Amazing shop. Super clean and organized shop. All artists are awesome and very friendly. Have had two tattoos done by Carrie and cannot wait to get more.

These guys are all true artists. It is worth the wait. I am 1/2 way done with my first tattoo with Saint John. I couldn't be happier with the results so far. He nailed what I was looking for and created a beautiful piece of art on my upper arm. Can't wait to go back in 30 days to finish it up. Very clean professional studio. Fun group of people. Highly recommend Saint John.

A tattoo artist should never be chosen on a whim. Spend some time and check out several studios and…read morefind one that appeals to you. I say this, because I am confident that if you see Shane Hart's work and then shop around, you will see for yourself why he is known as one of the premier tattoo artists in the metropolitan area. Shane is an awesome, original and true artist, located in a very non-typical, tattoo studio in the quiet KC suburb of Mission, Kansas. A far cry from the dingy flash art tattoo parlors that I used to see, just outside of military bases, during my time in the service. He is very fair priced for his level of mastery and talent. You get what you pay for, so if you want cheap flash art, go elsewhere, and be happy with your thick lined, sloppy, jailhouse looking tattoo, that I see so many folks bragging about, at the gym. If you appreciate true art, want originality and creativity along with personal meaning and perspective, then you owe it to yourself to go check out Shane's portfolio and see for yourself what he can do for you, all with the latest equipment and techniques. If you have any doubts about this review, then stop by and see his work for yourself. When you book your session, be patient, and let him do his magic with your idea. Then he'll present it to you for approval, and finally, put it to ink. His portrait work is (insert preferred explicative) amazing. He tattooed a WWII portrait of my father, taken in Nice France in 1944 and the replication is lifelike and uncanny. The one of my father was actually a cover of a tattoo he did, back in 1995 or 96, when working at East Coast Al's. It had faded somewhat, due to sun exposure and lack of sunscreen, and in truth, no longer had significant meaning to me. It was an amazing tattoo, for 20 years, but it was time for something new. I wanted something to show my pride in my late father's heroism in WWII. The finished product was a great tattoo, and tribute, and you'd never know it was a cover. Point is, Shane can cover up an old tattoo for whatever your reason; a bad tattoo, faded tattoo, a tattoo of your ex, or an updated creation, just because you want something new. If you've ever seen a bad cover art, you will really appreciate Shane's talent, in this aspect. In my case, there is simply no sign of my former tattoo, (and it was big). I currently have several tattoos by Shane, each with different styles and themes. Even though they are complete, in and of themselves, two of them will have additional ink and new features as he blends subsequent 'chapters' to both themes. There is a reason Shane is booked up, months in advance..so plan ahead. It is worth the wait. I have never taken upon myself to write Yelp review, before now. That speaks for how much I respect Shane's talent. I've just seen a lot of bad tattoo work out there, and I hope by sharing this review, I can help folks, who are searching for that first tattoo experience, or simply searching for a new artist. Educate yourself, and see the differences between various artists. Take time and make the right decision. For me, it was this studio. Not a here today and gone tomorrow tattooist.

I have no choice but to live as a badass in order to not disappoint the tattoo itself. Thank you Devon for raising me to the highest possible level. I originally was thinking about a tiny black dragon and imagine how lame I'd have to be if I'd gone with that? Now I can have a full life. Devon, Luke, and John were a lot of fun to spend hours and hours with and are incredibly talented folks. I miss them so I guess I'll need to start saving up for more ink. Below are some of my favorite things about Headless Hands and my experiences there. In no certain order, I appreciated the following: 1. Not getting food poisoning from Hawaiian Bros. It was close. 2. The preserved bats are my favorite of the oddities. 3. THE SINK!!! It's the best sink I've ever seen in my entire life. Please try it and comment below with your rating. 4. The opportunity to practice karate in a wide open space with an audience. Fantastic. 5. Podcast recommendations were legit and fun. 6. The chance to see a severed cat head. With a bow! Checked that off my bucket list. 7. A hairy cactus that looks like a tiny penis. Absolutely delightful. 8. Comfortable seating. 9. The opportunity to summon a demon via a ouija board. 10. The joy of listening to traumatic life tales. Cannot be understated. 11. Expert level sarcasm. My tattoo experience really leveled up my sarcasm detection and despensing skills and that will, like my tattoo, benefit my entire existence. 12. A gong. Really nice gong. I recommends gonging it. Do yourself a favor and connect with a true artist for your next ink. I highly recommend Devon and would consider giving him my firstborn.

Unfortunately, our experience with the artist Thad was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. My husband has never gotten a tattoo before, and from the beginning there were issues with communication and professionalism. The tattoo stencil was made extremely large, which was never discussed with us beforehand. There was no conversation about sizing beyond the placement being around 3 inches across, the size of text was never discussed. I felt like the size was simply chosen for us without our input. When the stencil was placed, it also looked off-center to me. I spent a minute looking at it carefully, and instead of being understanding, Thad repeatedly insisted it was straight and told me that "if I have to stare that hard then I'm finding reasons to be mad at it," which felt dismissive and gaslighting. I then politely asked if the stencil could be repositioned, which is a completely reasonable request for something permanent. He responded very rudely and condescendingly with, "I'd rather not." I explained that we were paying a lot of money for this and that it was going to be on my husband permanently, and only then did he reluctantly agree. After repositioning it, it still looked slightly crooked to me. At that point, instead of trying to work with us professionally, he immediately said that if we didn't like it he would just refund the deposit. I then asked my husband if he liked it and was sure because I was trying to make sure he was happy with something permanent on his body. Instead of handling the situation professionally, Thad rudely and forcefully pushed giving our money back and ending the appointment altogether, which made the interaction feel hostile and uncomfortable. I've been tattooed by many artists in multiple states and have never once had an artist refuse to reposition a stencil or act inconvenienced by a client wanting placement adjusted. Even if he personally believed it was straight, the professional thing to do would have been to cooperate respectfully and help make the client comfortable. Again, the shop itself is gorgeous and the front desk woman was wonderful, but our experience with this artist was unnecessarily hostile, dismissive, and uncomfortable.
