As is to concur, a staff member brought the trailer pictured below to greet nearly fifty luxury motorhome brand rally attendees. Tensions escalated and a fistfight ensued, police were summoned. Two people, one the owner of the trailer in question, were taken into custody. Rest assured the majority of owners, and the Board of Directors itself, are dedicated to making Hearthside Grove a welcoming destination where ALL Class A motorhome enthusiasts will feel welcome and unmenaced. It is a work in progress, and we're doing everything we can do, as a community, no thanks to the political activists that marred our 2024 season. Stay tuned as 2025 comes and goes: in the coming years, we all hope Hearthside Grove will regain its stature as a destination for all.

It started with a visit to their lovely store in Petoskey, which has a huge selection of tile, granite and marble to choose from, along with well-informed staff who take their time to answer all your questions. Bill and Randy are the co-owners, and are always accessible and easy to talk to. The whole experience has been great, from my multiple visits to the warehouse, (which is like a candy store for kitchen remodelers) to the on the job work of their expert template cutter, and installation. My home is a full log lake house, and each counter had to be custom scribed to the uneven logs in the kitchen and bathrooms. Capital Granite took their time, and made sure that everything was perfect. Understand that my home renovations were interrupted by Covid-19, as were most of the businesses in Michigan. They built the cabin in the early 1960's and mom and dad handed it down when they passed away several years ago. The cabin was our extended family's heart and soul growing up. Our grandparents raised their families there from the early 1900's and before. I grew up picking cherries for school clothes money as did all our cousins, spending summers swimming in the lake to get rinse off the cherry juice, getting to Charlevoix for Venetian Night, fudge, sweatshirts, Ironton Ferry, the Sportsman's park, swans, deer, and on and on. The decision to sell the cabin was a difficult and painful one for myself and my siblings but it was time to pass it on. We chose Pat O'Brien to list the property and we are so fortunate that we did. Pat handled the delicate situation with great sensitivity, never pressuring and supporting us in the process and tolerating our occasional ambivalence. At times it was a complicated sale given there were easement issues, a dip in the economy shortly after the listing. Pat has a "easy going" personality at the same time determined, knowledgable, experienced, connected and skillfull. Pat answers the phone promptly when you call. He has excellent support staff ie. Mallory who stood in for him on the few times he was unavailable. We closed the sale in recent weeks and looking back we are all so appreciative of all his hard work.
