of the cabin. I also stated that I felt we should receive some compensation because we basically lost a night due to the fear of what had happened to the cabin not to mention it was freezing cold.. They did state they would give me $100 back which I think was not acceptable considering we paid 300 a night. I waited approximately two hours and a young man came looked up at the cabin and basically told us he knew nothing about structure and trees, but he would try to find someone to look at it. Two hours later someone from a tree service pulled up in the road about 100 yards away from the cabin parked for about 20 seconds and drove away. We never heard from front desk again to let us know if the structure was safe and they left the tree on the cabin all day and the following night. Needless to say, it was not relaxing in any way shape or form and they obviously didn't care how we felt about the situation. I will say they did offer us to move to a cabin across the way but at that point if I had to pack everything up and move, I was going home. We specifically picked Evergreen because it's the cabin we had been staying in for years. They are just lucky that we were not injured because things could have been way worse for Tall Timbers. Let me add there was an eight foot overhang on the metal roof that could have let go at any moment... had to be cautious to stay away from the edge of the building!!!
