As my husband and I began our search for the perfect place to get married, being native Vermonters we knew we wanted to stay as local to our hometowns as possible, but we also had a very specific type of venue we were looking for as well. We searched extensively and we actually began to think we might have to change our vision.... until we heard through a relative about a venue being BUILT as we searched! We went to see The Barn as soon as we could- the owners Steve and Jennifer DePalma were so accommodating to us from the very beginning. The Barn was just taking shape the first time we visited (it was still just a frame!) but Steve described it so well to us, that we knew we would love it as much as he already did! We committed to being married there the same day we visited the first time. We never once second guessed ourselves and I haven't had a single regret since! Steve was in constant contact with my husband and I as we planned, and he built. We watched The Barn take shape and loved it more and more each time we visited. We had so many questions for Steve, but also admitted that being young, and a first time bride and groom, that we might be missing questions for him. Steve was so caring and kind, and made us feel comfortable and confident in our planning. He shared with us all options that we had, regardless of the price or how it would benefit him- he went above and beyond for us. I would actually probably name Steve as an honorary wedding planner for us! I can't express enough gratitude towards him for guiding us through the planning journey! On our wedding day, Jennifer was around all morning helping us in any way that she could. The ceremony went so smoothly- as did the reception! Steve and Jennifer were so friendly towards guests and accommodating in any way that they could be. I felt like the night was so smooth and ran itself, although I have no doubt that it was because of their hard work behind the scenes. Steve and Jen are so thorough, no problems or even small bumps in the road (that all brides say to be prepared for) arose at all! By the end of the night Steve was chatting with my parents like he was an old friend of theirs! This venue will absolutely have you feeling at home and you will be 100% comfortable enjoying your night. As I reread my review I keep thinking, what else can I say that helps paint the picture of our perfect night being married at The Barn at Smugglers Notch? I can't. To start, the owners of this venue, Steve and Jennifer, are some of the kindest people I have ever met. Steve's communication and professionalism made this a very easy choice. He is very upfront, but also gentle in his approach. My partner and I were originally looking at venues elsewhere, when I stumbled upon The Barn at Smugglers Notch. Steve treated me as well as my entire family as if we were family of his. This eased the nerves of everyone. Weddings are emotional, as well as very sensitive, as many know. There is a level of vulnerability that precedes being involved in a wedding ceremony. Upon arrival of the ceremony, my mind was at ease. There was a much larger ceremony the day before ours, and I would never had known if no one told me. There was definitely a level of exclusiveness that came with using The Barn. I can tell that Steve truly cares for the people that have decided to use his property. The location is almost too beautiful to be real. The "barn" is tastefully constructed with an incredible back drop of Mount Mansfield (or Smugglers Notch). There is enough space for large events, but the venue is also accommodating for smaller weddings- such as ours. The recommended caters, Cast Iron Catering, were also a big plus in our experience. They provided a very fresh, custom menu. The food was absolutely delicious, and was also reasonably priced compared to normal market value of wedding catering. I would like to note that the staff at Cast Iron were very sharp and on top of taking care of my entire party. We had zero complaints or issues with any of the service we received. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone looking for a proper event venue. Specifically in my case, weddings. I cannot emphasize enough how kind and well-intentioned Steve Depalma is. In conclusion, if you are looking for a responsibly run, professional yet personable group to work with, I wouldn't look anywhere else but here. I'm a local bride that lives in Jeffersonville Vermont and we had a fabulous wedding at The Barn at Smugglers' Notch. We booked the date over a year in advance because I was one of three brides interested in the last two Saturdays of June. Construction wasn't even completed but we booked right away. It was an opportunity I didn't want to miss. Of course I was a little nervous but the backdrop of Mt. Mansfield is stunning and I knew the barn would breathtaking. The planning: Steve and I must have had over 50 emails back and forth because I had so many questions. Poor guy. But everytime he responded he was always glad to hear from me and very thorough in his responses. The day: It was a hot June day over 80F degrees outside. I was so happy the Barn has air conditioning. Some of the other local barns don't, and that would have been uncomfortable for my guests. From the start Jen was amazing. She catered to us most of the day while getting ready, making sure we had everything we needed. She was a perfectionist when it came to table placement and came up with better ideas than I had. She's great. We had about 150 seated spaciously and was able to keep the dance floor open. We did very lite decorations as the space was gorgeous by itself. This worked out in our favor because it was less to haul in and out. My family and guests still tell me what a fun time they had at the wedding. We got some great family candids. We loved it... sitting on the back patio and watching the sun set on Mt. Mansfield. The day was amazing and as I look back, I'm so glad I booked my wedding at The Barn at Smugglers' Notch. read more

My husband and I chose this venue before the construction was completely done on it. We could tell as soon as stepping foot into the venue how beautiful it was going to be. The view of Mt. Mansfield alone sells the place. We had the most perfect 75 degree, July day with not a cloud in the sky. My bridesmaids and I got ready in the bridal suit at the venue. The bridal suit feels like it's right out of a "fixer upper" episode with its shiplap walls and marble tiled bathroom with shower. The ceremony was outside the venue overlooking the mountain. Our guests were blown away with the views and loved what a "photo op" it made for them. Steve also has a field of wild flowers, which we took photos in, and they came out beautiful. The venue is light and bright and wide open. At night when the lights are dimmed, the uplighting on the walls helped set the mood for dancing. I was a little concerned with the dance floor being off to the side of the venue instead of in the center, but it actually worked out with everyone standing around the dance floor near the bar or on the dance floor dancing, opposed to people sitting at their tables watching the dancing from their seats. The whole day was amazing, and I couldn't have asked for a better location to get married at. Steve was wonderful to work with, and was extremely responsive to emails and phone calls. He unfortunately did not work my wedding, but everything still ran smoothly. read more

The Barn at Smugglers Notch is a Stunning event center. Nestled on a 200 acre farm in the valley below Smugglers Notch ski resort with 180 degree panoramic views of Mount Mansfield and Mount Madonna the setting is truly one of kind. The Enoteca Wine bar on site serves up several of their house label wines as well as local Vermont Beers and delicious tapas style food. Beyond several trips for tasting or a beer after a hike up at Mansfield or disc golf at smuggs, My wife and two friends went up for the ski bum prom last year which raises money for the Para ski program at Smugglers Notch and we had a blast! The food was awesome and the turn out was great as well, and an even better cause to support! Last week I ran into a friend who had been up there recently for a wedding and they loved it , and we are both going to be attending a wedding there next year as well, any excuse to get back it a good one. The Barn at Smugglers Notch has done great things for the local community up there by employing local craftsmen and women to build the venue, by bringing in business to the local town of Jeffersonville , and providing event space that the local community can be proud of and be served by. Both Steve and Jennifer (the owners) are incredibly hospitable, community oriented people. This review took me 6 months from our wedding day to write because I couldn't find the right words. Nothing seemed to express how magical our day truly was!! My husband and I were the third wedding to be held at the Barn. I have to say that it was a bit scary to sign a contract without more than just a foundation being built, but Steve happily met my parents on the grounds ((my husband and I live 7 hours away)) and showed them the construction drawings. He continued his follow up with me through the months and always sent updates on how the Barn was coming along to reassure our nerves. Then, the day of was nothing short of amazing. Steve and Jennifer were incredible hosts to not only us, but our guests too. Jennifer made all of us ladies feel at home and comfortable using the bridal suite to prepare. Then they both tended the bar during the reception and my guests had no idea they were the owners! All of my guests expressed how friendly and warm Steve and Jennifer were. And not to mention that this is the most gorgeous venue I have ever seen! On Saturday June 3rd, I married my best friend at The Barn. Everything at The Barn was better than I could have imagined! The caterer, Cast Iron Catering, provided a beautiful, delicious meal. The facility provided plenty of space and a large, lovely lawn with breathtaking mountain views. Steve, Jen, and their staff were more than accommodating, making it a priority that the day was everything that we had envisioned plus more! As for the bar, my husband and I opted for a cash bar; the drink service was super-efficient! Though it rained all day, the grounds were impeccable and accommodations were made to keep everyone dry. Steve and Jen even stepped in when my day-of coordinator/wedding planner turned out to be the worst decision I made in the planning process... a disaster. They made sure everything ran smoothly and my day was as stress-free as it could have been. My husband and I recently had our wedding at The Barn at Smugglers Notch and it was truly a dream come true. Once we visited The Barn, it was totally love at first sight. Of course the property is surrounded by the best natural beauty Vermont has to offer but the interior of The Barn at Smugglers Notch is truly breathtaking. The gorgeous interior space is big enough for large events but still can tastefully fit smaller wedding parties such as ours. The owner Steve is a very strange dude. Uncomfortable and unwelcoming vibes from the staff. At one point, I went out to my car to have a private conversation with my date-- Steve was creeping behind a car, trying to spy on us... He very unsuccessfully hid from our view. At this point, I tried to engage him in a conversation... Instead of replying, he hid for a bit, then crept closer towards us, hiding behind a car directly next to mine... I guess he didn't realize I could still see his hair at his new hiding spot... I asked again what he was doing... he walked away and ignored me... Weird. I followed him to the barn asking him what he was doing, he was unable to reply. The space is nice with excellent views, but they need to hire staff that can be friendly and not creepy. I heard stories afterwards of further creepiness, apparently I wasn't the only guest who noticed how odd he was acting. I chose to leave the reception several hours early. Overall, staff ruined an otherwise magical night. Don't book this place unless they can guarantee Steve won't be attending. read more

I can't say enough about the outstanding job Steve and Jen dePalma have done with their new venue, The Barn at Smugglers Notch. Having driven by the empty cornfield many times that the Barn now occupies I was worried about the construction and its impact on probably the finest view of Mt. Mansfield, VT. I couldn't be happier with the combination of a Monitor Barn and Sugar House creating a classic yet modern Vermont venue for any occasion while maintaining the pristine landscape. Steve's vision and hospitality are well worth just hanging out in the bar while enjoying a wonderful selection of wines or sitting out on the back porch and watching the sun set. The attention to detail throughout the barn gives it a very welcoming atmosphere. The real treat is if you are lucky enough to hang out with Steve and Jen and their incredible Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, they have done a wonderful job and made Jeffersonville, VT. a wonderful wedding destination. read more

I planned my sister and her now husband's recent wedding at the Barn at Smugglers Notch. The Barn is an absolutely beautiful venue with stunning views. The owners, Jen and Steve, put so much thought into every detail from the furniture and decor in the bridal suite to the landscaping to the light fixtures and more. Both were super helpful, responsive, and wonderful to work with throughout the entire planning process. Their catering company, Cast Iron Catering, was also a pleasure to work with - they put together an amazing menu, provided great service, and worked with the florist to make the most beautiful table settings. Our daughter's wedding was held at The Barn 8/5/17. From the moment we met Steve and Jennifer DePalma when we stopped in on a whim for a glass of wine last fall, (we were so impressed that we did a video chat with our daughter and fiance and booked the venue right then) to the day of the event we were treated with warmth, helpfulness, and a genuine desire to make the day perfect. We have been fortunate to attend a wedding here but have also been able to stop by for a glass of wine when weddings are not booked and the bar is open. You will find a hard time beating the view and the barn itself is immaculate. It is a stunning setting for a wedding no matter the time of year. The other part that truly makes the Barn at Smugglers Notch a special place are the owners. They have put a lot of time and energy into the smallest detail here and it shows. They are great people and we are lucky to have them in our community in northern Vermont. I recently got married at The Barn at Smuggs (8/19/17) & the barn at smuggs was a beautiful place to get married. The stars couldn't have aligned more for the day. Everything was perfect and it even exceeded my expectations. The forecast was in and out of sun and clouds, which made for perfect pictures & we even got a rainbow. The owner's wife was amazing & made sure everything ran smoothly and the owner Steve was so nice. He went out of his way to run my veil & headpiece down to the salon in town after I had left it at the barn on accident while setting up the day before. My husband and I got married and held our wedding reception at the Barn in May and we can't say enough good things about the space, service, and owners. The Barn is absolutely stunning, as are the beautiful views of the mountains. The views we had during our ceremony were jaw dropping and all our guests raved about the space.
