The instructors are basically superhero sidekicks: patient, energetic, and somehow able to wrangle a room full of sugar-powered kids with nothing but a smile. My child went from shy and unsure to confidently karate-chopping imaginary bad guys in the living room. Plus, he now says, "Yes, ma'am!" when I ask him to clean their room. We discovered Chandler MMA 8-years ago and signed up our son for Taekwon Do. He was 7 years old at the time. Since then, he has achieved his third degree Black Belt in Taekwon Do as well as his third level in Muay Thai. His level of physical fitness and strength is remarkable. Again, Chandler MMA focused on its student offering Zoom classes and creating workouts via YouTube. The gym is always clean but the McGowans increased their efforts and bought a specialized cleaning machine to ensure the safety of their students and instructors. Upon re-opening, Master McGowan and the other instructors have offered private training sessions, following CDC guidelines to protect the students while also affording them the opportunity to train in-person. This gym is family owned by a spectacular family. They really care about their students and go above and beyond for their students and family. During the Covid-19 stay at home order, they quickly organized live online lessons and encouraged the entire family to join in, whether they had a membership or not. They loaned out their own pads and weighs for free and even mailed strips for the kids belts in the mail to help back up parents with good behaviors for their kids in school work and behavior at home. The McGowans truly care about people and that is hard to find these days. Being able to get a super high quality workout done in the morning during this time has been my saving grace with all the extra stress lately. I am forever grateful for their generosity. I had contacted Master Mcgowan about a self defense class for my daughter and some of her friends before they were leaving for college. He offered a few different times that would work for this private class and we found a Saturday morning that worked for everyone. They finished the class/session and I just have to say .......WOW! I am beyond impressed! Not only did these 8 girls come away with a sense of an ability to be able to react if a scary situation was to (hopefully never) occur, but they also came away with a sense of empowerment as strong girls/women!! I have worked in the fight business since 2007 and regularly commentate MMA and Muay Thai shows. I am from NYC and went to Arizona for a week to visit family. A friend took me to Chandler MMA for a Thai Boxing workout. I have been a Martial Artist for 10 years and I got some of the best instruction from Master Paul McGowan. He's not only super fit but extremely knowledgable about all things Martial Arts and fitness. The workout was challenging but also accommodating for me and my current shoulder injury. I found his way of teaching very realistic for sports competition and great for competitive strategy. He also drills things in such a way that it creates proper patterning. He teaches you to create good fight habits. I swear I enjoyed training there so much that I considered a move to Arizona. The staff there is very friendly and the facility was immaculate.
