I couldn't be happier with my experience at Li'l Tykes! In just the first week my son was enrolled, he made more noticeable progress than he did in six months at a previous facility. The staff is absolutely wonderful--caring, attentive, and truly treat my child like their own. They go above and beyond the standard curriculum, offering so many enriching activities and hosting multiple events throughout the year that actively engage parents and showcase the children's creativity. The outdoor play area is fantastic, with a large grassy space that gives the kids plenty of room to run and explore, plus fenced-in play areas with fun, developmentally appropriate play equipment and toys. Every morning when we arrive (right at opening due to work schedules), the staff is already there with smiles on their faces--and so is my son! He's excited to go each day, which speaks volumes. The facility also makes safety a top priority. Access is secure, with entry controlled by keycode and monitored by a ring camera--staff greet parents at the door and let them in individually. When someone other than me picks up my son, staff verifies they are on the approved list and checks ID without fail. I really appreciate that level of diligence, care, and security. Another big plus is the use of the Brightwheel app. It makes daily updates seamless--check-in/out is easy, and I receive updates and photos throughout the day that give me peace of mind and help me feel connected to what my son is doing. My son is absolutely thriving here! Enrolling him in Li'l Tykes has been one of the best decisions I've made. Since he started daycare, I wanted him to be in a place that feels like he's with family. I cannot say enough great things about the time my daughter spends here. I initially chose this location due to the fact it was the most affordable for our budget. However since we enrolled my daughter in the fall of 2016, she has progressed so rapidly thanks to the great teachers and the curriculum that they provide. Not only that, but the enrichment activities that they provide, like a traveling farm and the in classroom rabbits, supplement the day-to-day activities. I read the prior low rated reviews involving some of the teachers mentioned. I cannot tell you if those teachers are still there but I trust my daughter with ALL of the teachers at this daycare. In fact, one is our dependable, reliable babysitter on the weekends. I could keep going on and on about the great things about this daycare. My husband and I researched and visited over a dozen child care centers before deciding to go with Lil Tykes. My oldest has been there 3 years now, and since then, we've had another child who started at 3 months old. We have build a great rapport with all the staff/teachers in this time. What brought us to our decision initially is teachers with backgrounds in education - which made it feel like I wasn't just dropping my kids off to get baby sat. The center is clean , has security cameras and you need a code to enter , well decorated and equipped. After having my oldest there, it was incredible to see her social skills build. She was excited to go to school, she loves her teachers and her friends, and she's excited in learning. I love they take the kids on field trips - she still talks about all the trips. They even had a program where My Gym would come to the school if you choose to enroll your child. Each morning, I get greeted and the staff knows every child by name - no matter what class they are in. They now have an app Brightwheel - i LOVE this. I get pics almost every day (which is my favorite) and updates on what they are learning , projects, and communication between the teachers. I feel my children are cared for, and trust me - my 4 year would let me know if she did not like it! She looks forward to school, wants to do homework, is constantly talking about her teachers and what happened in school. It's fun to see at such a young age she loves attending lil Tykes . My youngest is in the infant room , and just as my oldest has gone though all the classrooms , I'm now getting to see just how wonderful the infant room is. My youngest is always happy and smiling - they do neat projects and have such a great set up in there. I know when I leave , I'm leaving her in great hands. The second she is not acting herself - they call immediately, check her temperature. I really couldn't be more happy... they care for the kids, they have incredible trips and special events - they have a farm come, they have a gym upstairs if it's cold or rainy, they have water play in the summer, my daughter even watched baby chicks hatch! It's great to see how animated my 4 year old has been when telling me how her day was... and anytime I have asked a question or had a concern - the director and staff gave me all the time in the world. We started at Li'l Tykes when my daughter was 3 and my son was a newborn. This place is amazing. After 3 years I feel like family when I drop my son off. My daughter graduated and is thriving in Kindergarten because of the Pre-K program there. My son is 3 and he loves his teachers and friends and is already learning so much. Their response to COVID-19 was prompt and professional and their updated guidelines made me very comfortable sending my son back as soon as they opened. We will be staying there until the next round of Kindergarten. read more

My son is currently going to Li'l Tykes. He is 4, and started when he was 12 weeks old. All of the staff are awesome. They know all the kids' names whether they are their caregivers or not. My son is comfortable with all of them. They do art projects, learn songs, counting, play outside, manners, cleaning up, sharing and interacting with others, even get bunnies to care for in the spring. The price is reasonable, and the hours are great for our schedule. They also established protocols during the pandemic that made us comfortable with our son going back after the shut down, and he's benefiting a lot from being back, versus being home with us and on the iPad way more than I would have liked. We're so happy we selected this daycare for our little guy, and are planning on sending in our younger son when he's old enough. read more

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Li'l Tykes is. My son is 10 months old and he has been there since he was 4 months old. My son LOVES Ms. Renace and has a big smile for her every morning. As a new mom, I value her experience and her genuine affection for B. He has never once cried at drop-off and seems to want to stay longer when I pick him up! His afternoon teachers, Ms. Miranda and Ms. Inaya are warm, tender, and caring. Kids who have "graduated" to the toddler room come in the baby room for hugs from their teachers. The teachers all work together and I've seen many of them "in action," even if they work in other rooms. They are all wonderful. Ms. Courtney, the director, is very hands on. I see her all the time helping kids, popping into the baby room to comfort a child, and saying hello to parents. I am so lucky to have them in our lives, and you will be, too. read more

My spouse and I visited this center for a tour and loved everything about the center and we enrolled our child here based on our tour. Unfortunately for us it was all down hill from there. After a short stay at the center we decided to pull our child for several reasons including but not limited to the following: 1. our main reason was because the teachers were completely disinterested in our child at drop off and never greeted us with a hello or even a smile at drop off. This was our first red flag, dropping off your child is hard enough on both the parent and the child and for the teachers to not be warm and embracing towards the child and to not say hello to the parents is completely inexcusable in my book and it made me wonder if they arent warm and embracing at drop off what goes on during the day?????? Similarly, they rarely said good bye to the child or acknowledged the parent at pick up and this was not an isolated incident as several people picked up and dropped off my child and we all had the same experience. the Teachers were often on their cell phones also and not paying attention. i should also note that on the days the Director would be in or around my childs room everything was different and perfect the teachers were embracing, welcoming, pleasant and attentive but the director was only at this room at the same time as me maybe 2 or 3 times... its a shame because they have staff that know what they are supposed to do but as soon as their supervisor isnt around they dont care. 2. we noticed when a toddler was sick and had a running nose the staff were not cleaning their nose and lips and would just let the mucus run and build up. 3. their daily report notes are a disgrace - they fill out one sheet, then photo copy that sheet and then give that sheet to each child's parent and pass it off as if it is a unique note about your childs day. also the daily sheet is very uninformative, the sheet says nap then they circle yes or no, also similar for diaper changes it reads diaper changed (or something similar) then a yes or no. I am sorry but i want more details, how long did my child nap and at what time? how many times was the diaper changed? did she have a BM or no? this is really basic stuff that is lacking 4. my child came home from lil tykes with diapers full of urine more often than not 5. 1 morning I noticed a child in a highchair with cheerios covering the entire table top portion of the high chair and there was not any teachers paying attention to the child at all or even in close proximity to the child. this was was the moment that i realized i have to pull my child from here. aside from giving a child a portion of food that was total ridiculous seeing that toddler alone sitting in a high chair with zero supervision was it for me. Bottom line is my expectations were that I was paying professionals to help my toddler learn and grow in a loving, embracing, nurturing and professional environment but I felt let down in every single way from this center. I struggled to write this as I do not ever want to write anything that could hurt anyone's business but I ultimately felt it was my civic duty to notify other parents of the issues I had here. My intentions was to discuss the issues noted above with the Director after we made our decision to leave but when I called and told her that "unfortunately this center doesnt meet our needs and expectations and we would like to cancel services" her response was ok and that was it. I thought to myself if I was in charge of any business and my customer said my product or services did not meet their needs and expectations I would at minimum ask why and probe to see how I could make my product better, but because the answer was just ok and nothing else I decided to not bother. OH AND BE EXTREMELY SKEPTICAL ABOUT POSITIVE REVIEWS, THE OWNER WRITES HER OWN REVIEWS AND ACTS LIKE SHE IS A INDEPENDENT REVIEWER, THAT WILL BE MADE EXTREMELY OBVIOUS WHEN A GLOWING REVIEW FOLLOWS THIS REVIEW WITHIN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. read more

We have had our son with Lil Tykes since he was born in 2014. It was a tough thing to take our little boy to daycare for the first time, and we were nervous. I can assure you that the teachers at Lil Tykes are some of the kindest, warmest, and family oriented people I've encountered. Courtney Kimmel, the Director at Lil Tykes, has always been very involved in making sure our son was getting compassionate care, but also to make sure that his education goals were being met as well. We've seen him grow and develop in an amazing way. Whether it was him coming home and randomly counting in Spanish, or his surprising knowledge of so many things, it has been delightful! he has made lots of friends, and Lil Tykes always seems to have fun activities for the kids. They bring in animals for the kids to pet and learn about. They take them out on walking field trips. My son has always been very active there, and loves to play with his teachers. I truly cannot say enough about Lil Tykes. We've been so happy to have our son there, and we hope other parents will try them out. :) read more

My boys have attended Li'l Tykes Childcare for just about 4 years. When my oldest first started there the director was super helpful by being flexible with his start date, even when I changed it a few times. When I had my second son it was the same situation and the director never had an issue with me changing start dates. As a full time working mom the flexibility really helped put my mind at ease. We have always been greeted with a smile from the teachers in the mornings and in the afternoons. The friendly atmosphere really made us feel at home here. My boys always loved going to "school" as we call it in my house. They loved their friends, teachers, and all the fun trips. Their favorite was to My Gym or the "Monkey Gym". If we ever had any concerns we could always speak to the teacher about our concerns. They were always very helpful and understanding. We had some issues with my 3 year old and potty training, he just wasn't interested. But the teachers just kept trying and sooner or later he finally got it. I can't thank them enough for helping out with all the day to day activities and life skills they helped my boys learn. My oldest learned to tie his shoes while attending. We never really had to work with him on that because his teacher continually worked with him. I was truly happy with this daycare while my children attended. I felt like they were safe and loved. I was never uneasy about leaving them. In fact some evenings when I picked up I would have to "drag" them out. To me that was a sign that even they were happy there. My oldest is still best buddy's with 2 of his classmates and they only see each other a few times a year now. I have since had a 3rd baby and when I need childcare again I will most definitely contact Li'l Tykes again. read more

My child attended from March 2015-May 2016, this review is overdue. Prior to enrolling we visited a few times and considering this place was recommended by a trusted friend, we decided to enroll. While she was in the 1yr old class with Ms. Loni, Ms. Liz and Ms. Charlena we had a great experience. My child LOVED these teachers and they seemed very nurturing, I felt she was in good hands. They are the only reason this review gets 2 stars opposed to 1. Once she moved to the "potty trainers" class things went downhill. My child cried everyday at drop off and seemed very uncomfortable. I thought maybe it was just the transition. Then other small things happened that caused concern, like her constantly peeing herself when she never had accidents at home. Were they not taking her to potty when she asked to go? Overall she was unhappy in this particular class which was very unlike my energetic, loving child. Final straw: I came to pick her up and they told me that she had an incident in which she scratched the teacher. This was alarming and very unlike her. While they told me some story I still asked my child what happened. She's very verbal so I felt I would get something out of her. She relied "I went to time out" I ask "why did you have to go to time out" she says "because I pushed [kids name]" I say "that wasn't nice, were you upset when you went to timeout" she replied that the teacher "hit me back". I was alarmed. I asked her more than once, in diffferent ways and her story never changed. We went back into the center and she repeated this in FRONT OF THE DIRECTOR. She seemed very unconcerned. But, she said she would review the tape. Next day, she claimed the tape showed nothing concerning. I met with teacher who denied it and reassured us that she would never do such a thing. We wanted to believe her but it didn't sit well. I asked the director if wecould see the tape and she said NO. With that, we pulled her out immediately. The director again, showed no concern. You would think this sort of claim would be better managed. I don't trust leaving my child in a place like this. Again, I'm giving this review 2 stars instead of 1 because there are some good teachers there (infant room and 1 year old room). But the potty trainers class and up is questionable. I also recall some of the teachers in the older classes yelling at the children. Truthfully, even if this incident hadn't happened there's no way we would have stayed much longer. read more

Both of my sons have been cared for at Li'l Tykes, and for a very high-maintenance family WITH a special needs child, there is nothing I wouldn't do for the caregivers at Li'l Tykes that have become such a huge part of our family. We are so grateful every single day for how they cared for our 4.5 year old, who has significant ADHD AND Sensory Processing Disorder, to the point where he had been asked to leave several daycares because the teachers just couldn't handle his level of hyperactivity. He was too young for medication then and no one wanted to put in the time and effort to understand or address his needs or help him thrive in a challenging environment. When we found Li'l Tykes, they were the only daycare who would have consistent parent-teacher-specialty (occupational therapists, psychologists, etc) meetings to strategize caregiver to caregiver to family on how to set our son up for success in an environment (school) that doesn't typically help children who are physically incapable of sitting still and attending to activities for more than 2-3 minutes. My son, an incredibly sweet and loving boy, would often be labeled "disruptive" because of his inability to sit in his chair when other kids could sit quietly. He would get up and wander around and wiggle and squirm and talk. Li'l Tykes saw that this wasn't BAD behavior, it just needed a special skill-set to manage. After over a year there, he successfully transitioned to kindergarten and is doing wonderfully. Their commitment to him and seeing him be successful did wonders for his self-esteem. He couldn't help what he was going through, and having the adults in his life validate him and work overtime to understand what was happening to him and to help him and actually LOVE him instead of being angry at him that he couldn't meet their expectations...it was a gift to our family, and really transformational for us and how we learned to lean on them as an extension of our resources and "team" for our son. My other son has been at Li'l Tykes since he was about 5 months old, and has transitioned from the infant room to the toddler room and soon the potty training room. I read some of the other reviews as I was about to post my own, and do not understand for one second any of the negative reviews. They honestly sound like a load of B.S. My husband and I are there every single day, and know every single teacher. Renace in the infant room STILL goes out of her way to say hello to us and ask us how we are doing, even though our son isn't in her class anymore. Miranda and Mariah are like angels of love, my kids ADORE them; Charlena, Shanet, Inaya, & Alicia care for my son in the toddler room and every time we walk in the door the other kids are happy and social, they run up to greet us and are excited to see another friend arrive. The teachers are always smiling and holding the kids or playing or dancing. Marilyn, Mary, & Sam are the teachers in the potty room right next to the toddler room where my son is, I know them all well and they are incredibly attentive - I talk to them often about my own son transitioning there and how to help set him up for success as he goes into potty training...they never rush me away, they take their time to talk to me like the true experts they are in childcare. I do the parenting thing in the morning, the evening, and the weekends. They do it all day every single day year after year and with multiple children - my knowledge of what I'm going through *right now* pales in comparison to what they live and breathe 365 days a year. I love there isn't a television to be seen in the center like some of the other daycares we've been to - the teachers are attentive and as far as the "paper updates" that someone was complaining about - that's not accurate. They give paper updates sure, as an ADD ON to the Brightwheel App they use where you can actually SEE pictures and videos etc of what your kids are doing, learning, playing - they communicate with parents all day long every day. It's not the daycares fault if a parent didn't bother to download the app so they could see in real-time all the wonderful things their child is doing throughout the day. And lastly, and really I could go on and on and on because I love this daycare so much and all of the caregivers in it - there isn't one person there I don't trust implicitly. I have often asked teachers there if they would be available to care for our kids on their off-hours. I trust them in my home, I trust them with my cars, I trust them with my pets and above all my most valuable and precious loves in life - the reasons that get me up and out of bed every day - I trust them with my babies. There isn't anything you couldn't ask of them that they wouldn't be willing to bend over backwards to help with. They are a part of our Delaware County community, and a part of our family, and we love them very much. I don't know a single other daycare I could say that about. read more

My son attended here from 9/2012 till Pre-K graduation in 6/2017. My wife and I researched quite a few centers in the area before selecting Li'l Tykes. What a great choice we made. From the beginning the staff made us feel welcome, safe, and our child loved. The teachers and aides made the 5 years our son was there a great experience. I would highly recommend Li'l Tykes to anyone who is looking for a all day childcare facility. Hours of operation are awesome, 6:45-6pm M-F. The tuition is reasonable. We were only at Lil Tykes for a few months. I had three kids in daycare there. The first thing to notice is that the teachers rarely interact with the children. At pick up and drop off they are always just chatting with each other or looking on the computer 'for school things' (why can't that be done during the two hour nap?). We have been at three daycares total (due to a move) and that is not the case at any other daycare, everywhere else the teachers are always playing and interacting with the students and never standing around chatting or just sitting at a desk. The reason why we left, however, was because I had to stop in midday to drop off my son after an appointment. When I was leaving, I heard a teacher talking very angry and mean to my 1 year old daughter in another classroom. Apparently she wasn't sleeping during nap time and the teacher was saying, in a very angry voice, 'You are NOT doing this to me today. Oh no you aren't. I have HAD it with you'. There were 3 other teachers in the room who all witnessed this and no one batted an eye. I wouldn't even speak to my own kids this way. My daughter napped every day while there so it wasn't a regular occurrence, at least not according to the notes they sent home daily (not that it matters). While I was standing there listening, I saw her come storming down the hallway dragging my 1 year old daughter by one arm behind her, dangling. I grabbed my daughter and confronted her and she angrily stormed out of the building, abandoning her job. She refused to watch the video with the director and I. She did not lose her job, she was back after just one day, in the same classroom. The fact that she abandoned her job, yelled at a parent, spoke that way to a child, and handled a child in a physically inappropriate manner and was still employed there was enough for us to immediately withdraw our three kids, with no back up plan. I heard that over the years the quality has declined and the teachers used to be better. There are better place out there, for your kids sake find a different one. read more

What a wonderful place! All the staff are great and personable. The structure was what I wanted and the education that my 3 year old received was more than what I could ask for. Very interactive by having petting zoo visit, water play, singers and much more. I was very happy with this daycare. Sadly, we had to move. My daughter is still asking for her friends and teachers. Our daughter started attending L'il Tykes in 2013 when she was three months old. She is currently in the 3 year old class and we are very pleased that we chose L'il Tykes for our daycare needs. All of the teachers at L'il Tykes have helped us raise her to be a sweet, kind little girl. It's never easy trusting someone to take care of your child each day, but I am so happy with the care she has received in all of the classes she has attended at L'il Tykes. She still loves pulling up into the parking lot each day and going into the school to say hi to all of her teachers and friends. Each day, I can't wait to see all of the exciting things that are in her backpack to see what she worked on that day. Plus, the teachers plan exciting activities for the kids to do, like a visit from a traveling farm to visits to My Gym, Bertuccis and Coldstone Creamery. The school was the difference between night and day. We had a terrible experience at my daughter's former daycare so we made arrangements to visit Lil Tykes. We were impressed from the get go, the cleanliness of the center, the quality of teachers, the professionalism and attention of the director Miss Courtney is unmatched. My daughter has been with the school almost two years now and we have not looked back. The communication and program is exceptional. My daughter is a naturally bright child so we needed somewhere that will capitalize on her strengths and enhance her weaknesses. This daycare is nothing short of awesome. All the teachers are great and well trained, they all know my daughter and can almost always provide a daily account on her day despite not being her immediate caregiver. The teachers all work well as a team and it clearly shows. I repeatedly recommend this daycare to my friends and even those I come into contact with outside of my sphere of influence. Miss Courtney and the team are very considerate and understanding to my family needs and circumstances. On numerous occasions, I have been late to collect my daughter due to unforeseen circumstances. Had this been any other daycare the teachers will have been calling me and behaving in a rude and curt manner however this is not the case at Lil Tykes. Teachers are always supportive and place my safety in getting to the center above and beyond. I love that Miss Courtney and Miss Helene are very hands on. My last daycare the director was extremely work shy and sat in the office all day every day. This is so not the case here. I am an OCD mother who wants to know everything about my child's development and interaction with her peers and the teachers. I reinforce the lesson plan with my daughter at home and when I find any deficiencies I very often reach out to Miss Courtney and the team and make requests for changes. They are ALWAYS willing to work with me. My daughter loves going to school and in most cases has positives things to say about her teachers and peers.
