This was my first tattoo. I'm not very happy with it. I realize it's still healing, but you can tell the parallel lines aren't straight or even and the bottom part is shaky. When the artist was done he covered it immediately and that should've been my first clue to be suspicious, but i didn't really know what to expect. I don't know what exactly went wrong, as when he applied the stencil it looked perfect. I've attached the photo I showed him. I wanted this exact outline/shape just filled in all black. I received a piercing and Edgar the piercer was incredibly unprofessional. I have the part of my hair that is quite short, maybe four inches, he messed it up stating people were going to think we had sex back here. It made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, but I can stand a bit of sexual harassment in the form of unwanted touching. When we got to the actual piercing he told me to take a deep breath and I started to ask a question and he ignored it and just pierced me anyway. Glad it wasn't second thoughts he ignored. Afterwards I pay he decides to take the opportunity to fondle my friend, which is incredibly unprofessional to do in front of a client even without the incident of him running his fingers through my hair; like can not not keep your hands to yourself? He also neglected to give me any aftercare instructions for the piercing because he was "distracted". I had to consult a friend who had gotten it done at Freaks on Broadway by a professional who is also probably not a predator. After posting the above review I received a reply from the Skin Illustration Facebook page claiming to be Edgar himself with a token response that was in no way shape or form an apology for his behavior. Today I wake up to that reply being gone and a reply from Edgar's personal Facebook page. In his reply he acknowledges his behavior and defends it claiming that he did no wrong. He is 100% dismissive and then changes gears to performative allyship; though still defending himself showing he has ZERO remorse for his actions. I would also like to note other than that initial post done by the shop's page, the shop itself nor it's management has in no way addressed this serious matter. He doesn't care about what you want or your design it's a horrible shop when I ask to show my design he said and I quote "I know what a heart looks like" As you can tell he doesn't the lines are crap and the sides aren't even the same size, The first time I tired To get it fixed I had them ignoring me so they knew I was coming in and let the back up take a walk in so my tattoo couldn't be fix and made me reschedule. Because mine called out sick I also learn the wait time to get a tattoo fixed is six weeks, they wanted to do it after two weeks which would have cause horrible scaring. And more pain and trouble. The tattoos look phenomenal BUT the artist was talking horrific things like rape for much of the appointment, and another employee was talking about how covid is a conspiracy etc at length so like idk. I got a really bad tattoo that I absolutely hate. The "artist" told me he didn't need to look at the picture in order to properly shade the tattoo. Which was the first red flag, one that I missed. My tattoo instead of being shaded is almost blacked out. All of the shading is simply black and looks like my actual regret. It's so far off mark is astonishing. I've hated from the second I walked out the door. The artist was also super unprofessional which now, seems inconsequential in comparison to my misery of my permanent regret picture. Fuck this shop. He is one talkative guy. if you are in the chair don't worry about carrying on the conversation. he will keep your mind off of getting needled with his stories. he is super friendly and will work on ideas with you until you get the right tattoo. he won't be offended if you don't like his ideas. I just got my eyebrow pierced here. I've never been tattooed or pierced before, so I felt a little intimidated when I first walked in. However, that quickly changed. A guy greeted me and took my money and whatnot for my piercing and he was very friendly. He made small-talk kinda jokes and definitely mad me feel at ease, but he never lost his professionalism. The piercer, Jo, is the same way. She was very friendly and easy going, yet still very professional. I am very happy with my eyebrow. I was in and out in 30 minutes, and I feel like I could call or go in if I had any questions or problems. The place is clean and open. The sofa is mega comfy. My sister is a piercer in another state and when I told her about the place and their practices (their set up, home care, that kind of stuff) she said it sounds like a great place. Edgar is very unprofessional, but good at what he does, so we continued to get pierced by him, but this last experience was AWFUL. He shamed my friends tattoos because they were done by someone not licensed, he also refused to let the girl who tattooed her in the shop despite them bringing a lot of business in. I had the worst tattoo experience there ever! The artist was rude and difficult to work with. My tattoo was placed somewhere I couldn't see the placement very well and it turned out crooked. Yes, my tattoo (which is a word) is crooked!!! I contacted the owner about the experience and was told that what happened was unacceptable and offered to try to fix it if I drove to Lawrence. She never once offered to come to me or to give me a refund!! The artist did not discuss the price with me beforehand and I feel like it was overpriced. I gave them a chance to somewhat make things right...as right as can be with a crooked tattoo before leaving a negative review as I take them very seriously. I feel as though I was wronged and nothing was done to make it right. Poor artistry, ZERO attention to detail and very poor customer service. That being said, I worked with only one artist. This place is awful!! The staff is completely unprofessional and trashy. The interior was dirty and outdated. I went in for a helix piercing and even though nobody else was in the shop it took forever for the receptionist to greet me and check me in. She was a flake and acted like I was an inconvenience. The other artists were joking around and belching and making jokes about cleaning the "AIDS" off of some equipment. When the artist took me back to his station I waited forever because he couldn't find the ring I wanted. He was digging through drawers of random jewelry to find what I wanted. Nothing seemed to be kept in sterile packaging. He showed me some pieces and I noticed his hands where really dirty and he had long nails with dirt under them. I ended up leaving without getting my piercing...and thank goodness!! This place sucked! It was overpriced and disgusting! read more

My fiance just got a tattoo from there and the guy was really rude. Wasn't helpful at all and acted like we were inconveniencing him. I came in tonight on a Saturday wanting my tattoo and in their windows it said walk ins welcome. They close at 8 i came in at 6 o clock. They only had one couple waiting for a piercing and one other person getting her tattoo more than done. I showed them my tattoo and the size i wanted and he said they were booked n said they closed at 7. Me and my boyfriend waited a bit more outside and the girl with the tattoo left 5 minutes after we walked out. The couple walked out 20 minutes after. They had no one walk in after them. I wish that there was less than a star available for this business. My sisters have matching white Monogram tattoos on the inside of their wrists. The originally got them in our hometown of Omaha at Big Brain Tattoo. The catch was that they are in all white. So while visiting my sisters and hoping to finally get a matching tat, thinking that it would be fun to get it while I was there, making it a bonding experience, we called around. Many tattoo parlors do not do strictly white tattoos for many reasons. And I KNOW THIS. I am perfectly fine with getting it touched up every year or so if it fades. Sooo...We get a hold of Skin Illustrations and they say I can come in (remind you that are 3 other blondes with me). We pull up, walk in and wait at the front desk. The owner or guy for that matter comes out front and grunts know it was me that called it. When I showed him my sisters tattoo and what I wanted- he did not even look at it. So with a pen and paper he quickly jotted down the initials I wanted and literally threw his pen on the table- like I pissed him off- he stormed off into the back. My sisters were convincing me to leave and I should have listed to them. I was somewhat nervous getting my tattoo done- so I quickly ran back to the bathroom, when I came out he was standing in the back room and I even ASKED him "If you do not feel comfortable or do not want to do one, I do not want to inconvenience you." In the most sarcastic voice he replied "I hate doing them, but whatever, I'll do it." So he came back with the first draw up of the tattoo and it was nothing like my sisters- I did like the font, but the middle initial I wanted larger, I told him that and he acted like I was busting his balls and wasting his time - dude this is what I want, fix it. Anyways, I jump into the chair and I felt so uncomfortable, It was like I was inconveniencing him. My sisters who were first up for me getting a tattoo on a whim were now hesitant while watching this guy work on me. He did not talk to me the entire time. He did not engage in conversation. I started asking questions about his art work on the wall, and asked questions. One which comes to mind " How long have you been doing this" He replies "15 years: sometimes not enough, other days it feels like way to long". It was like he was insinuating that clients like me make him hate his job. When done he covered it up, did not as me if I liked it, gave me no advice on aftercare. He was way overpriced. Cost me $60 dollars and I cannot even believe that I tipped the guy. I am too nice of a person. When I got home I immediately knew I would have to call my sisters tattoo parlor to get it touched up. Worst experience ever. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Just let him go out of business. read more

I have gotten two tattoo's here myself, but that was back in 2008-09. I cant remember the artist's name that did mine, but I was very pleased with his work. Recently, however, I took my sister here to get her first tattoo. We walked in and spoke with the artist "Koos". He looked at some pictures of what my sister had in mind (a dragon) and said he could definitely do what she was showing him and that he would add his own style to it. She decided to make an appointment with him and so glad she did. His work is AWESOME! He was very professional and didn't take any breaks while working on her, which I thought was great. This being her first tattoo, my sister was very nervous, but Koos was understanding and didnt make her uncomfortable at all. It took him about two hours to complete her tattoo and she was so pleased with it! We will both be going back for more of his work. If you need a tattoo ask for "Koos"! read more

Went here to get an ear cartilage piercing and got pierced by Jo. Hands down the best experience I've ever had with getting a piercing. I told her some of the issues I was having with my last piercer; my 1st cartilage wasn't healing correctly (I went back to him once already and he didn't even look at it, just gave me some general directions that didn't work) and my nose ring giving my skin some irritation due to the jewelry he pierced me with (I thought that was just how the piercing looked with my skin). She was completely honest with me about a future dermal piercing I was interested in, telling me she wouldn't recommend it because of her experience with them. She actually taught me new things about after care that I thought I knew everything about after getting 9 other piercings and a tattoo. After she was done giving me the piercing, she changed out the jewelry in the cartilage piercing I was having trouble with, telling me that the jewelry I got pierced with was way too small for the area so it didn't have room to heal correctly. She also gave me a better quality nose ring for free, not even asking for extra money for it. All I was expected to pay for was the new piercing. I was blown away by how personal the service felt, definitely not something I've received at other shops. I felt like she actually cared about my piercings as much as I did, even though it was the first time I had ever been there. I went here to get my tragus pierced. Months went by and it wasent healing I got a painful bump which is normal but i went back to ask why it wasent healing I did everything they said to do.I sat through him piercing me the first time dropping the jewlery multipul times then when I went back he took the jewlery out looked at my ear then could not get the jewlery back in so he REPIERCED it..... so so painful. So I eventually I got fed up going back there and went to my normal piercing and tattoo place (kings) he took one look and heard my story and felt so bad for me he replaced the stud for barely anything.. Apparently what they pierced me with was so low quality that me cleaning it made it start to tarnish and the ball on the outside was far too large it got caught on everything making anything painful. After two days of doing what MY pierced said to do and with the new stud its almost completely healed and no pain. I can finialy sleep. read more
