I would drive by Charles Pfeiffer and notice it, and to be honest, hope I would never have need of the products that they sold. Today I needed to get a medical safety device for my mom. I looked online but found so many things and I did not have a base knowledge of what would be best for my mom. So I went to Charles Pfeiffer on Jewett Ave. Am I glad that I did. The owners were very knowledgeable about their products. They asked me a few questions about my moms needs and came up with a few recommended products. After a quick review, I picked the one best suited for mom. The price was reasonable and the owners even gave me a discount coupon. They were very helpful and accommodating in the delivery and installation of my grandmother's stairlift. Any questions she had after the installation they had the answers and even stopped by her house to show her what to do in person if she didn't understand. Very professional and helpful. read more

I don't know who Charles Pfeiffer is or was but I'm sure he's ashamed by the lack of integrity and compassion that I was shown at his store yesterday. I live two blocks away from the store. I enjoy supporting my local businesses on Staten Island. I entered the store yesterday morning to buy a transport chair for my father who recently had a spine surgery and suffered a spine fracture and an infection due to the surgery. There was another customer in the store who was very sweet and very kind and gave me advice on what type of chair that I should buy. Notice I said another customer not an employee. Immediately upon her recommendation I said I will take the chair. No questions asked. I was told they're not coming in until tomorrow. I said I will take the floor model. At that point I was desperate I had to get my.father to the doctor in a couple of hours this would be my first time transporting him myself to Manhattan on a day that it was raining relentlessly. I explained my situation to the employee. The employee then approached a glass enclosure where a man was sitting and asked if I could purchase the floor model. The man in the glass enclosure responded no the chairs are coming in tomorrow. The very kind sweet customer and her husband then approached me. They advised me to go to another store in Staten Island. I could not believe that even after explaining my situation and knowing that the chairs were coming in tomorrow they could not make an exception. I'm a healthcare worker. I would never treat one of my patients the way Charles Pfeiffer treated me yesterday. I don't know if Charles Pfeiffer understands, even though they are retail store they are dealing with people who are patients and who have loved ones as patients. After all they do sell medical equipment and supplies. I left the store made a phone call to Ocean Breeze Pharmacy on Hylan Boulevard. They were more than happy to accommodate me and I was able to purchase a chair that was probably much better in quality and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. read more

POOR SERVCE!!!! As I walked into this establishment on my crutches. They had me hopping back and forth from the waiting area to the desk down the hall instead of coming to me the (injured person). Then since its the thanksgiving weekend they were unable to verify my eligibility . The woman "helping me" simply said since we can't verify your eligibility you'll have to wait until Monday to get the boot for my broken foot which I needed yesterday. I kindly took back my prescription and took it to a different surgical supplies store that understood that it was important for me to get my boot today instead of 3 days later. I went to this store to purchase a back brace for my husband after he hurt himself. The store owner was extremely pleasant and helpful (it's important to note minutes prior to this, he had hurt his had while using a drill - i think he later went to a hospital for stitches) and he was still so nice and cheery. He explained the different options to me and told me to just purchase both and I could bring back whichever brace fit better. Fortunately, that evening, after an emergency visit to the spine doctor, my husband was given the premium ($400+ brace). I was planning on stopping by the next day to return the braces i purchased from Charles Pfeiffer but of course, life happens and 2 weeks later, i was cleaning out my truck and realized i never returned the braces. I went back to the store thinking i would have a difficult time returning not just 1 brace but both braces and especially after 2 weeks;not the case at all. The owner is awesome and understood and took the braces and refunded my $ no questions asked. Great place and will definitely use them whenever needed! read more

Imagine a neighborhood store you have frequented, on occasion, for over 50 years. Now, imagine that you call them for a service call, requiring a tech. You are thrilled they will do the work for you, even though you will have to wait 3 days for the tech. The day comes, but the tech never does. You don't receive a phone call from either the store or the tech. The neighborhood store has left an elderly person, within walking distance from the store, in a lurch. Now other arrangements must be made. Shame on Charles Pfeiffer for treating an elderly neighbor so badly. Never again will we frequent this store. Customer oriented this store is not. read more
