I love our hometown movie theater! It's conveniently located in downtown Chanhassen. Parking is always easy. It's nice that we have our own theater and don't need to drive far to see films. The tickets are reasonably priced, and they have a rewards card for extra value. Their various snacks are yummy and always made fresh. Boxed candy is available, too. The owners are friendly and deserve our support. They even decorated the entryway to provide Christmas spirit! Come on, people. Support our local businesses!! read more

I recently went to a movie at the Chanhassen cinema and have been going to movies there for years but this visit was different...and not in a good way. Tickets were sold when you walked in but never taken...had we not purchased tickets we could have walked into a movie with no ticket. The popcorn was not fresh, it was chewy and stale, and the sizes have recently been changed and are much smaller for the same or more money. Once we were in the theater to see a rather quiet and sad movie (TFIOS), we could hear lots of sound from the theater next to us...it was distracting. All in all, this wasn't a good experience. In an age where theaters need to rethink how to attract customers away from netflix and other alternatives, the Chanhassen cinema should spend some time reinventing itself. Its not a good value or good experience to see a movie there anymore and even the popcorn is disappointing. I would spend the extra dollar or two and go to EP or West End. read more

Love the environment here! It's an amazing theaters for families and for friends to go and hang out. Although it is a little bit smaller than a lot of the other theaters around it's an amazing place and it feels super homey The prices are nice, they are less than a ticket at a bigger theater it's about $7.25 for an adult or child over 13! read more

I have no idea why this theatre is getting bad reviews...we come here all the time as it's never crowded and it's just a nice family theatre complex. It's always clean and The temp is comfortable...and the sound is not blaring so loud that you need earplugs like so many theaters. They have all the latest shows at a little lower price. read more

I live in Waconia, but drive to chan. I luv the popcorn & the staff is always friendly. Awhile back there was an issue at the theatre. I had bought tickets on dealflicks for a movie tht nite, but the theatre was closed. The manager gave me a note for my purchase to come back another night. Thxxxxx chan cinema. read more

Got here 4:00 min early to see Rogue One at 4:40, and they were cleaning it up until past 4:30. Half of the lobby was full of people waiting to get in. Good thing it's a movie worth waiting for. read more

Do not come here. Don't do it. I bought my tickets fairly to get into a movie only to get kicked out and not get a refund... for a policy they claimed was posted on the register which was NOT posted. They simply said get out and that they are not refunding me. BS... honestly do not ever come get it's a wast of time. Went to see Rogue One here today. First thing I walked in and the ticket-purchasing is automated, no one at the ticket desk. Which is fine except I went to the left side of the counter where there are no signs about that and so I just stood there like an idiot for a couple minutes while a few staff made eye contact with me and totally ignored me. Finally I figured it out and bought my ticket at the concession stand because I was using cash which the automated screens apparently can't accept. So I walked into the theater a few minutes late thinking it's fine, they always show trailers before the movie anyway. But no, the movie has already started. I like having the trailers at the beginning of movies, I don't know why this theater apart from every other theater ever decides to start the feature film on the minute without anything before it, but you need to warn people if you're going to do that because people plan on the trailers being there. As I was walking in, someone was asking a staff member of he (the customer) could turn off the overhead lights because the movie was starting. There isn't someone who knows when to turn off the overhead lights? Were they expecting us to watch the movie with the lights on? THEN, the movie itself was so dark I got a headache trying to strain my eyes to see it. I realize this movie is supposed to be darker than the others, but you can't enjoy a movie if you can't see it. Turn up the brightness so people can actually see the movie they paid to see! In addition to all of this, there was a constant red glow at the lower right hand of the screen the entire time. It was probably an exit sign or something, but every other theater I've ever been to had managed to have emergency exits without allowing them to obscure the movie itself. It was very distracting. Bottom line, if you're going to have people pay $10 (at matinee prices), to see a movie at your facility, you should know the basics of letting them SEE the movie. Don't go to this theater if you can possibly help it. It's the worst theater I've ever been to and there are plenty others reasonably close by. read more

I use to go here all the time as a kid before the Eden Prairie mall was remodeled (mid 90's). Then as I got to be in middle school and high school it was "cool" to go to the EP mall theater instead. I went to see a movie here a few weeks ago after not being at the theater in over ten years. The place is outdated and has really gone downhill. If you want a cheaper deal (tickets are $7-8.50) and don't want to pay prices at AMC I would suggest going here. The seats are not that comfortable, are small, and the arm rests don't move. The theaters also have small screens. I'm not sure how this place has stayed in business with competition for the AMC. Basically, if you go here expecting it to be like the AMC theaters you will be very disappointed. read more

I have had many good times at this theater, but recently I have encountered many problems. The prices have been raised, which I believe is unfair due to the quality of the theater and customer service. My last visit consisted of a very unpleasant employee by the name of Jake. He flipped off my friends and I and taunted us. He used vulgar language toward us. We tried getting a refund after this and wasn't allowed one although there policy states that we were entitled to one. This experience was detrimental to my theater experience, henceforth I believe it would be an unwise decision to go to this theater. read more

Terrible theater. I went on Christmas day. 80 people outside in line for tickets to the 4:30 shows......ONE TICKET SELLER. Place was dirty, bathrooms dirty and I darn near froze in the theater. I had my hands in my pockets for 3 hours I was so cold. Never again. read more

12-22-2015 went to see mocking jay in theatre #8 i did not realize that this complex is a heat optional facility the temperature was 50 degrees in the theatre. i went to complain to the [18 year old] manager and was told [the heat has been out in there since the 17th and won`t be fixed today] i asked for a refund and was given 2 vouchers for popcorn and a soft drink. if you decide to go to this facility, i suggest asking if all the theatres are all heated today before you purchase your tickets. otherwise make sure you have enough warm clothing with to comfortably sit for 2+ hours in freezing temperatures read more

although the other chanhassen cinema listing on yelp indicates it is closed, i admit it SHOULD be, but it is not. we tried to find it, it's in a poorly mapped area, not marked at all, in what appears to be a construction zone. we thought it was closed too when we walked up but three happy employees were there. there phone # takes you to a voice mail that asks you to enter in extensions and no zero out option to find out info on directions, in fact it refers you to another phone # if you want to find out movie times. the place is a mess. read more

The last reviews are horribly outdated, I went and was pleasantly surprised. Everything about the cinema was very clean and cheerful. It was very easy to find. A pleasant young man answered the phone when I called, was very cheerful and answered all of my questions. The tickets are not horribly priced like AMC. All the employee's were dressed in polo's and work pants. They all had name tags and helped. They were very cheerful and happy to suggest and tell you all the deals for the cinema. The lobby, although slightly outdated was logically laid out and easy to get around. The theaters themselves though were a little more complicated, you had to go down some hallways to get to the back theaters. It was very clean. The floor was not sticky at all unlike the AMC theaters. Tickets were way cheaper. Food prices were way cheaper, the popcorn was delicious. It is made with coconut oil and they use real butter. Sizes are proportional to the cost, unlike AMC, $6 for a small popcorn at AMC (shudders) The movies were completely up to date, the movie itself was high quality. They have recently purchased all digital projectors. The seats are comfortable. Although the arm rest still don't move. The screens themselves are not giant. But for $7.25 a ticket I was happy. All in all, I think if they just update their lobby a bit they would truly become, a five star cinema. read more
