This has been the best place for my child. Not only is it a great place for them to exercise but also where children can learn discipline, respect, self confidence, focus and perseverance. They also encourage the children and teach them how to be a leader and how to show respect to your elders, teachers and their peers. The teachers here are all very kind and patient when helping the children and try to show individual attention to the children and encourage their excellence at home and school as well. The exercises test their limits but they will also be amazed at what they can do and accomplish. It is definitely a great place if your child wants to be a ninja. They learn to break real wooden boards while defying gravity. They can also participate in competitions with other branches throughout the year and demonstrations at several local events. They are also very active in the community and have given lessons in self defense to local businesses and schools. I felt it heartening that the master also gave them a talk about bullying and what to do in situations like that in school. The master is always attentive at how you can improve and to be the best towards the goal of becoming a black belt. They have earned the title of best school and recently the title of Grand Champions at the national competition. The head master is also the President of the New York State Taekwondo Federation. The students that have trained here have gone on to do well in competition and also have become Masters at other taekwondo locations but this location has been constantly voted as Best in the Borough among Queens finest businesses. They also have a summer camp during break and other day camps when the children are off from school and have parent night out events once a month to drop off your kid and give us parents a break. The instructors and masters at this dojo care very much about your child's development in discipline. My fondest memory of them is when I brought goodie bags for the class. They lined up the children on one side and my child stood on the other to hand out. Each child must 1. Bow 2. Give with both hands and 3. Receive with both hands 4. Say thank you 5. Say your welcome. Showing respect is a form of discipline. It reminds the person that they are part of a larger community. Excelling and growing is also doing their part of being part of the community. We found this TKD school through a groupon a few months ago. And boy are we glad we did. Master Rho and Instructor Dobie who are the primary instructors work very well together to teach the various levels the discipline of TKD. I have witnessed my children flounder around having no idea what they were doing to becoming more confident and excited about learning TKD. Watching my children breaking boards during their yellow belt test really made my heart swell with pride, but even better, i could see in their faces the confidence that UCTA promises to deliver. My wife and I began participating in the adult class, and we are clearly the oldest ones in the class, but it's been a lot of fun. TKD isn't only for little kids, so if you want to get in shape, learn some self-defense, and gain some discipline come join us you won't be disappointed. read more

I have only visited the school based on my child's activity at this school. My child is not an active student at this school. This review is based on my observations of the school. Northern Blvd is a busy street. Parking in the area is tough, but when you pay the meter, it is easy. It's an oddly shaped school but the Master really owns his space. He successfully uses all the space. I have view the training of advance students, and its no joke. He's tough, but the results are seen in the quality of these students. He has quite the modern office. It is a full plexiglass office. The school is always clean. The school has a full schedule that is clearly presented in the waiting room. It's a large waiting to accommodate a lot of parents. The school provides a full schedule of activities. read more

I was looking for an activity that my 8yo would be able to do while at home during quarantine. Serendipitously, his classmate invited him to a Bring Your Friend event hosted by CMA virtually. I was skeptical about whether he would be interested and follow along via video chat, but to my surprise, he enjoyed it and wanted to continue with lessons. I am thoroughly impressed by the instruction he's been receiving these past few months and is already on his way to testing for his orange belt. Not only do they learn their necessary Tae Kwon Do techniques and moves, but they also have them do exercises. I also appreciate how they teach discipline and respect. Everyone is referred to as "Sir" or "Ma'am", even the students. They've also hosted Friday game nights virtually that have been fun for the kids. They have virtual classes every day, except Sundays. They manage to cram a lot in during the 30 minutes they're on with the kids. You can tell Master Ro and his instructors care a lot about their students and their community. I'm very happy we were introduced to CMA Flushing and hope my child will continue with them for a long time! read more

They are wonderful with small children as young as 3 years old all the way up to adults! Master Rho, Instructor Dobie, and the other instructors at this facility are amazing and do a great job with instilling discipline, respect, and confidence. I have been sending my kids here for close two years (including their previous location) and they enjoy learning and practicing Tae Kwon Do at the school and at home. My little one was very shy when she started. At 6 years old now, she has a green tip belt and speaks confidently with adults and other kids. During the most recent class, she admitted on her own that she needed help with one of the sequences and asked for help from one of the instructors. This was a big step for her and I remember that not too long ago, she would not have been able to do this without crying. The kids that go to this school definitely learn about Tae Kwon Do, discipline and respect. As a parent, there is always a great sense of pride when your child accomplishes or learns something new. I get this feeling every time, I watch my kids perform in class. I highly recommend this facility. read more

My son started at the Flushing Champions Taekwondo 2.5 years ago. I see great improvements in his listening skill, and he has better focus. The instructors are amazing when interacting with kids--they make class fun. Champions TKD does an excellent job of including special events in addition to regular classes---game night, parents out night, and movie night. The school also participates in fundraisers to help the community, this teaches my son a lesson in helping others. read more

My friend told me about the summer promotion 4 weeks for USD4, so we decided to sign up for our 4-y-o son. We joined the 1-year program right after the first class as our son liked it. I've been learning Taekwondo at this location for many years now, and this school, by far, is the best taekwondo school out there. I was fortunate enough to live close by and took advantage of the free trial and let me just say it was the best thing that I did for my daughter. Though I do not have any martial arts training myself, I have always had coaches and Master Rho goes above and beyond the call of duty. I started the kickboxing class here a few weeks ago and I love it. I already feel stronger and my kicks are more stronger, and proper. The cool thing about this class it that there are people of all levels (I consider myself a bit of an ameture) but the instructor is great at catering to all of us. The other great thing is you always have the instructor so it's not random people teaching the class each time you go in. Defiantly take advantage of there first month promo to see if you like it. Most other places do like a 3 class deal but I love that you can try them for a month. read more

This is THE place to train in taekwondo in the NY area. I've lived in NY for 25 years, and no other place can compare. The instructors and staff here are the epitome of what a good role model should be. Also, the program at Champions does an excellent job of accomplishing the elusive task of balancing between the sport competition aspect of taekwondo with the traditional side of taekwondo. You'll find National team members, Olympic athletes, and World Champion athletes here, and they're all very down-to-earth and easily approachable. But you'll also find a strong emphasis on the traditions and spirit of taekwondo. There is a strong sense of community, and taekwondo is truly a way of life for the people at Champions. The workout facility is top-notch. It is well-lit, matted, and there are big mirrors all around. This dojang (taekwondo school) regularly participates in local events around NY. One Sunday afternoon I was walking along Northern Blvd on the way to pick up my car from the Mechanic. I happen to walk by Ultimate Champions Tae Kwon Do when they were at their smaller previous location just before summer of 2014. Summer was approaching fast and I was looking for a summer activity that would keep my 4 and 7 year old boys busy but to focus their energy in a more positive manner. At first site it looks like chaos and one wonders is this really an organized disciplined environment as the students enter to prepare to take their class. As I continued my observations I see the students entering and bowing yelling "Hello Sir" and "Hello Ma'am." Students were piling in and warming up while taking their appropriate positions eager to learn. I am thinking to myself wow these kids must be veterans since they are so disciplined. I mean we are talking about 4 year olds filing in position with minimum to no direction necessary smiling ready to go. Then I realized that they are white belts which is the beginning of their journey in learning their techniques and mastering the art of Tae Kwon Do. After watching the session for 45 minutes I decided to enroll both of my boys for an annual plan. If you can afford it the numbers make sense. Eager and excited they both imagined that they would be fighting bad guys in no time! First day of class they showed up in their normal street clothes. They were introduced to the class and were briefed on the basic rules as well as briefed on the importance of respect, discipline and the purpose of learning TKD to protect themselves and others that are unable to. Once they had acknowledged this responsibility they were presented with their uniforms at the end of the session. Quiet impressive for a first session as the kids were talking about it over dinner to make sure they had a clear picture This was the clear indicator to me that they had the Master's and instructor's attention and respect. . I mean hey what 4 or 7 year old would want to challenge Master Rho and his team! :-) Since then the school has moved to rather larger and impressive location which doesn't compare to some of the other schools that I have seen in the past. New equipment, mats and a video system that would allow you to watch your child while they are in practice so you don't distract them. Typically after each session my kids come and practice their techniques take their uniforms off with respect and put them away in preparation for their next class. The school has a reward system which acknowledges a student's efforts in school, home and efforts at the UCTKD School! Geesshhh what a motivator! These kids are constantly looking for ways to earn Blue Cards (given when they perform excellent in TKD class) Red Cards (given when they perform excellence in school for tests and letters from their teachers) Yellow Cards (given for excellence at home.) Now on the flip side if they do not perform well in school, home or TKD practice the Master and instructors step in to reinforce the importance of behavior, studies and respecting others as an example. It's interesting how they take more of a big bother/sister approach and not a parental approach. I kid you not Master Rho and his team will apply pressure because they know your child can do it and let's face it there will be times when your child will be in a pressured situation and will need to know how to handle it. I have seen my children mature partly based on the teachings and environment that UCTKD creates. I am a big believer in one that surrounds themselves with positive energy will grow and influence others in the same way. Since our kiddos started they have a great new location and have expanded their offerings. They now offer birthday parties (the kid's favorite with the cutting of the cake with a sword), kickboxing classes and Yoga. I believe they are offering an after school program as well but not sure of the details. Hands down I know that there are other schools out there but based on our experience with Master Rho and his team they have been amazing. I felt that it was justified to take the time to write this review as not doing so would be a great injustice! Keep up the excellent work UCTKD team!!! read more

Master Rho and Instructor Dobie are excellent. They are truly dedicated to the students. The staff as well are always respectful and excellent teachers as well. The are willing to work with your schedule. The reinforcement in discipline is noticeable in my son when he goes regularly to UCTKD, and also his confidence gets a great boost. Dojang is kept very clean, its very spacious, great for parents with smaller kids that need to be in strollers. You are able to watch your child practice, which I love. They also have many events, celebrations throughout the month that the children can participate in such as movie nights and game nights.
