My wife and I had a very disappointing experience with Chantz Scott Kia. We purchased a vehicle, and within just three weeks--before even making our first payment--the starter failed. We contacted our salesperson, Chris Cash, a local loser, who told us that if we had the vehicle towed back to the dealership, they would "take care of us." Based on that assurance, we paid out of pocket to have the vehicle towed there. Once it arrived, we were then told it would cost over $500 to replace the starter. That is not what we consider "taking care of" a customer, and it shows a clear lack of follow-through on what was promised. If we had been told upfront that we would be responsible for the repair, we would have handled it ourselves and avoided the towing expense altogether. This was a frustrating and avoidable situation. We strongly recommend getting any promises in writing before relying on verbal assurances from this dealership. read more

I had to order a part for my car: - over$200 for an oil filter housing - told they would call when the part came in- NOT - picked it up and told no return Had oil changed and the part didn't fit Took it back and let them know it was the wrong part, it didn't fit, and left it. I have never been one to leave a bad review, however I feel I need to warn others because of my experience. I suppose I should have read others reviews myself before attempting to come here. I was inquiring about a van, I don't necessarily need a van but since my partner and I have a growing family I wanted to look and also lower my current car payment. I went back and forth emailing and asked questions about the vehicle and didn't really receive any information of value, and then just stopped receiving emails all together. Not a big deal, we wanted to see the van before we made a decision anyway so my partner and I decided to stop by. We saw this van for all of 5 seconds before we were rushed inside to just "talk." This is where I have issues. We did not get an opportunity to ask questions, which is why we stopped by in the first place, nor did we even get to test drive the car before we were rushed into paperwork without even being explained what it was for. I kept being told, "you haven't bought anything until the end." But it seemed as though we were almost being tricked into buying the van without our consent. This brings me to my next point, doing a hard credit check without even telling us. It's not that it happened that made me frustrated, it's that during the process I was never once told what was going on. We literally just stopped in to look at this van to see if we should even consider it, and basically felt like we were being hustled. Never once during this experience from beginning to end did we feel heard or of value. After calling to talk to the manager about this experience we were met with immediate disrespect and lack of empathy. I understand protecting a business, however looking at these reviews I suggest maybe taking the feedback and attempting to do better. I am not the only one who feels this way, and I don't believe I will be the last if this is who is setting an example for the rest of the staff. I wouldn't buy off of them if I were walking. I was there Saturday trying to buy an Suv and they tried to screw me over on finance. They started out asking me for 84 months and I said they were crazy so they automatically dropped it to 60 months for the same payment which was ridiculous. I live in Virginia. So have to have a front license plate holder. Bought my car brand new in August, called back and asked if they could get me the front plate holder. Manager said that isn't in the deal and I can order one from the parts. Really, 45k car and you can't send a 30 dollar front bracket. I do not recommend at all!!!! Welcome to a haven for car salesmen that earn the reputation that particular job has in our society. I went to the dealership Aug 23rd interested in a 2104 Buick LaCrosse with 23,000 miles on it. After less than 3 weeks, the check engine light has flipped multiple times and I discovered 3 bent rims through a local certified mechanic shop. The dealership fixed one light and one rim and they refuse to replace the other rims even after telling me multiple times any issues would be handled. Slimes really doesn't do these gentlemen justice. If you value honor and integrity, and a company that treats veterans with the utmost respect, another dealership may be what you are looking for. read more

Don't know if the owner changed or not but the culture in this dealership is not what it used to be. They tried to tell me my battery needed to be changed... on a 2019 car. Then told me that Kia would probably not sell the car I'm leasing to me... even though it states on the contract that I would have the option of buying my car at the end of my lease. Don't know if I'm more disappointed in them trying to sell me a battery I don't need or lying and intimidating me into giving up a car I do need. They used to have a really kind manager as well, and I just learned that he left. Overall, not going back to give them any business, and I wouldn't trust them tinkering with my car since they might break things instead of repairing it. read more

In 2020 bought a Telluride for Chantz Scott and thought it was the best dealership ever. The sales people were nice and they went way beyond what was required of them. Of course when I started looking for another car in 2023 I went back. I found and bought a 2023 Sorento. My wife loved the car and it never hurts to have the owner come over and tell you "If you ever have a problem call me direct". When I got the car home and pulled out the paper floor mats I realized that paper was it, there were no floor mats. Assumed it was an oversight and called Josh my salesman. He said he would deal with the issue but the sales manger was out due to a health issue with his son. Waited for a number of weeks, called Josh a number of times without any real conclusions, just postponements. Then I started trying Chantz. After 3 calls, never available, and no return calls, I finally was directed to Chantz's right hand man. Jake, (I think), proceeded to imply that I was stupid to expect floor mats without checking the MSRP listing to verify that they came with the vehicle. I was stupid, I did not verify every line of the MSRP listing. Didn't know that was necessary with a dealership I once trusted. read more

I took my Kia in to them because the tailgate wasn't opening sometimes, it was very intermittent. They said I needed video for my warranty to cover it since it was opening for them, I got video a few days later. So they looked at it again(had my car 7 hours) to tell me to bring it back when the part got here. So I did, they had it all day again, the latch is about a 60 minute job which is the part they're replacing. A few days after I picked my car up the latch wasn't working (mind you it was the first time I had used it since picking it up). It was doing it intermittently again. I called them up, they had my car from 9:00 am until 4:45 pm, and all the mechanic said was, well I've been checking it all day and it hasn't done it. So I take it home and the next day it starts up again. I recorded it. I took them my car and tried to show them the video but Summer said, he has to be able to stand right in front of it to hear it, the video won't help, girl, I am literally showing you proof that he didn't fix the issue and you're refusing to watch it? So now we're 2 months into it and my tailgate still doesn't work properly. These guys know nothing about Kia's, you would think they would, they work at a Kia dealership, but when I told them that I did a Google search and it seems to be a very common problem in my year and model Kia the mechanic said, nope, I don't know anything about that, apparently he doesn't know anything about cars either. Never again, after 4 times of bringing my car back and paying my $200 deductible I'm not doing it again. And now I'm past my 30 day warranty through my maxcare which means I get to pay someone else $200 to fix the very thing I paid these idiots to fix. They sold me a used car without a mechanical inspection, NONE! I needed an oil change, brake pads and rotors and my windshield wipers didn't work all in less than 3weeks from time of purchase. When I took it in they said it would take about an hour or an hour and a half but no more. I was there 5 hours!!! After spending all day there I left and my maintenance light came on after 4 miles! Had to go back again and they said it just had to be reset (again)! The girl at the service desk was rude as hell, my salesman looked lost and his only response was "uh uh uh well uh they took it from the body shop to you so it missed the shop." read more

Could only post if I gave them a star. I have witnessed this dealership taking advantage of elderly people. Supposedly fixing their car and end up messing it up in the process, then childishly throwing the blame on the owner. Over charging for services and giving them the run around. I personally would not recommend Kia of Kingsport or Johnson City. They are rude and disrespectful. To take advantage of elderly people is a disgrace to human kind. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!! My wife got their scratch off card in the mail, she was unable to go herself due to work schedule, I went to the dealership on stone drive and they not only refused to honor their scratch off card but were a group of the most unprofessional , arrogant, argumentative group of loafers, this is not the first , the other scratch off they had they refused to honor it and gave me a hand written note for a small discount on their overpriced service.....take my advice don't buy from Kia of Kingsport, you will not get fair treatment, this visit ended up in an argument from top management to the salesman, over aggressive, unprofessional and argumentative and do not honor their own promotion. now in order to post this review I have to rate them, so I will use 1 star but prefer to use minus 5 read more

They ran a hard inquiry credit report after telling me over and over that it would only be a soft inquiry. My credit score went down 7 points thanks to these idiots. They also add $10,000 to every car price for "economic" reason, more like gouging reasons. Avoid this place if you value honesty and your credit score. I've been trying for a month to get this crap off my credit report but they just keep trying to explain it away and telling me it will "drop off in 30 days" that's not how this works idiots!! Josh Blevins was my sales guy and he was not only clueless about how credit works, he was also clueless about the car I was test driving, sat in the back seat and googled answers to questions I had...what a guy. To get me inside to "deal" he guaranteed me 3 times that it would only be a soft credit pull but it's not, the company they use to pull credit is a MORTGAGE credit company called CREDCO. I have filed complaints with the FTC and CFPB and am seriously considering filing a lawsuit for this clear violation of the FCRA. read more

Went to buy a car yesterday; at first the sales man was very nice and helpful. After test driving the vehicle and finding a couple things wrong with the car we went to talk with the sales manager. He was VERY rude and came across VERY arrogant. He refused to fix the third row seat motor that would not raise the back seat and refused to put a set of tires on this vehicle. The tires were dry rotted and almost bald. Also, he told us before we found the seat problem that his guys checked out everything and that the car was a good one. Then flat out lied to my face when we confronted him about the seat not raising. I would have bought the vehicle if he would have just put tires on the thing. I didn't trust them to even drive them home. Lost a sale and a customer. I will never go back there for anything. Beware of this dealership they are liars. read more

Bought a 2019 Sorento ex Feb 7,2019. We live in Virginia so we have to have front and back tags. They said they'd take care of getting the registration and put a tag holder on the front. I have vanity plates. When it came out from being washed there was no front tag holder. They said they would order it. We went back when they said they'd have it and still no plate holder or registration. It's over forty miles one way. Waited until the first of March and called. Set up a appointment the 5th to get the tags put on and get my registration. I was told they had the registration but one told me they had put the plate holder on another car the day before. They try to take one off another car and it didn't fit. My husband was told a different story outside. We were given another 30 day tag and told they'd get the right tag holder. Haven't heard from them. Don't think they wanted to put on the front tag. Very disappointed with the service. read more

Six months ago I bought an extended warranty through KIA of Kingsport. Unfortunately, the care was totaled in late December. I contacted the dealership about canceling the policy and was asked to submit a loss statement from the insurance company. I was told the policy would be canceled when that information was in hand and that I was due a rebate. Since then I have heard nothing from the company. I sent two followups with copies of the loss statement. One txt message with a copy of the loss statement and attempted to call the finance director on two other occasions. I was sent to his voice mail. A month late and I still have not heard from them. Since the $93 payment is still being charged against my credit card and I have had no response from the dealer I disputed the charge and contacted the third party that processes the payments. The confirmed that no paperwork has been submitted by the dealership and that I was due a rebate, but it had to be mailed to the dealership - not me. This company has an excellent service and parts department. Outside of those two my dealings with them have been unsatisfactory. read more
