Took a trip to the office in VA Beach! People are rude, they practically threw me out!

I have been a Charles Schwab client for over 30 years. Approximately six years ago I was enrolled in a Charles Schwab billing account as the amount in my accounts had surpassed $600,000.00. I recently had to end the financial agreement with the outside advisor. I did however want to remain as a client of Schwab. I went to the Charles Schwab office to find out when my money would be released. I was told the outside advisor had not done the paperwork and they could not talk to me. I contacted the outside advisor, and they told me they had done all their paperwork on their side and sent me an email confirming they had done the paperwork. Several days later I returned to the Virginia Beach office and asked to speak to an advisor. I was told they could not help me or talk to me. I showed them the email from the outside advisor stating that they had done all the paperwork. When I asked if they could tell me what had to be done, again, I was told they knew nothing and could not help me. I then asked who could I get assistance from. They told me yet again, they could not help me. I then went home and left several advisors emails asking if they could help me resolve this problem. I waited several days and received no response. I finally got on Google and called every number on Charles Schwab's Webb site. I received no response from Charles Schwab. I went back to Charles Schwab for the fourth time with my coffee and bagel. I told them I was retired and would wait all day until they could find someone to answer my question. After about an hour someone came out of their office and said call this number. When I called the number the Charles Schwab Advisor was in another state, They told me that Charles Schwab had not done their paperwork to end the outside relationship. She was more than willing to do it for me, she said it would take ten minutes. She did and explained that there was a sixty day hold so if there were outstanding actions they could be completed. I'm not a multi-millionaire like many other clients, but I do think I should be treated with respect not treated like a crazy elderly woman. read more

I was recently forced to switch to Charles Schwab when it merged with Ameritrade. Since the merger I have found that when I need to help from Charles Schwab.The most is when I am the least likely to be able to access their website or talk to their customer service. When you have your brokerage account your custodial for your kids and Your retirement accounts all-in-one location.You need to be able to talk to them twenty four hours a day , seven days a week. When I need them most.They are not available.I would recommend looking elsewhere to invest your money. read more

I have been a client for over a decade. I have watched a number of long time employees leave for a variety of reasons. The signs point to the fact that the manager or the company has changed. The most experienced person in the office has 4 years of experience. My consultant (David) refuses to come out of his office to even say "hello" to me when I come by the office. Once they convince you to sign up with one of their advised offerings.... they don't care anything about you. Other than to constantly ask me for referrals every chance he has. I will be transferring my accounts to another firm. read more
