My son has been a Champion at CKD for over one year. I've been wanting him to go to CKD ever since he was little because I've heard great things about the dojo but it's a bit far from where we live. During the pandemic, the dojo started offering zoom classes and so we signed up. It is conveniently located right off the 10 freeway in West Covina. Sensei Chris is very professional, accommodating and the kids adore him! You can immediately see and feel the passion Sensei Chris has with the students. He offers structure, skills, discipline and patience. His students thrive and have won many championships all over the world. After just a few weeks, I can see that my son has learned skills as well as respect, self-discipline and has built his self-esteem. This karate dojo is exceptional! My 4 year old son is autistic and sometimes needs that extra attention to keep him in line. Sensi Chris and Sensi Lillian are wonderful. They are very patient for these little ones. My son benefits from taking these classes. It helps him work on listening & taking directions, respect for others, self control, and self-defense. We definitely have noticed a big difference in him with more confidence. Before starting here, we tried different martial arts places and they were not only far more expensive but they didn't teach much self- defense. The kids love it here because the Sensi's keep it fun. They have air conditioning for hot days and heat for the cold days which I appreciate for my son. There is plenty of parking. They keep everything clean as well. But I seriously can't thank Sensei Chris and all of the senseis there enough for all that they do for my kids and all of the students that they have taught/continue to teach! My 3 kids have been coming to Champions Karate Dojo for many years now. They each started when they turned 4 years old... now they are 18, 16 and 13 and have all received their black belts here. CKD is our karate family and my kids have made many lifelong friends not only at the dojo but throughout the competition field making friends with their fellow competitors throughout the United States. They have been studying under Sensei Chris who has taught them forms, weapons and to do your best to perfect the techniques learned. This philosophy has not only helped here at the dojo but at school too. They are well rounded kids who are confident and outgoing and I give credit to Sensei Chris and the other Senseis who have taught them along the way. The students are well behaved, have great attitudes and always help each other and that is because of the discipline and respect that they learn in the dojo. My wife signed up one of our girls here (who's been begging to learn to be a ninja Turtle). From the first few seconds of watching the students I was super impressed. I think one of the kids I was watching is actually ranked #1 in the nation in her division. The focus on form and attitude is noteable, and the weapons specialization is utterly impressive. Great place for kids to learn Karate, discipline, self defense and build self esteem. CKD was recommended to us by a friend and now we recommend them to our family and friends. Definitely worth the 30 mile drive to the dojo. Chris and the other sensei's do an amazing job with all the kids they work with. My son enjoys taking lessons here. He participates in the Lil Samurais class, sparring classes and is working on his first weapon, nunchuks. As a teacher, I definitely wish some of my 8th grade students went here to learn how to respect themselves and respect others. Kids act like they are tough and fight like they see on YouTube or the movies. I bet if they took lessons here, they'd learn to be more respectful of each other and to adults, as well. The older kids and young adults who work and learn here are all very respectful and helpful. This dojo not only is a good place to exercise and train, there you learn good principles like discipline and how to keep pushing forward. My daughter is four years old, and we had tried another school (kung Fu) but it seemed like the sifu was not really interested in kids, just his older students. My daughter would cry every time we went there, and despite the efforts of the students, she would not join. We needed a place that was more kid friendly and found CKD. When speaking to Sensei Chris over the phone, he seemed very professional and respectful, answered all my questions with patience and detail. Once I took my daughter in, he let her join in and taught her a few things, and that was all it took. Since day one my daughter was very happy and excited about karate class and would not stop telling everyone in the family about it. The staff is truly very patient and experienced. Class is always fun and the workout can't be beat. After just two months in class going only two days per week, my daughter participated in her first tournament and took home two 2nd place trophies! The patience and experience from all the instructors, and even other students makes this place the choice for me and I would recommend this school to anyone! My daughter has been going to CKD since Feb 2014. Since her first day I noticed the dojo is very kids friendly. The owners and black belts motivate our kids, discipline them, and you could tell they enjoy teaching our kids. Most important they treat the kid's great. The owners were was also flexible with the class schedule hours. I work in Beverly Hills and live in Whittier, so it's hard to get my daughter to the early classes, but sensei Chris was great about that, he worked with me on the class schedule. CKD is awesome!! All the programs they run are very friendly. The karate program is phenomenal. Sensei Chris is a 4th (or 5th) degree black belt, he runs the classes in a moderate phase in which the kids - even the early belts - can keep up with each other. The karate class also has numerous black belts, about 12 kids who are in the belt division. The maxfit works. I am a northview highschool wrestler (13x CIF champions) and the workouts are like the practices during the season. It really puts strength, endurance, stamina, and cardio all together. The MMA class is also good as well. It works in a moderate phase in which even the new kids can keep up with the experienced kids. It is mostly striking, however arts of grappling are included also included w/ proper techniques. It's an awesome place!! read more

My wife & I have looked into Dragon dojos, Taekwondo, and Kung-Fu, and have yet to have any of the competition come close to what Champions Karate Dojo can offer.
