Didn't want to resort to leaving a review especially after the one woman telling me business has been slow and to please keep coming back BUT- after going here 4-5x and finally finding a reasonably priced pedi with gel + French ($65) i sadly will not be going back . During my pedicure today I'm pretty sure they used a used foot scrubber. Did not give a foot massage. The lady was digging her hand into a jar full of scrub with out changing gloves etc that sits on her cart. All very unsanitary. My 9 year olds nails ended up being $40 which is already crazy enough. But they didn't even clean the dirt from under her nails. Im a extremely faithful client to a business who does good business and work but i unfortunately will no longer be coming back. And as a business owner too- if my complaints are not considered part of the service, don't list it or when trying to retain returning customers going a little extra mile such as cleaning dirt under nails on a child's $40 paint doesn't hurt. Jenny absolutely SLAYED my nails!!! She was so diligent and meticulous about each nail, leaving no cuticle untouched and not a single hangnail in sight. She shaped my nails so well that she took my short, stubby, sausage-looking fingers and turned them into long, skinny, model-looking hands! I was just looking to kill some time before boarding my cruise ship, and the entire staff was so friendly and accommodating by allowing me to come in with my luggage. I did make the mistake of going an hour before closing, so I could tell the nail tech was rushing through it. I haven't had a pedicure in almost 2 years due to foot issues and finances. I've got a major trip coming up and figured I should get one since I'll be doing a lot of walking in new shoes. I was super excited when I found this spot right next to my gym. I planned my whole day around coming and getting a pedicure and finally treating myself. I looked them up online to make sure they'd be open. Their website is gorgeous and you can make an appointment online, so clearly I think it's going to be nice and classy. I chose the Signature Pedicure after convincing myself that I deserved a little extra pampering and that $10 more wouldn't hurt. I walked in and it's your typical tiny over booked nail salon. Okay, no big deal, it's not the end of the world. I was a little early so I chose my color and stood and waited (because there really is no room for a waiting area). They told me to sit in one of the chairs and since they have the pedicure massage chairs, I was fine with this. So I was early for my appointment. And then my time came. And went. About 10 minutes after my appointment time they finally came over to set me to soak. Cool, fine, whatever, I'm on my second circuit with the massage chair. My phone is running low on battery and the infomercial that was on was terrible but 10 minutes after that, I'm finally getting my toes done and yay for that. She hands me their little booklet with all the options for pedicures. I had booked a Signature online but apparently what you book means nothing. So I didn't even really look at it, I handed it right back and said I was getting the Signature. Okay, no problem. There's a lot of steps but I don't know what goes into all the types, I just knew I was gonna get hot towels (my face part) and a leg massage. Over an hour after I walked in, I'm sitting there getting dried. I got up to leave and realized I hadn't even paid yet. I honestly feel now like I should have just kept walking but I stopped at the counter and she gave me my total. A total $20 more than I had anticipated. I asked if that was for the Signature pedicure. "Yes, yes. I used the volcano on you." ...wait. Huh? "Yes, you pointed at the volcano so you got the volcano, it's $55." I didn't point at anything. I made an appointment. I verbally told you what I wanted. I didn't even look at the booklet. The only reason I didn't throw a fit is because I'm anxious in situations like this and she did perform the service she charged me for so I felt obligated. So now I'm out more than I had intended. I remember now why I almost never go to nail salons anymore. I hate being taken advantage of and Channelside Nails is as bad as any for it, apparently. read more

Finding a good nail salon is so hard! I have been coming to this place for several months now and every time I come in, it is something different. Over the course of the last two months or so, every time I come in here I feel like I am an inconvenience to the staff or that they're trying to rush me out of the door. This is just a few of the instances where I have been in and the owner has been beyond unprofessional. It now makes absolute sense why when I visit, most times, it is a ghost town. The owner constantly would try to get me to do my nails at the same time that I am getting my pedicure and when I tell her that I would like to do the two services separately and that I do not enjoy getting my nails done while I am doing my pedicure, that seems to set her off. There has even been an instance (in the middle of doing my nails I might add), that she stopped doing my nails to call and argue with her daughter about coming into the store to work. And not just a polite conversation, but her actually getting loud on the phone, in front of myself and other customers. Today was my last and final attempt at salvaging that business relationship. I brought in the nail that broke, to show her why it had broke. This was the second time I had to come in within ONE WEEK! I tried to show her that the nail was filed down way too thin and ultimately was the cause of the nail breaking to begin with. She just brushed it off as nothing and didn't even choose to acknowledge me. She in fact, ignored me and said nothing, but instead decided to speak in Vietnamese so I could not understand her, to the other staff to bad mouth me. If you're looking for a nice salon, this is NOT it! There are far more other talented nail techs out there who would NEVER treat their customers the way this salon does. I feel bad for the rest of the staff who have to deal with such an angry woman on a daily basis. In addition to this review, I have also filed a formal complaint against this business with the Better Business Bureau -- for poor service and for using expired product. Take a look at the glass case by the door next time you are in. Their "fungus treatment" they sell, expired YEARS ago! I will not be returning. I've been to this location 3 times. Each time has been really unfortunate. Today's service was the straw that broke the camel's back. I was charged 35 for a pedicure and an additional 7 dollars to remove the color I had on previously. I've never been charged that before. Yes, I had red on, yes it took a bit more acetone to remove the color but what is the service of a pedicure if not to remove the previous color and add a new one? It feels like the customer is being gauged for no reason. The other two times I came, 1 of them I had an appointment and they were 15/20 minutes late to begin my service. Almost had to leave in order to still make my event. Then the first time I came they had me sit with my feet in the bowl for 20/25 minutes before starting. I let a team member know I would be heading out if the service didn't start soon because my feet were pruning and I wouldn't have stayed if I knew it would be this long of a wait. They kept taking people coming in the door and I was just there like a sitting duck. Overall, it doesn't feel respectful to get your nails done here, at least I haven't felt that. I can't believe I'm spending 42 dollars on a basic pedicure when I could have done the exact same thing just a few minutes away for less money and a better customer experienice. They asked me to come back later or some time this week but I work a full time job and only have time on the weekends. Firstly, I must admit that I am extremely picky and critical of any mani/pedi I get, having been a regular recipient of such for 30+ years. My husband and I moved from the northeast 6 years ago to downtown Tampa and this was a very convenient shop to our new home. I told my hubby that if he was going to start wearing flip flops all the time, he would have to get used to receiving regular pedicures. He initially wasn't looking forward to this, thinking that pedis were only for the ladies. But after only one visit to Sonda's shop and a Deluxe Pedicure later, he was sold. Now he often asks me, "when's the next time we're going to see Sonda?" Honestly, this is really a great business. The people who work here (Sonda, Min Quinn, Tony (we call him Paco), Karen and Diamond, just to name a few) are so sweet, friendly and really care about their clients. The massage chairs you sit in while enjoying a pedicure are awesome. I personally love how Sonda does my ombre French [acrylic] manicure. She often jokes with me that some day I'll actually try a color on my nails; but I assure her that Paco does a great job on my pedicures and I'm happy to have them be the colorful ones. We moved 25 minutes outside of Tampa 3 years ago and still drive into downtown to get our mani/pedis; they're that good! Came to this location for my first time to get SNS dipping powder after some friends told me how much they loved their nails and will never return. I called ahead, asked for the nail tech they recommended and I was told to come on in. When I got there, I quickly learned that the lady I requested was off on Sunday but I figured that another person would be ok too (first mistake and wish they told me upfront she was unavailable). I had to have gel removed prior to the manicure.They went forward with trying to take off my gel but after 20 minutes of "soaking" they resorted in using a drill to get off the gel. I should've questioned this but didn't (second mistake). I indicated to the nail tech that I had never had dip and that I was nervous-- don't get me wrong, the lady tried to be nice but the language barrier didn't help ease my nerves. She began my manicure and was very reliant on a drill because apparently my gel wouldn't come off and I was told that it's because I had dip in and not gel--I had JUST said I had never had dip. I never had acrylic nails either so the drill was a bit scary. Because I heard so many great things about dip ( no UV, etc) that I had to try it to keep my nails stronger however my stong nails were now paper thin which made me even more anxious and upset. I chose a color a very pale/cream pink and when they brought the powder, it was a lot brighter however I figured that the color in the container would become lighter (3rd mistake). The nail tech didn't communicate how to 'dip' my nail. I have seen dip done and the tech ALWAYS guides your finger --not in this case. By the time the dip was done, my nails had chunks on dip on them (you can still see the sad like texture in the color) plus the cuticle area was not cleaned/smooth lines -- it's rigid and looks very jagged. The dip also makes my nails look like press on nails like a young child would wear not to mention that the color is pepto-bismol pink. The salon put gel on as a top coat. I questioned this since this wasn't normal from my research but again was told this is what THEY do(mistake again on my part). For $45 , this was a nightmare. My nails look terrible, I'm self conscious about them, I'm out of my money and I can't pay to get them redone because o think they're probably too weak now to get all of this extra "work" done on them to make them right. I messaged my friends after who said that this is NOT the experience they had. Their nails do always look great but mine do not. I will not return and will not recommend this location for SNS dipping powder. **update to my review- as of 48 hours later, the top coat of gel they insisted on has peeled off my nail leaving them rough and exposed (picture 3) read more

Literally the worst salon I've ever been to in Tampa. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! Go to any other salon in tampa where you're greeted with kindness like Envy nails or Tampa nails on Kennedy -where they are professional and understanding given that you're paying for a service that isn't a huge waste of your time or money! The owner or whoever runs the place is so rude and acts like asking her any questions or being in her shitty salon is a bother. They are way understaffed and don't focus on just one client at a time. They don't greet you or offer you any water or anything. While I was waiting for my technician aka the rude broad , there were two ladies that had appointments scheduled at the same time, and have been there before. They asked if they would have someone doing each of their nails, or if it was going to be "one" lady doing both their nails simultaneously again. The lady replied that it would just be one technician for both of them. Then after some time while the other was waiting for her turn, the lady tells her the tech is ready for her. She already had her nails all wrapped up in the foil and was expected to grab all her stuff and move. Then the chick next to me that was there before me, eventually asked if she should come back at another time when they weren't so busy. Once she actually started working on my nails, my skin started having an awful burning sensation from something she used. Not only that, I was deciding between two nail colors and asked to see what they looked like on a nail, she got annoyed about it. I didn't like the first color she put on my nails, and asked for the other color please. She then goes to me in A bitchy tone "Are you sure this time? I have alot of people waiting. After I let my nails "dry" and drove home, I went to grab something out of my pocket, and all of my nails smudged!!! LITERALLY EVERY NAIL came off like butter. Called the salon to let her know all my nails smudged and she continued being a rude, unprofessional "whatever her title is" to me on the phone and said "when you get acrylics with regular color, they come off easy ". I've been getting them done for awhile now with just regular color and never had this issue. I told her I wanted a full refund or I was going to write a nasty review about my horrible experience. Instead of saying "I'm sorry that your nails smudged, you can come back in tomorrow and I'll fix them for you".
