Updated after 5 years of playing in the kickball and dodgeball leagues. Overall, Clubwaka in Abq is…read morepretty clutch. I don't feel there is enough variety of activities for the young professionals in Albuquerque. That said, if you want to get away from the gym, work, life stress, and spend time making friends in a boozy fraternity like atmosphere then this is the right scene for you. It's a great forum for meeting lots of people (if in kickball, it's mostly for drinking and less athletic, with dodgeball it's inverse to that), with a range of interests including drinking, hooking up, and being somewhat athletic (aka glory days). Kickball is great for fun times and making you curse more in a game than you have in a year when your 'fun' team gets crushed by the competitive teams. Dodgeball is crazy competitive and exhilarating in its own way...but the drinks don't flow as much, at least til after the games. Both these leagues, plus the others, reward membership with a T-shirt and 2 open bars (mid and end season parties). Overall for $70 it's a great way to get away to college life again, just be sure to keep your day to day on the DL. No ones got time for your adulting.

Playing ball in this league definitely had its fun moments. However, the peer-based reffing system…read morelends itself to a pretty obvious bias toward inner-circle kickballers who have been around the league a while. If you're part of the "in crowd" calls get made in your favor, and if you're a newbie team or a less than "elite" team, there's really nothing you can do about it. It's also pretty obvious that the league's leadership wants to be well liked by the cool kids because they simply pretend like none of this is going on and any feedback or constructive criticism of the structure falls on deaf ears. Kickball is fun, don't get me wrong, but way too many people in this league think it's all there is to life. You'll find out quickly enough just how awesome their mad kickball skills are because they will let you know constantly...even in the rec/beginner league. If you're looking for a fun, relaxed way to play with people who like kickball, but have a life outside of it...I'd look elsewhere. After more than 5 seasons, I'll be looking for a new league to play in and so will my team. :)

I love this gym. Of all the Defined locations, this one is my favorite. It's not excessively large-…read moreand there seem to be fewer meat heads. The employees at this Defined are a little intimidating at first- but some of the funniest most genuine people once that ice has been broken. This gym seems to be most popular with people just before they head to work, or when they get off. I will admit to coming straight from work and working off the day. All the trainers are more than willing to give you pointers on how to do something properly- but they too are human, and some are more shy than others. They also offer a free "jump start" where you meet with the head trainer and figure out what you want out of your gym experience and how they can help you reach your goals! If you need a gym, they do good here, at a reasonable price. The yoga, spin, pump, combat les mills class are part of your membership as is the pool, sauna and steam room. Unfortunately, even though they address it in their sign up and rules- there will always be those people that bathe in their perfume or cologne prior to hitting the floor and the rest of us suffer. I find it less of an issue at this location though due to the high number of professionals that use the gym- not just gym rats. Oh yeah! And for those of you with Kids- no excuse not to get in to the gym! They have child care also built into your membership.

I've been coming to this gym for 2 decades. It's a joke and has fallen into despair. Don't go here…read moreif this is the location you plan to frequent. Currently, the sauna, steam room and hot tub are all down. Hot tub has been out for over a year. Steam room was down for a year or more. Was fixed, and worked for a whole month, which it never appeared to be cleaned during.....before going down yet again. Sauna has been down a month as well and seems like theres no end in sight on a repair.... You ask about it and they say weve ordered parts....they must mine raw materials and hand make all parts because they are slower than dial up internet. Managmenet could care less and it truly shows. This location is TRASH!. Only added amenity they offer is a pool,, and even it is not in good shape. When it breaks its down for months as well. It Currently works, but wouldn't hold my breath it lasts. If you only need weights there's gyms in the area with newer and better equipment for 60% less cost. Highly recomened going elsewhere.

Still one of the best gyms in Albuquerque…read more I've had my issues here, can't lie. But I keep coming back because it is a great spot. And if you like pushing yourself to the max, you can kill a whole day here. They say time flies when you're having fun, and my only ultimate wish is if this were open longer. Come give it a try. Everyone at this gym is cognizant of their responsibility to take care of the equipment you use, and to be respectful to your fellow patrons. Anyway. Come give it a try. Been coming for 3 years and have yet to be sorry I have.

Because of this concerted effort to hide the truth a PowerPoint closed caption video has been created transcribing the audio of the conversation with the security director. There may be two sides to any story implying deceit, embellishment, dishonesty, and aggrandizement by one or both sides. However, the recorded audio of the conversation can only present the conversation as it happened. The audio close caption power point is available on YouTube: URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upQiSAcn3IM or search in youtube for "Threat of Physical Gun Violence at JCC of Albuquerque" As a member of JCC, I participated almost solely in lifting weights and the use of the men's locker room. My experiences in those areas have been excellent: the weightlifting equipment is maintained to a high level, and the locker room, shower, and steam room are always very clean. The staff in the weightlifting area have been very helpful, especially, Chris who has given me great advice on how to exercise properly. But it is totally unacceptable for any member, employee and especially a security director to threaten with a badge and gun. See slide 22. It is totally unacceptable for the security director not to contact the offending party when that activity can result in injury and even death. It is totally unacceptable to revoke a membership because that member has reported offending, dangerous, and abnormal behavior. This offending dangerous behavior has been reported for over 40 days to JCC and has been known by employees and members for much longer than 40 days. There is no excuse for not contacting the known offending party. There is no excuse for not posting parking signs, "Consider Others Park Between The Lines, Violators Will Be Towed". The cost of 3 signs is less than $150. JCC has signs implying secure your belongings in the parking lot. Why do they have these signs and not similar parking signs? To say that I refused to leave JCC is deceitful, not supported by the video. To imply that I am upset at no longer being a JCC membership is highly misleading and defamatory. The last statement made to the Security Director is "If you want to revoke my membership, do it. See slide 23. To imply that I am the problem is an opinion. View and listen to the audio video of the conversation make your own determination.

****UPDATE: Michelle T's review bothered me so bad because it's so untrue that I looked into it…read more Turns out she WAS asked to leave, but not for the reason she stated. She was irritated that ARVC was still allowing one of their coaches to coach WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT. So yes, SHE was refunded and asked to leave and rightfully so. Take your bias somewhere else. I hope you don't behave at Warrior this way, they are a good club and deserve better from their parents AS DOES ARVC..***** My daughter has been with ARVC for three sessions now. She has progressed from the lowest level academy team with zero experience her first year, to mid-high level academy team her second year, and thanks to the AMAZING coaching she received from Coach Ju and her team last session, she just earned a spot on 14u Regional 1. I strongly disagree with one of the other comments that it's all about money. Our experience with coaching her first year was not great however, the rest of the staff was AMAZING and took my feedback well. The coaches were reorganized, with the less experienced coaches being paired with the most experienced for mentoring, and the least experienced kiddos getting more experienced coaches. The second session was FANTASTIC. The lowest level academy team last session was 10 times better than the prior session and it was due to coaching. They also have a great team in place to assist you in different fundraising opportunities to help pay for volleyball expenses so I absolutely disagree wholeheartedly that this club is only about the money. Anyone who says their kid is just a number and the coaches and staff don't care probably didn't address their concerns with the staff and if they did, maybe they were disrespectful in doing so. I've personally seen Senobia and Barb deal with INCREDIBLY difficult parents and their composure is irreproachable. This club is a family and I am so thankful my daughter was chosen to continue with ARVC at a travel team level so we didn't have to try out for another club. My daughter CONSTANTLY has a volleyball in her hands and is ALWAYS practicing, so whether or not your child progresses is also dependent on how serious THEY are about it and how much effort and extra time outside of ARVC THEY dedicate to the sport. And oh by the way, 98 girls tried out for four travel teams; only 40-44 girls made a team. If they REALLY wanted to take advantage of kids and parents with volleyball hopes and dreams, they would add more National and Regional teams and take your $2500 even if your athlete wasn't travel team material just to make you feel better. Also, NO ONE is "cut" from the academy. Period. You can leave and ask for a refund and they are very accommodating at prorating a refund even though they don't have to be. This group of professionals is outstanding. I know this is a little long, but I feel very strongly about the people at this club and am being a little defensive about the slanderous comment.

CrossFit is all about community and the community here is absolutely incredible…read more I dropped in to 9am on a Monday. My Lyft driver dropped me off at the front entrance. The entrance is towards the back of the building and I was a little confused but then saw people walking that direction, so it all made sense. I was greeted right away by members. First up were heavy back squats and I was immediately approached by a member asking if I wanted to share a rack with her. That made me feel so at ease since there aren't a lot of racks. She was so friendly! The coaching was on point and the energy levels were high. When I was walking out, I had two different members ask me if I needed a ride anywhere. How awesome is that?! Anyway, this place has a super friendly vibe and an amazing community. I'm so happy to have dropped in here and will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.
