I think I've hired more professional photographers in the past 15 months than I have in my very…read morelong life. Ever since my daughter was born I'm all about the pics; she changes so much on a daily basis that I just want to document every second. I take tons of pictures with my not so fancy schmancy cannon camera, but it's hard to get a good pic of a toddler who is always on the move. And so I leave it to the professionals... I saw pics that Shannon had taken of my colleague's niece and nephew. I was in awe of her photography skillz and immediately bookmarked her blog so I'd remember to contact her for Baby R's next photo shoot. And I did just that for a few months later when Baby R was turning 15 months. Shannon informed me that she liked to take pictures in natural light. The Floridian in me was not going to take pictures outside in February so we decided to find another option with natural light: The Garfield Park Conservatory.* The Conservatory proved to be the perfect location for photos and Shannon turned out to be the perfect photographer. She had a great eye for what backgrounds would work in the conservatory, was fun to hang out with for an hour and was great with our little one. At one point she asked if she could take Baby R away from us for a few minutes so she could get a few good shots of her not hanging onto me (we have a bit of a separation anxiety problem). Baby R went with her without even a whimper. My husband turned to me after we gave our baby away and said "how well do you know this photographer?' I replied "not well, but she seems nice and hopefully won't steal our baby." She returned minutes later with our smiling baby...phew! I'm a bit impatient so it's difficult for me to wait a few weeks to see photos so I was psyched to get a sneak peak of our photo shoot just hours after we got home. The six sneak peak photos that Shannon posted on facebook were so incredible that I got at least 20 calls/emails from friends asking about this fabulous photographer. The rest of the 30+ edited images came two weeks later and they were just as incredible. Our session with Shannon cost $200, which included all the edited images. She put them all on shutterfly (makes for easy ordering for the grandparents) and is also sending me a CD in the mail.
