Our son started having some behavior issues at first we were told it was a phase. Even our family doctor thought it was a normal development phase. When the Daycare finally told us they felt his behavior wasn't a phase and needed professional help we started the process to get him an assessed and behavioral help from professionals. Literally the day we informed him that he had been approved for, and would be getting assistance they kicked him out because they felt he was a safety risk. however curiously during that phone conversation where we were telling them he was approved the admin stated that if the assistance was full wrap around coverage then it wasn't good enough (note wrap around is only for 2.5 hours a day and only given if the rarest of situations.) The professionals that had assessed him in their school was stunned when we informed them and literally put in writing she didn't believe he was a safety risk at all. We even tried talking to the teacher and she just told us she couldn't get involved. There was no meetings, no conversations, no warnings, there was no documentation to prove their claim. there was just a letter in his folder that day saying as of that Friday he was no longer allowed to attend. this was on a Wednesday He literally cried all night and then everyday for the next couple weeks when he couldn't go back and see his friends. We have struggled since then because he just wants to go back and doesn't want anything to do with his new daycare and it has made working on his issues even more difficult. Even now several months later we are still stunned and confused. And why we still don't know because the administrator of the site and the owner have refused to communicate with us in any fashion.

I was told directly by the enrollment office " Kathy" that the school "can't survive" by offering financial aid, which was very discouraging. After applying for financial aid, I never received a formal decision, even though I was told it had been mailed. Instead, I received a random refund amount with no explanation. Throughout the process, the enrollment officer frequently changed her statements and would not acknowledge the inconsistencies. To be clear: I believe the school itself is strong, and the teachers seem genuinely dedicated and hardworking. But the enrollment process, especially my experience with the enrollment officer, was disorganized and unprofessional. If you choose to apply, I strongly recommend documenting everything and keeping all communication in writing.

Prior to coming to Walden, my son attended K-1st grade at a school that just wasn't up to par academically & where we felt our son got lost in the shuffle. Here, everyone knows him by name, makes an effort to know us as parents and really digs deep to understand how they can best help each individual child. I especially love that the way they teach isn't just by lecture, sitting at a desk staring at a chalkboard, but through hands-on projects, exploration & using sensory and tactile items to accommodate different learning styles.

Susan, the director, has been very responsive and accommodating, and our daughter's teachers are loving and involved. I have found the building and outside area to be clean (the playground area is awesome), and I will echo one of the other parents that the teachers in the other rooms go out of their way to engage with parents and children who are not even assigned to their rooms. There is a nice sense of community here. In particular, Miss Saamara in the Cuddlebug room is outstanding. She is incredibly warm and sweet. Our child had some issues with separation anxiety at first and Miss Saamara would take her and walk her around the room while holding her, showing her pictures and talking to her in a soothing voice as I left. I would often pause for a minute outside the room to make sure my child stopped crying, and Miss Saamara always had her calmed within a minute or two. Now that she has adjusted to her classmates and teachers, our child is always happy and barely notices when we arrive to pick her up - she would rather keep playing! One of the other things I really liked about this program is that most of the teachers have been here much longer than other programs: 5-15 years. That made me very comfortable that the director knows the teachers well and that they are in this career because they love what they do. The reason for the 4 out of 5 star rating is that we have had two minor issues here, but I feel that these has been handled well by the teachers/director and were positively resolved. (a few late arrivals by a teacher which caused me to be late to work and one incident where I picked up my daughter and she had developed a high fever but I was not called. The teachers had not noticed due to it being about 80 degrees out and the children were outside playing.) Overall, I felt these incidents were minor and I felt the teachers and director responded quickly and appropriately to my concerns. I think that as we get more time under our belt here (we have only been enrolled 6 months) and no further issues arise, I would be very comfortable amending this rating to a 5 star.

I've recommended this location to other friends looking for child care centers - we're happy with our decision to go with P&L in Bryn Mawr and look forward to our daughter continuing to grow and learn throughout her time there. At…read moredrop off on day 1, the school's second in command yelled at my wife for dropping my daughter off 15 minutes earlier than the assigned drop off time. It was the first day so we weren't aware that the school's open hours are not the same as the assigned hours for your child. It was a precursor for what was to come. In the 1 month my daughter attended here, she was sent home 4 separate times for having a runny nose, even though she was not sick. Each time she was not allowed back without a doctor's note. Each time, the doctor said she was healthy and fine. I had to watch my daughter for 13 days that month--shuttling her to doctors to get a note to satisfy the mad woman running this place. All the while, I'm paying this place (and the doctors) and hoping my work wouldn't fire me. When I brought up the ridiculousness of the policy with an email, the head kicked my daughter out of the school. The idea that the people here care about your child is a farce. Leaving this place was a blessing. If the toxic fumes from the adjacent auto repair shops are not enough for you to avoid this place, I hope my caution here gives some insight to the toxicity inside. If you do join here, make sure you don't question the supreme overlord. Or maybe you should so you can get out of your contract and go to a better place.
