I don't like star rating systems; they don't allow you to accurately reflect anything. While Grace Christian Center deserves 5 stars for its welcoming atmosphere, programs, and the dedication and kindness of its staff and volunteers, it only deserves maybe 2 for its theology. Yes, Pastor Mark is a brilliant speaker, and I believe he truly cares about his congregation. True, he isn't afraid to "tell it like it is" in many things, such as homosexuality and abortion. The problem is that he, and the entire staff, are still afraid of one very important thing: THEY ARE AFRAID TO EXPOSE BAD DOCTRINE. If they are not, then they are blind to it, and that's worse. While Pastor Mark and the other pastors aren't afraid to actually use words like 'sin' and 'repentance' (unlike too many popular evangelicals today), and they seem closer to center theologically than obvious Prosperity Gospel preachers, there are still Joel Osteen and Robert Morris books in the bookstore. They still openly follow and widely teach material from known prosperity and Word of Faith heretics like Morris and Joyce Meyer. Morris, whom many of the pastors at Grace will say is one of their favorite teachers, may be more subtle than many, but make no mistake: he buys fully into the prosperity/Word of Faith false gospel. If he didn't, why would he have allowed Creflo Dollar to speak at his church and not rebuke him for his false doctrine? Pastor Mark has never rebuked any other teacher, either. He is not protecting his flock. He is not warning anyone against bad theology, as is his duty as a pastor. On the contrary, he is inviting it in. He willingly teaches dangerous, false "armour bearer" doctrine, following the "pastor's vision," and other Word of Faith staples, entry-level though his renditions may. He and the staff at Grace openly admire such preachers as Steven Furtick, T.D Jakes (a modalist), Mike Hayes, and the leaders of Hillsong--men who wouldn't know proper exegesis of a Biblical passage if it slapped them in the face. When asked why they keep problematic books in the store and don't "name names," Grace's staff say things like "We don't want to make people angry; there are a lot of people in our church who like those preachers." But THAT IS NOT A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE! WE ARE TO WARN OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS ABOUT FALSE AND OFF-CENTER TEACHING! (Eph 5:11, John 10: 11-13, Rom 16:17, 1 Cor 11:19) Don't just read these verses; read the context around them, their cross-references, the whole new testament...Paul names false teachers by name many times. We are called to love our brothers and sisters, not to be "nice." Isn't it more loving to rebuke false teachers, rather than let them continue on in error serious enough it may reveal they are not truly regenerated? Is it truly, Biblically loving to keep an entire congregation in the dark about false doctrine that could send them to hell, just to avoid upsetting a few of them? A pastor is called to be a shepherd, not to "grow" their church in numbers! And yet I heard SO much at Grace that centered far too much on numbers and "relevance." They all mean well, I think (and hope), but they are sadly misguided and living in an atmosphere that is becoming more dangerous by the moment. I enjoyed my time at Grace. I met people there who will be life-long friends. That's why it saddened me to realize I was being fed bad doctrine for the years I was there, that I wasn't properly prepared to discern it earlier, and that their doctrine damaged me (but not beyond anything God cannot heal!). I haven't taken my nose out of my Bible since, and it was beginning to do that in the first place that made it clear to me I couldn't stay. In the time since I've left I've had to un-learn much of what I learned there. It's been a process of theological rehab and psychological deprogramming. I'm concerned for everyone still there. Be like the Bereans. Take everything you hear, wherever you go, back to the scriptures. read more

Someone sent me a link to these reviews here and asked me what I thought about them. They told me that Mark Price is the senior pastor of this church. Mark Price ministered in worship and as a fellow pastor with me in Sherman, Texas, many years ago. I knew his family from his father pastoring the same church that I pastored. We merged our congregations and had several great years of ministry together. Several years ago, I received a request for a personal and professional referral regarding him from a church in Killeen. (I remember Killeen because my former pastor was from there.) As I recall, we sent emails back and forth several times as they asked me a plethora of questions. It's been several years and I don't remember the church's name or the person who contacted me. I (at that time) assumed it was ministerial staff or perhaps a pastor. My sentiment and memory of Mark was that he served very well in Sherman at New Life Church. I always felt Mark to be a high quality, gifted, talented and dedicated person and minister. I also felt that the ministry opportunities that he'd had up until that time were far below his capability. He brought many things to our church and church staff that were areas that we needed and appreciated. I'm a bit taken aback at someone sending me a link thinking that I'd find something that might not be so favorable regarding him. First, it isn't my style to look for anything other than what supports and promotes the Kingdom of God and ministers. Secondly, Mark was exemplar in his service to our church and the people of Sherman, Texas. Let there be no misunderstanding. I had a very good relationship with Mark Price. He did leave our church believing that God was calling him to other things. At that time, I supported him morally and financially in his future endeavors. I don't know if he's still at this particular church or where he is today. Nonetheless, I pray that he's being used in a personally fulfilling and powerful way in the Kingdom of God. I honestly don't know where to begin with this review! Pastors Patrick and Marlena Kiteley and their family are a God-send not just to Charis Church but to this region and beyond. Charis Church is a House of Worship where the Holy Spirit dwells. Just to be clear about what I mean by dwell: Charis Church is a place where the Holy Spirit abides, sits, inhabits, and remains. There is a spirit of integrity fashioned after God's own character in this house that remains consistent from Sunday to Sunday, month to month, event to event, and from sermon to sermon because where there is God, there is glory. Shekinah glory! Lastly and from my heart, Charis Church is the epitome of Kingdom Culture (Ephesians 4:11-12) a "...your Kingdom come, Your will be done; on Earth as it is in Heaven" (Matthew 6:10) type atmosphere where the Word of God is our constitution. Charis Church is a place where God is dwelling among his sons and daughters to mold and shape us so that we can go out, as lanterns and pitchers to shape others and share the Gospel of our Lord. Charis Church does not subscribe to compartmentalized Christianity. We learn to live in the epicenter of God's revealed power during our mid-week services, Sunday Services, small groups, spontaneous services (which are such a treat when they happen!), as we serve the community, during our healing services, prophetic conferences, worship nights, fellowship, etc. At Charis Church, not only will the bible be brought to life, but it will be brought into YOUR life...just grab it! I absolutely love this church! It's a Spirit-filled community that truly embodies the heart of God. The atmosphere is welcoming and vibrant, with a beautiful mix of multi-racial and multi-generational members coming together in unity. It's refreshing to be part of a church where everyone welcome, and you can see the love and support for one another in every interaction. I've been here a little over 5 months now, and having been embedded fairly deeply, and I've seen how authentic a group of people this actually is. For people who want to learn Scripture through sound teaching, for people who want to follow Jesus regardless of where they've come from, what they've done, their race, color, or background, this is truly a place of Grace. If you're someone who wants to change the Bible to suit what culture says, or someone who wants to find fault in others without looking in the mirror, maybe not so much. Everyone is genuinely welcomed as family, welcome to sit beside each other and pray for each other, serve each other. Where a lot of churches have chosen to be in an easier, kinder, gentler community with less problems, GCC has doubled down to be one of the pillars of the city of Killeen, helping, serving, and supporting the endless needs. If I want forgiveness and inclusion, this is the place. If I want to judge staff and other people, and expect to have a church entertain me as I believe I deserve, then I would give it one star. read more

The enemy came to steal, kill and destroy...But God....... The church is thriving under exceptional, well trained, spirit filled leadership. The church is growing weekly with overflow of baptisms, spiritual development, lifestyle changes with commitment to Christ. With various groups to meet individuals personal relationship needs for continued growth and development. If you want a deeper walk and relationship with the Lord this is the place. The current pastoral leadership has continued to build upon a solid 30 year foundation vision and expand beyond. You never know what to expect in this place because God is always moving we just move with him in anticipation. Charis Church of killeen is amazing. The Pastor Patrick and Pastor Marlena have done so much to involve the community. The Pastors messages have been on point! Definitely something we as a body of christ need to hear. I always leave feeling spiritually feed like a full course meal not a snack. Youth ministry have been amazing with my teen and i am looking forward to my young one to join next year. Childrens ministry has changed so much with exciting new curriculum with games for the kids and it helps keeps them engaged with what they are learning, not to mention the awesome toy store area they have for kids to shop in every Sunday when they earn bible bucks! The new pastors are a huge gift from God. Service is amazing, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Charis Church is my home away from home. I have been a member since October/November of last year and I'm grateful to have found this church. I decided to turn my life around and it's been nothing but love and support. The daycare facility and volunteers have been great with my son who is autistic. There are classes regularly, activities, and worship nights, retreats, and so many other ways you can get involved and stay involved in the church. It has been a blessing. Pastor Kitely and his family have been a blessing and I look forward to growing even more spiritually in my walk. I'm so encourage and how people come to church early because of the love felt and how the people linger after church is over. We becoming here since June 2023 our family here feels at home, the preaching is absolutely straight Bible, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, the worship is also Amazing, they know how to lead the praise and worship straight to God's throne of Grace! There are few churches where my family and I have felt at truly at home and Charis is one of them. The people are diverse friendly and down to earth.
