Very disappointing.. I have donated NEW FOOD here for years, probably over 400 pounds over the last 3 or so years. Today I was chewed out for including FRESH hot dog buns and bread. They have taken it in the past. I have NEVER received a simple "thank you" when I have dropped food off. I have noticed they offer breaded goods on the shelf inside from time to time. I will NEVER donate here again. Obviously they don't appreciate people trying to help. I am sure I will find other venues that will happily take the food. I guess I am happy that they have all the food that they need and don't need or even appreciate help. read more

The store usually has the most beautiful furniture! The workers are always so pleasant and kind and they run discounts on the already reasonable pricing almost daily. There is a different feeling to this store vs stores of similar style . Good people that seem to care run this one ! read more

I go over to CHAP regularly. It is the only thrift store where (a) the prices and discounts are awesome, (2) I always find a treasure that is exactly what I'm looking for - even if I'm not looking for it, (3) has great prices for kids clothes, and (4) I don't feel like I need to take a shower when I go home. The workers there are ALWAYS friendly and helpful. I love wandering through by myself or with some friends. I rarely leave there empty handed! read more

First of all I rarely get to this side of Burnsville so if I'm in the area I stop to see what they have. Their pricing is kinda ridiculous for a thrift store. For example a used t-shirt is $6 but today clothing is 50% off and everything in store is 30% off. Records are $1.99 and evidently don't sell at this price along with rows of VHS videos. I really believe this store does not get very good donations. On a plus side: free flowers and bread from Trader Joe's and cub. They have free food shelf for everyone on certain days also. Maybe I'll be back in. 6 months or so. Maybe then I'll find something to buy. There are better thrift stores around. read more

Shopped on a holiday sale day when everything was half off. Everything is very well organized and their is so much furniture! Staff seems a little odd but okay. I believe this place is run by a church community which is great for collecting food for people in need (there was a little food collection area) but they had the Christian radio station playing and not everyone is comfortable with that. My favorite thrift store, hands down. Super well organized, and very nice merchandise. The women's clothing is grouped by color and size, with another section of the store ("The Galleria" or something like that) housing their more upscale women's clothing (formal gowns, blazers, jackets, etc). Their furniture is some of the nicest thrift furniture I've ever seen... it's more expensive than what you might find at a Goodwill, for example, but you're really getting what you're paying for. The bric-a-brac is usually where your average thrift store falters (read: it is all crap), but Chap's shelves are surprisingly uncluttered, and generally filled with things a person would conceivably want to buy. They have a white board up front where they post their daily sales (I seem to find that Fridays are the best day to come in, as clothing tends to be 50% off). If you live in the immediate vicinity, cut out their coupon in that blue coupon magazine you get in your junk mail (the name of which escapes me) for $10 worth of items for $5. I usually have a hard time making it to $10 when I shop here, which is just great. One of the other reviews hit the nail on the head, mentioning the weird Jesus-y atmosphere. I think there is actually a sanctuary in the back of the store?? They play Christian music over the PA, and it can become quite grating quite quickly. I suffer through it to get the sweet clothes at those sweet, sweet prices. A small price to pay. The store essentially raises money to fund their outreach ministries, including a food shelf and a Christmas gift program for the needy. Sounds good to me. EDIT: So the other person's review that called out the Chap Value Store's "Jesus-y" music was deleted, and now I just look like a meany. I am aware that at least one Chap employee has read this review (shout out to you, guy!), and I swear that the music has not been nearly as loud the last several times I've been in there. So maybe I'm wrong here, but if you did turn the PA down, thanks for the solid, guy. read more

Chaps is always a hit or miss thrift stop for me I have been able to find some amazing pieces of clothing for work examples include 3.50 slacks that are from BCBG or The Loft. They always have some fun deals going on I have never had to pay the price thats on the tag ever while going there. They often have lots of seniors having their morning coffee there because they have a sectioned off area for free coffee and doughnuts or baked goods. I've even seen them give out free banquets of flowers to customers! Makes me feel like going to grandmas house because of all the old furnishings and seniors around but in a good way. The only down side would be that they dont have a return policy what you buy you cant bring back but other than that its a great place to find hidden treasures. read more

My favorite thrift store in the area. Crap, maybe I better not tell anyone else about this hidden gem. But it's just that good. Very well organized, high quality and reasonably priced. I feel like they always have some sort of 40% off of ____ sale. This is the place I go for baskets for wedding gifts. Let's be real, those types of things are exorbitantly overpriced at places like Target, etc. Staff is very generous and typically kind during the busiest of times. Love it. read more

CHAP not only has GREAT prices, but they display things in a very pleasant and orderly fashion. I have never seen anything there that had that "thrift shop" look or feel about it. Everything is clean and reasonably easy to access. The staff is VERY pleasant to deal with too! I couldn't ask for a nicer place to shop. They even have a little 'cafe' type area for customers with Free coffee & Sweet little bites of something! YUMMY! I'm REALLY excited about the Grand Opening of their Ladies Boutique area!! read more

It seems like they have a lot of options because they have their furniture so high priced you'd have to be crazy to buy anything large. I can get a brand new table for the same price! Sure they're really nice tables.. But they're USED.. There's nothing thrifty about buying a 10 year old kitchen table for 400 bucks! read more

I discovered Chap Thrift store about 5-6 years ago. I love finding bargains of all types at thrift stores...this one is unique. The store is always super neat and organized. Displays are thoughtfully created making just even looking at merchandise a enjoyable experience. They choose good condition items--not garage sale cast-offs --and their prices are great! They have the largest (to my knowledge) area with good quality furniture at excellent prices. Another reviewer stated the Christian music was not to her liking.....I, in fact, love being able to shop and listen to this quality and uplifting music. Yes, do continue the music--and even turn it back up! I also appreciate and applaud the use of funds received from the sale of the merchandise--supporting missions. My family and I have been going to Chaps for a couple of years now. They are a private thrift store, so they are very dependent on the amount they charge for things. I think a lot of folks don't understand that they actually use their funds to not only take care of the overhead of running the store, but they fund their programs that help those that need assistance with food, rent, utilities and other basic needs. Most of the items are in great shape, clean and it's well organized. Most who work there are volunteers and they are awesome people - kind, warm and very willing to help. The community area is a nice place to grab a cup of coffee and a cookie, pull up a chair and get to know someone new. It's all about community. Buy, leave some of your unwanted, still usable items or leave a donation. They will make sure that it gets to someone who needs it. Good folks doing good things. read more

This thrift store is extremely over priced. They often have sales but even with 50% off clothing you still pay what regular price is in many other thrift stores. There are much more reasonably priced thrift stores in Dakota County. I'm going to skip this one from now on and I wouldn't recommend it to other people. read more

From my shopping experience the things here really aren't priced to sell. While I realize these are some really nice dining table sets and bedroom/living room furniture some are high priced so I'm thinking that's why their inventory isn't moving out the door. I can appreciate the free bread and donuts. The staff are friendly also. They were having customer appreciation day on Saturday the actual day I went in. I happened on this place by chance. A few years ago. yes, I keep coming back. About once a month. Yes, I like the free loaf of bread an you can get a cup of coffee and a donuts. Sit down and talk to someone. Or sit alone. Just like any used place, you gotta shop around the store. I have found a few gems. Baby clothes. Men clothes. Plus size clothes for women. Lamps, stationary. Plenty of glass wares. Yes, they have a few sad items. But, who else do you know that will wash up the linens before putting them out?By the way it is run by a Church, Yes they play christian music. So maybe I don't care for Halloween music and sad stuff. Or rock . Get used to it. Its like elevator music. Just go with it or tune it out. You don't have to shop there. Go to Good will or another. But they do have lots of sales and clearance items. Furniture looks pretty good sometimes. Couches and chairs. Like I said , "a free cup of coffee". You won't get that at other thrift shops. read more

This store is extremely over priced for a Christian store "helping" people. They get the stuff for free.. they also hand out food that they get FOR FREE but ask for donations. They have a food shelf on Saturday mornings, I was told they start handing out numbers at 9:05.. we showed up at 9:10 their were about 15 people there before us but somehow I got number 105 and my boyfriend got number 101... so I thought whatever they must randomly call numbers.. so we sat through the 30 min church service trying to keep out 18 month old entertained.. they start the number process at about 10:20 and THEY STARTED WITH NUMBER ONE. So we waited and watched (still trying to keep my baby entertained) and we noticed that they had two stacks of numbers... people were walking in after the service but "happened" to get number 20.. then we noticed it was the people that knew the volunteers or were close with the pastor that got the numbers from the lower pile. I believe they keep it open to the public to continue receiving free food donations from cub, hyvee, etc. but they definitely try to keep the donations in their circle. If you're ever struggling I would stay away from this place... from the overpriced items to the scam of a "food shelf". read more

I am a retired male on a small Social Security income. I'm not an expert, but I have shopped at about a hundred thrift stores, in 17 states, in the past 22 years. I shopped at the C.H.A.P. Thrift Store on Friday morning, Oct. 4th, 2019. The prices for used men's clothing were rather high (no cheaper than high-priced Goodwill or high-priced Saver's). The store is fairly large, not over-crowded, friendly staff, and items are well organized. I appreciated the store's generosity of free coffee and the free pastries and a place to sit down and rest and enjoy the treats! I also received 1 free package of hot dog buns and 1 free package of hamburger buns, both within their freshness dates! In the sports department, I dug-around in a plastic bin, and I found and purchased 3 items of small personal protection sports items for my athletic teen grandson's --- all new and unopened still in their original packaging! The prices were fair, and I was pleasantly surprised when I got home and discovered on my receipt that I received a 20% price discount! I expected to pay $7.00, but I was only charged $5.60. We visited Chap for the first time this past week and were pleasantly impressed. It appears that many people haven't heard of this nice thrift store. It is nicely laid out, clean and attractively decorated. The merchandise is of reasonably good quality, including the furniture. Items are neatly placed on shelves and hangers (not just a jumble of items stacked wherever they could jam it in). Seniors receive a 40% discount on Wednesdays, and clothing items are usually discounted heavily. The employees are very helpful and courteous, and the Christian background music didn't bother us at all, even though some reviewers have complained about it (apparently non-Christians). We found it to be remindful of our blessings and the good work this store is doing for a broad range of customers in the community, regardless of their religion or lack thereof. I had heard wonderful things about this store so yesterday I decided to check it out. Wow, what a surprise. All of the clothes were organized by color and size. I was so impressed. I ended up finding as womens Bill Blass leather jacket for $29.99 and a sweater I loved that was pink. I got to the register and they said my total was $18 and some odd sense. WOW, unbelievable. They also have lots of baby stuff and furniture. I was very very impressed and will be back often. Check it out you will not be sorry! read more

This was the first time I'd been there in a couple of years and was really disappointed. The prices have gone sky-high, esp. on anything they consider "designer". $10 and up for pilled, mall brand sweaters? No thanks. I did however find an authentic Gucci clutch for $1 mixed in with the fakes and cheap stuff. I might stop in there once in a blue moon, but I definitely won't be a regular. read more
