Anywho, upon first glance of the location, I was not excited. Small brown building right on Harford Road. The building was rather difficult to find from the road, there wasn't any signage that I could see. The parking is in the back of the building, off of Emerald Avenue, you need a parking pass. Chandler will provide this.... If not, there is metered parking in the front. To get to her studio from the parking lot, walk towards the front, there is a small set of steps leading up to a doorway, it is upstairs. If you go to the sidewalk, you have gone too far!! Inside was so cute! Chandeliers, cute chairs, tables, cookies (yummo btw) and a place for us to sit, with our own individual make-up, mirror, and folder to jot notes. Now initially I was a little skeptical, as I had never heard of the makeup that she used, and I was concerned weather she would be able to help me, due to my skin tone and what she had out that was displayed. More often than not, I go to these make-up classes with too light or too dark foundation, and that is not thee business. I was so wrong with my assumption, I learned that no, you don't have to spend tons in order to look fab! Woop! Considering that I am a frugal Fannie, this works especially well for me. The class was pretty amazing, Chandler is an excellent teacher, she broke everything down, and taught me new ways to apply make-up. She was totally knowledgeable about my skin tone, and created a perfect concealer and foundation match. Also, she had some really ahmazing products that we tried by Naked Princess, (amazing lipgloss and sugar scub) and a body glitter by a company in B-More. I loved them, she sells them, I brought them! Score! We also got a gift card for a future service. Bottom line, don't judge a book by its cover, my bourgeois self just learned an awesome lesson. I will definitely be going back, because Chandler taught me a thing or two.

I purchased a Living Social deal for The Makeup Lounge which included a makeup session for 6 friends and light refreshments. Usually a session like this is $500, but Living Social had a steal for $69! SOLLLLD! We had sooooo much fun!!!! I love a makeup artist that can use drug store makeup and look amazing! You meet or see so many makeup artists that expect you to pay ridiculous prices for makeup that makes your skin look fake and feel heavy. No thanks, I'll pass. Not these ladies, we used products that we could purchase at our local drug or beauty store. They walked us through step by step how to apply concealer, foundation, finishing face powder, blush, bronzer, highlighter, primer anddddd how to sexay up our eyes. So much fun, and I'm sure with lots of practice, the RIGHT way, I'll become a master. The Makeup Lounge was an awesome way to spend the day with my girlfriends. I had been doing my hair for years prior to finding Tara and after a bad color job that involved a green tint (yuck), Tara spent hours detoxing my hair and correcting the color to a beautiful, cool, platinum blonde. Prior to finding Do & Dye I really didn't trust anyone to do my hair. I had several experiences where I paid enormous amounts of money at salons to leave with "meh" hair. But at Do & Dye, they combine high quality with reasonable prices. Since finding Do & Dye, Tara has moved out of state but even with the change of ownership, the quality of service has not changed whatsoever. I now go to Rebecca, the Queen of blonde, and absolutely love everything about her work! Rebecca takes her time, is extremely considerate and meticulous. She is always asking if the temperature of blow dryers or water is okay. She goes out of her way to make sure you feel comfortable. She keeps detailed notes about your color and toning to make sure results are consistent from visit to visit. She let me know what she was doing every step of the way from the eye makeup to the lashes. She also gave me the choice for lashes or not, being that it was a photoshoot, lashes made sense. Chelsea was very gentle with my face and used great products. The way she did my makeup was nice and natural with small pops that made a difference for my eyes and my lips. I loved my look and that she took the time to make sure I could purchase the lip gloss shade that she used and a pad to wipe away any shinyness with translucent powder on the pad. I very much look forward to seeing Chelsea again and learning how to do my makeup regularly.
