I purchased a plant for my mom, who is a teacher, for her first day of school through the Chappell's Florist website. I don't live in Vermont, and their website made it so easy for me to schedule a delivery from another state. I realized the day the morning that the plant was supposed to be delivered that I forgot to select a time for the delivery, and panicked and called them immediately. I wanted it to be delivered during school hours, and wanted to make sure it would get there in time. The woman who answered the call was so friendly and said that they noticed it was being delivered to a school when they received the order and were already planning on delivering it during school hours. I couldn't believe this - it was so kind of them to even notice! The plant was delivered around 1pm at my mom's school. Shout out to the amazing customer service at Chappell's Florist, and thank you so much for getting this delivered on time. I can't imagine how many other orders they had, especially because it was the first day of school for many students/teachers that day. The delivery service for the flowers is top notch. I received a call from the deliverer and he was extremely kind and careful when he asked where to leave the flowers when my friend/recipient was away from her apartment building. He very sincerely offered to wait there until I could confirm where she was. I quickly found out my friend was actually at the medical school, and he offered to drive there instead rather than the original address and even offered to go back to her apartment if it didn't work. I wanted to be considerate of his time and we decided to leave them at the hospital concierge. My friend's birthday was made from the tropical plant and huge birthday balloon that I ordered from Chappell's, and loved how the balloon was so noteworthy that strangers were wishing her happy birthday. I discovered long ago that if you are from a major city or used to sophisticated floral arrangements (ones not consisting of ferns, 3 multi-colored daisies and 2 carnations) you will be pretty disappointed with most northern VT florists. I suggest going to the shop and then directing the florist in exactly how you would like the arrangement to look. That's why years ago when I used to live away from VT, I never sent my mom flowers. I'd send her local chocolates or something else instead. I learned the hard way back in the 1990s. For my mom's bday (St. Patrick's Day) I called in a request to a florist in Middlebury (since closed) for a nice arrangement. I ended up paying $70 for 6 green carnations sticking out of a green foam log - with bits of fern poking out every which way. Even my mom was horrified. Luckily, they gave me a refund. That's why now, that I live in VT, I go to Chappell's and guide them through the process. I pick my own flowers and tell them how I want them arranged and I'm always happy that way. For Vermont they have a very good selection of flowers and they come in "fresh" each week. Probably the best florist in the area. There is a very nice one in Shelburne, too. But I forget the name. More along city standards. Last time Kelly (at Chappell's) helped me and she was wonderful. I really liked her. If you are considering sending a local in Vermont flowers (and you're calling them in from elsewhere) I suggest rethinking your gift idea. Send chocolates or a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant instead. Or be very specific on the phone because the arrangements online never end up looking the same way in reality... At least not in northern VT :) read more

This is a wonderful florist! I highly recommend! I wanted to send a special birthday arrangement to my daughter and Chappell's did an amazing job creating a beautiful, fresh, pastel colored bouquet exactly to my specifications. They even had a lovely box of chocolate truffles as a delicious addition! I received an email confirmation letting me know the exact time of delivery and will use them again soon. The other florist I tried to contact never returned my calls and after leaving several messages and I am so happy i found Chappell's on Yelp. I couldn't disagree more with the above review. I have booked Chapell's for my wedding in August. I met with Kris and from the moment we sat down, she has held my hand on so many items in planning my special day. She is so accommodating. I ordered a sample of my flowers and she took time to meet with me and show me arrangement options. I was able to take them home and borrow a vase from her. I got so many compliments on the arrangement of orchids. The flowers are the most important thing aside from marrying the love of my life. I will never use another florist after the service I received and keep receiving. read more

I completely understand the fact that it is cheaper to do it on your own that is not what I was mainly speaking about. The fact that you put a sarcastic reply to my issue sums up how my complaint of the work that was provided was handled. My review was not embellished whatsoever. The true fact is I had an issue and they told me to fix it myself. Their "trying to work with me was fix it yourself and we will pay you for your time". I wouldn't have taken my time to review if I didn't feel like they were rude and not helpful whatsoever when we had an issue. I don't appreciate the sarcasm especially with the amount of money that I have previously spent at this establishment. There are many very nice employees at Chappells but the people that handle things when things go wrong are not helpful. read more

May 13,2014 Yesterday I received a Mother"s Day gift from Chappell's Florist. Orchids are my favorite. The delivery was three orchids on moss that arrived in a cheap fishbowl. The arrangement was less than average and the "moss" smelled like dog doo. Other arrangements we have received from this shop showed no creativity as well. We used Chapells Florist for our wedding this past saturday (August 12) and I have to say, I was blown away with how beautiful everything was! I went into Chappells unsure of exactly what I wanted, but I knew I wanted pops of sunflowers, with some blue's. They took that inspiration and ran with it. All of the flowers at my wedding (Boutineers, Corsages, Centerpieces, Archway Spray) all looked stunning, and I can't say enough good things! Thy only small issue we had was that my husband's boutineer (white rose) broke off of it's stem right after the ceremony so he didn't have it for our photos, but if we're honest...they're flowers, and hey, things happen! I've stopped in at Chappell's a few times since I've moved to South Burlington, usually trying to get something at the last minute, and they've always been fantastically helpful. When we were putting together some bouquets for a Cub Scout banquet, they even gave us a bunch of extra flowers for free. I know they haven't gotten good reviews, but I'm a little surprised by that. Perhaps deliveries are different. I had Chappell's do my wedding flowers, and they came out absolutely beautifully. I got great customer service! Amazing peach, pinks, reds, and orange colored bouquets. Everything delivered on time to the wedding, which included bridesmaid bouquets, bridal bouquet, etc. Very affordable for what we got, and absolutely stunning, fresh flowers. Couldn't have been happier. And it was as easy as it gets to plan, as i came from out of state. They matched my color scheme right from a phone call and pinterest photos. : ) read more
