Today, I was about 10 minutes late for my appointment to get my son's hair cut. When I arrived, I was told the barber wouldn't cut my son's hair because they already had someone else coming in -- even though that person hadn't even arrived yet. I completely understand if being late means an appointment needs to be rescheduled, but the way this was handled felt rude and unprofessional, especially after being a regular customer for over six months. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression, and I won't be returning.

I don't have to overthink anything--if I want something different, I can say it, but most of the time I just trust Orlando and let him do his thing because he's consistently on point. Frank, the owner, is always cutting nearby, and I enjoy the conversations whenever we cross paths. All the barbers here do great work, but I personally lean toward my guy Orlando. I'm in weekly now, and it's become part of my routine because I know I'm walking out looking sharp every time.

The back of my head was bumpy and irritated, my back hurt from having to recline due to chair not lowering, no lineup, no razor clean up, long hair hair on top. After all that she had tried charging $30. It makes no sense to charge the same rate the other barbers at the shop with experience are charging with little experience and a bad job. Will not be returning, its very disrespectful to book an appointment, set time aside for the day and the barber not show up 2x in a row. And its very unprofessional to leave the shop in incapable hands. Was kind enough to pay $20 even though I ended up going elsewhere for a haircut the following day.

Preface: I worked in the city of Bell for about three years and went to various barbershops during that time. Tried Chavalos, Filthy Cuts, and other hole in wall joints BUT I always go back Charlie's Chop Shop even though I don't work in the area anymore. Cost and Quality: Regular haircuts are $15. Appointments $20. Most places in the area are in the same price range ($10 to $15). Little higher than most but I think it's a fair price considering the quality. I usually get low fades and tapers and I'm never disappointed. Cuts are always clean and on point. Some of the barbers even use straight razors and do amazing work and they still only charge $15. Time and waiting: If you plan on doing a walk-in, expect to wait. The shop usually has a lot of clients and they take their time cutting hair but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've gone to places where I'm in and out in 20 minutes with a cheap cut. At Charlie's, I've waited from 30 minutes to an hour for a seat before and my cuts are about 30-50 minutes. Personally, I don't mind waiting but if it's an issue for you, make an appointment. It is $5 more and you don't have to deal with the wait. I'll end it with this. Charlie's Chop Shop does amazing work and the barbers are always cool and down to earth people. If you want a "decent" haircut, you have tons of options BUT if you want a great haircut, then Charlie's Chop Shop is the place to go. read more

I went there today and had the best experience ever. I got my haircut by a guy who referred to himself as TeddyBoy Greg Edwardian Barber. Well let me tell you TeddyBoy Greg Edwardian Barber is a character, he can be easily spotted when you walk into the shop. Just look for the guy with the cyclone popsicle tattooed on his nose, asking you about 15 times if you like his tattoos. (He does have a very nice portrait of Patrick Swayze tattooed on his neck) While getting my fade done, TeddyBoy Greg Edwardian Barber kept me entertained with his silly stories from his love of sucking on toes, to being a Ted. (To be honest I thought his name was Ted) apparently its some sort of lifestyle in which you dress up like colonel sanders and listen to rock n roll, to fucking TheB9? (I think its some sort of female rapper) About 15 minutes into my haircut the talk got serious, turns out TeddyBoy Greg Edwardian Barber had some personal demons a nasty crack and herione addiction. He then proceeded to ask if I knew a spot where he could score some. Luckily I knew a guy down by the LA Mission in which I traded one rock for this hair cut! I've known of this barber shop for years ..back in the day when I used to get faded up two times a week by this tatted up buff guy char... since then alot has changed I now rock the dreads and wont let a pair of scissors near my dome ,how ever the next generation (my son) is at that age where looks and style are as important as a stable good place of employment is for us adults and I gotta say from San bernardino to Bell Charlie and co. at charlies chop shop are definitely at the the top of full service barber shops ...My son is very picky about his hair almost too picky but one thing is for sure he would rather wait for the weekend when he comes and stays with me to get his hair done up ... with barber shops in every shopping center in san berdoo where he lives he says that charlies chop shop stands alone as the best in all area's of criteria, best bald taper to best fohawk and everything else in between.. the atmosphere is always kept clean with positive vibes and no drama as the norm... read more

Charlie's Chop Shop currently has the most professional crew that I have seen in recent years. From what I've seen, everyone is always welcomed and they really take the time to make sure you leave with what you want. If you're looking for a place that is urban and knows the latest trends yet is still affordable, I would recommend checking it out. You can trust that their going to use the best products and know how to do the latest styles. My boyfriend has been going there for some time now and is a loyal customer after having his hair cut by the owner. What I like is that this barber shop does a lot within the community and continues to improve its customer service and innovate with their equipment and brands used. Overall, a thumbs up! read more

For one I'm a very picky person for everything and believe me my hair is one of the top 5. Looked around for a while till I finally went to Charlie's chopshop. At first was effy about it and wasn't sure if they would do a good job. Asked who was good and everyone had their personal favorite barber. I decided to choose the scary buff bald guy haha and ended up being the owner of the shop. Told him how I wanted my hair and BOOM! I left one happy mother fucker lol since then I've been going to Charlie's for about 2 years and a half. Even the days I go and Charlie isn't there I just come back another day. This is the spot. If you are looking for a taper or a good fade. Say no more! Charlie a.k.a. the big boss has been holding it down for over 26 years if that doesn't mean anything then I don't know what to say. Gina aka the boss lady is no joke. She goes toe to toe with any male barber around the area without a question. And victor aka the quite one is no sleeper at all. He be knocking out fades after fades without Lowering his standards so just lay back and enjoy your haircut. Recommended for the family type individual. Music choice upon request- overall cool music playing. Weed smoking free environment. No need to worry about your kids smelling that sticky icky. Plenty of free parking in the back. read more

I started Getting my cuts at Charlie's around 2012 Atleast once a week for a couple years up until I moved away, Now that I moved back to the area I decided to check them out again after years of jumping around from barber shop to barber shop with no luck, until I stepped back into Charlie's chop shop, immediately felt comfortable thanks to the good vibes in the shop, Met his wife gina, who's mainly been cutting my hair since started coming back. I got no issue trusting who ever is available is available out of the 4 barbers to cut me up because of how much faith I have in this place. This place is down. They are very friendly and professional. Been here twice. First time I was very satisfied with the results the home boy Charlie knows his craft. My second visit was even more memorable. I was not a loyal customer and sought out an other shop cause of the time and I found one close by. Went there and was left feeling uneasy. They didn't fade my hair right so I chopped it off. Long story short went back to Charlie's and one of the other barbers hooked it up big time. They saved me from embarrassment. I went there two days ago at 2PM. Worst experience ever. I asked for low and dark, fade in the back, taper the sides. Thin sideburns.This goofnugget with a bouffant and crayon drawings on his face proceeded to cut my hair without a gurad in an attempt to look cool.Unfortunately, he cut it so unevenly that to even it out, he had to shave my hair uniformly down to near baldness. Worse, the whole while, he talked (thus competing with the rap music blasting through the speakers) about his clothes, his tattoos, and his women. I went in sometime last week and got my haircut by a man calling himself "Teddy Boy", he had a number of odd tattoos. While cutting my hair, he pulls out his phone and starts filming the process (I didn't agree to this) He starts claiming that he's the best barbering man in the whole of California, I ask him to stop with the filming and he says that I've got to stop "Harrington" and to drink all of his cumm. Charlie's Chop Shop is as good as it gets. All of the barbers at the shop are very precise when cutting customers' hair. The barbers are very friendly, and the atmosphere is always filled with humor brought on by customer/barber interaction. My barber Charlie has been cutting my hair every Saturday for about a year, and I have yet to disappointed with my haircuts. The shop also seems to be very well kept up. Cable TV, sports/clothing magazines, and music are all generously provided for the customers of the shop. This is a great barbershop. 5-star rating and nothing lower. read more

I been going to the Chop Shop for almost 3yrs now and Rocky has always cut my hair. He does a great fade and a clean shave. The atmosphere is great, Charlie and Ray and hilarious. I am never disappointed when I visit my boy Joe. Hands down the best cuts around. Joe is a professional and not like these so called barbers. He actually knows how to use scissors. at first im not the kind of person that likes to walk into a barber full of people, but the ambient in this place is so friendly. The owner at first looks like one of those guys who you just dont want any problems with, let alone speak to him, but he is one hell of a man! he isnt like many barbershops out there, he actually cares about his customers. I was just visiting another establishment in the plaza and parked my car next to his shiney new ride. Later, as my girlfriend and I were returning back to our car to leave, he came out of the barbershop and greeted me so warmly as bro, but as he got closer, I could see anger in his eyes as he proceeds to accuse me of scratching his car. "Bro, look, there's the scratch." (He points to a barely-there scratch, across from my rear door, no where near where I was getting in or out.) "I just bought this car yesterday, you parked too close, and scratched it." I try explain it's not physically possible since I had no rear passengers, and had nothing in the rear seat to have any reason to open my rear door. He keeps reminding me that he "just bought the car yesterday" so I am the only possible culprit for the scratch. At this point, there's no point in arguing, and I just get back into my car and watch him walk back into Rise N Grind. I assumed he was waiting to get his hair cut, but to my surprise, he starts to cut a client's hair! He had stopped working on a client mid-cut to run out and accuse me of scratching his car lol He didn't introduce himself, but from what I've gathered from social media, he looks to be the barber that goes by Chino. I'm sure the owner will correct me if I'm wrong, because whoever this person is, I'm confident he's told all his co-workers multiple times about how he "just bought this car yesterday." I hope he doesn't honestly believe I scratched his car, because that is just delusional. I just have some final words of advice for anyone choosing Chino as your barber, don't park too close to his dark grey Honda Civic, otherwise, he'll have one eye on his car, and only one eye on his clippers!
