Going to give it a four stars only because the water was not running over the falls and we have to go back to get the full experience.. The location was easy to find with my GPS on my phone, but without that I would have gotten lost big time. The park is nice and the trail is wide. Nice restrooms and lots of parking spaces. There was some people sit up near the trail entrance with pamphlets on their religion which I had to admit made me a little nervous. There wasn't an event scheduled so it felt a little imposing of sorts but I just walked through the grass around them. There are plenty of signs. We were able to walk out the trail with benches to the fall overlook but again it was dry. We went down the stairs to the lower overlook and then out the trail to the cave opening. Definitely going back after some rain. A little depressing without the water running but it was lovely and quiet, the quiet was very nice!!! read more

This is a great little place for a hike, walk or trail run. I would gauge this trail system as mostly easy (if you walk the upper rim and around through the meadow). Not quite moderate if choosing the stairs to the bottom of the falls and the full loop about 1.8 mile and around 135 feet of elevation change. Reasonable trail some rocky places and steps in others. Dog friendly, must be kept on a leash (duh). So if you are looking for a great waterfall plan your adventure around the weather, summer time you will find a beautiful frail and have a great walk / hike but see a small falls, although in the spring/fall this falls is quite active. It freezes over in the winter my favorite season to photograph it. read more

It is beautiful! We call it a "small Hocking Hills"! The waterfall was running the heaviest we have seen! It is a pretty secure walk, you never feel like you're going to fall off of an edge or really lose your footing. It has prairies, hills, waterfalls, creeks, and lots of flora, fauna, insects, and "critters"! read more

This is a great little park just off of 202 north of Huber Heights. It has wide, well maintained trails, a nice picnic area as well as the falls to look at and even a cave! If you look at the base of many of the larger trees you'll notice a scar that looks like an upside down V. These are burn scars and evidence of a forest fire years ago. It's a pleasant place to talk s home and enjoy the day! read more

What a nice little off the beaten path walking experience! I've been here many times but not for years! I came here with my son, who loves nature, and we had a good time. It's an easy and family friendly walk with lots of beautiful scenery. There are several nature trails around here and we've been to all of them. This one is the least labor intensive for people who want to get out but can't do too much. Highly recommend. read more

The lovely mrs was told by one of her coworkers that she and I should drive up and wander thru this park. Kudos to them for suggesting. It's a bit of a drive for us but the trail was quite enjoyable. The weather was perfect. We had talked about not seeing cicadas at our home and for Pete's sake, there were a ton of them out in force at this park. It's kind of creepy at times but they are a fascinating little creature. The 17yr underground hibernation fascinates me. And their bulging red eye balls. The trails are large and well marked, the waterfall are lovey and the cave was entertains as an adult after a good amount of rain. The trek was never difficult so a good trail to plan a couple hour hike and enjoy the great outdoors. It's a bit out in the middle of nowhere so it wasn't very crowded on the weekend day we went. The bathrooms were clean, the trails were well maintained and for the 1st time since I can remember I didn't have to pick up one water bottle, snack wrapping or trash of any kind and carry it to a trash can. I am sure that what attracts most people to this park are the waterfall. Not surprising because they are very beautiful but don't forget to go to the rest of the park. Nice wide trails make all areas of this park accessible. Clearly Miami County is proud of this property. Well maintained and gravel on almost all sections of the trails. Lots of birds around the pond, too. Check it out! read more

I'm so glad that hubby found this place and that we gave it a try! We enjoyed our hike so much that we went twice in one week. Although I will warn you, if you're coming just to see the waterfall, good luck. I guess it's there some parts of the year, but not all. What we saw was pretty dreary and pathetic. However, the trails alone are worth a visit. You make your hike over two miles. Or you can make it shorter - there are many options to explore! I was happy to see many other families both days we visited. These trails are so doable - whether you're carrying a baby on your back, in a stroller or have a kid who's not quite ready for a strenuous hike. read more

Went hiking here today with my husband. I loved everything about this place except one thing...the stone/gravel hiking path. It is uncomfortable on your feet and it's not natural. When I hike, I like for the trail to be as close to natural as possible...a dirt trail would be so much better though muddy at times. Kudos to this park for having the cleanest bathrooms I've seen at any park. read more

Pretty place, but crazy strict. I understand this, but enough with the rules being posted every ten feet. No climbing, no picking, leave by time posted, stay on trails, stay away from caves, blah blah okay we get it, do nothing but walk. The signs are excessive, but a beautiful place and a fun setting for catching Pokémon. Loved seeing the falls and there were comfy benches. read more

It was summertime. I was visiting my daughter, 2 grandchildren and son-in-law in Dayton for the weekend. They love to go hiking and had done so quite often in Vegas where I too went hiking with them during a week long visit. It was a Sunday morning. We drove here in the morning for a hike before it got to hot out. The parking was plentiful with the trails starting just a short distance from the clean modern bathroom facilities and the parking lot. At the entrance to the trails there is an informational display case. The trails themselves are often through tree covered areas with different paths marked by small but very visible signage. With benches, bridges and lookout stations along the way the trek is very enjoyable. The much anticipated water falls which isn't too far from the trail entrance area was a bust. It was so dried up that water only dripped down from the stream above. Even so with big rocks to sit on in a shady alcove it is a very enjoyable to stop here and have a snack! My first time here my 2 year old grandson was having a difficult time of it but by the second visit with an over the back carrier things went much smoother. This gave him an option of walking or being carried. It was on the follow up visit here that there were school buses of excited kids coming here to hike. They were collecting samples from the natural habitat as they walked the trails. Boots and gloves were set up for them upon arrival. None of the trails we walked on were too steep or rough with rocks and tree roots to be too challenging for older kids and adults. I would gladly return here in the future to enjoy a bit of nature, have a fun outdoor experience and to get some good exercise. This is a wonderful preserve. The parking lot is spacious and is next to well maintained bathrooms with running water and several picnic tables, plus it is in close to proximity to the trail head. I absolutely loved the creative area names as we checked out the map: Thorny Badlands, Golden Hexagon, Locust Grove, and Redbud Valley! We opted to head for the waterfall and cave, doing a nice mini loop that took us down near the falls and cave and up on the upper cave trail to a waterfall overlook and back to the parking area. Conveniently, there was a big storm the night before our visit, so the falls made an impressive showing! There's a nice information sign located at the overlook that gives some history and geological information about the falls and the cave. There were some staff out and about fixing up the boardwalk during our visit, and they were really nice and thanked us for visiting. Wonderful park! read more

This was the second of our "outdoors or bust/YAY for spring!!" hikes last weekend. Mr. M&P grew up literally just up the road from this hidden gem, and knows all the hidden nooks and crannies. The AMAZING falls are your payday, and you see them pretty soon upon entering the trail (obligatory stop to oooooooh/aaaaaaaaaaaah and take 1/2 a million pictures!!) but the trail itself is great, not too strenuous, not too easy, well-maintained and picture perfect!! It's been a long, cooooold winter, and it's time to GET OUT and enjoy local gems like this one, before it gets too HOT to trot!! (Did I just write that?!?) read more

This is easily the best maintained trail in the area. It could rain at 11 am and heavily and this would be dry by 5. A+ views, they've added a trail a few years back and look to be doing more. A+ and please keep it up read more

This is a beautiful hiking park. It has a 1.8 mile loop trail that is groomed. The most beautiful part of this is the falls. About half way through your hike a set of stairs takes you down to a rock formation that creates a several beautiful waterfalls, a definate photo op. If you need something to do on a lazy afternoon this is your place. I wouldn't suggest it for children under the age of two, but the trail is groomed so it would work very well for older children. Just a short trip outside of Dayton is this gem. The paths are well maintained and marked. There is also restroom facilities as well. It hadn't rained recently so the falls were more like a drip but it was still an enjoyable hike. read more

There's some odd reviews about this place (and too many critter pictures) on Yelp but really it's a great place. I'd suggest going there after a good rain so that the falls and creek are swollen, (the park is well-kept so you don't have to worry about really muddy or washed out paths). I'd also suggest going left of the fork to start your hike; this takes you the long away around the park to end at the waterfall.. It's an easy hike, anyone should be able to complete it. There's beautiful hills and fields, a pond that's nicer than you'd expect, the creek, an observation stand, windy paths through the trees, and a few waterfalls with a small cave. If facing the waterfall, the trail that goes up the ridge to the left could be dangerous if you're not careful. We had a great fall-color experience there and I hope to go back and see it covered in snow. Also, the bathrooms and general park area was kept very clean. read more
