Minutes walk from Partick train station, BW Beauty is a great wee beauticians offering everything from waxing and massages, to manicures and full make up. As I'm away on holiday next week, I booked myself in for a mani-pedi, knowing that Becca would have her work cut out for her with my chewed up, uneven nails. After soaking, exfoliating, massaging and shaping (heaven!), Becca paints on your colour of choice and cures your shellac ensuring up to 3-weeks of chip free nails! I'm pretty new to shellac, so I found this unbelievable and akin to witchcraft, but Becca assures me everyone knows about it and I'm just behind the times. My pedicure took almost an hour as I enjoyed my poor wee feet getting pumiced, exfoliated and pampered, before having matching shellac nails applied. I am also in love with the barbie pink foot-grater that Becca uses, and now I can't stop stroking my baby soft heels... Although BW does an express manicure for if you're in a hurry (30mins approx), if you have the time i'd recommend the full works. Becca really does an amazing job of making the experience feel luxurious and personalised (and great artists can't be rushed!). Dow offers a wide range of massage types from thai aroma oil massage to traditional thai 'stretching' massage. She has loads of experience and trained at one of the top massage schools in Thailand. A visit to Dow is always a tonic. Not only does she totally chill me out she has also made a huge improvement in the back aches and tension that have plagued me for years. I cannot recommend her enough. At the new clinic Dow will have another Thai Massage therapist so if you fancy going for a massage with your partner or mates then she can book you in at the same time. Pricewise its good value at £40 for an hour massage and cheaper than other city massage outlets.

Granted, it's been a while since I've been able to get my usual done here. I used to go in for laser hair removal (too much info, I'm sorry) and I'm not going to lie - it's not a painless procedure. However, the staff at the time made me feel at home, playing out panpipe music in the background and talking in soothing voices - it makes the process a bit more bearable. And by no means is it a traumatising experience - it's manageable pain and over in microseconds. It was really effective when I was getting it done and I'd highly recommend it. Revival Retreat specialise in modern beauty technologies such as laser hair and scar removal, and brings Botox to the high street without an element of taboo. It's great that they reduce these stereotypically Hollywood endorsed beauty therapies to a level within your price range but it's still expensive. I would argue, however, that what with the staff and the great selection available to you that you are paying for fantastic quality of service. Even though i can barely afford an eyebrow wax these days and have to leave such matters in my own dangerous hands, waxings are all very affordable here and carried out in a very relaxing, hygienic and friendly environment. Moreover, the prices haven't been changed since the recession so kudo's to Revival Retreat for keeping their high class treatments at low prices.
