If there was a choice to give this place more than 5 stars I would place it to the max! I highly recommend training here. The atmosphere gives more of a family feel than just a business feel. Jay, the team, and the rest of the coaches treat you as if you are blood related. It's always a good vibe here and so much more to learn as well as many opportunities this gym has to offer from Belt advancements to sponsorships to competitions and more! Not only does this place give a family feel to the environment, but the people you train with are awesome as well! If you are new, you can join the beginners class. But even if you want more of a challenge and are new, you will be taught in hard sparring as well. I've made some friends in this school as well. I moved from Wisconsin to Arizona in the spring of 2019 and the first thing I did after finding an apartment was to search for a new gym for to train at. There were several options near Ahwatukee and I was initially drawn to Jay Pages for the M-F 6 AM classes. Life is busy and being able to consIstently at night is difficult. Having the option to train before work sounded like the best bet. I shot Jay an email about checking the gym out and he responded quickly invinting me in ASAP. I went in a week later for a 6AM no gi class and received a warm welcome from Jay and his students. I was impressed with the instruction during class and the quality of the rolling after class. I talked to Jay after class and was excited to find out I wouldn't be required to buy new gi's, patches, shorts, or rash guards like some of the other gyms in the area require. I signed up for a year membership later that morning and have been happy with my decision ever since! read more

It might not be the best gym for everyone but everyone I've ever met through combat sports tends to enjoy it. I really can't say enough about Jay's school... Jay does a great job of keeping the atmosphere fun and relaxed while also effectively teaching his students. It comes through that Jay not only has a passion for what he does, but the students he teaches it to as well. He even has the patience to teach uncoordinated guys like me! The other students in the class are great. There is a certain level of camaraderie developed between you and your training partners. They become more than friends, they become like your family. Everyone there is trying to make others succeed. I have yet to encounter a 'bully' on the mat. I go to morning classes and there is a nice mix of skill level. All of the higher belts are very helpful to us new guys. Everyone has their ego checked at the door. The schedule is very convenient too. There are multiple different classes during the day, including Judo and a woman's class as-well. For me, on a personal level, starting classes here has helped me in so many other area's of my life. My stress levels have reduced greatly. Once I started my day with jiu jitsu, the rest seems to just flow. There are also existential life lessons gleaned, things about myself and life in general I learned, like breathing effectively through difficult situations - but everyone will have their own, so you need to come to class and discover them for yourself! read more

Soon after signing up at the academy, I asked if they had anyone on staff who did strength and conditioning stuff, to book a one-on-one session to look at my back squat form.
