After we said we were still able to do it online, the girl working the counter snapped at us and said "well you can't do it in person," so we left. We have been coming to Elite for about a year and a half now. First and most important in my opinion is the cleanliness of the gym and all the equipment. They really take care of things and it always looks bright and new. The equipment is top of the line. And there are plenty of free weights for everyone, no "lunk alarm" here! The employees are always friendly and helpful if needed. They have childcare which is something we must have or I wouldn't be able to work out. My kids love the care workers, and play room. On the weekend they can join a workout class with other kids their age and they love that as well. They have seperate mens/women's locker rooms with a shower if that is something you need. They also offer many work out classes throughout the day in addition to all the awesome weightlifting equipment. At the end of your workout, on occasion, you can grab a fresh piece of fruit. They are an amazing gym, and we are so happy to have found them. The people that go are friendly and I never feel out of place or unwelcomed. And it never feels so busy that you're constantly waiting for the equipment. Will snap pics next time I am there, but go check it out for yourself! read more

I have been emailing Elite since February to cancel one of my memberships on my family account and they have just ignored me. At I went in to the gym and they said they only can cancel memberships via email. Then finally they responded about 2 or 3 weeks ago for proof of the communications I sent so I sent them all of them. Now the are ignoring me again. In the communication in April I asked for all of my memberships to be canceled if this is how they are going to do business. The reason I am giving a one star is that I just got charged again for the memberships I canceled in February. Don't trust this company they won't stop charging you if you want to cancel. read more

Been going here for a couple years now. Was an amazing gym. KEY word WAS. Ever since the old owner left it's gone down the shit hole as far as management. They had classes to attend that were included with your membership out of the blue it's changes now you have to pay? It almost seems they are trying to scrape money where ever they can. On a positive note all the personal trainers are very professional and very knowledgeable. Not to mention they have 3 of the top trainers voted best in the city. They are always willing to help you no matter if your a client or not. The actual work out experience now I really don't enjoy being stared down from the gentlemen wearing full on winter attire in the middle of summer. And there should be no reason for someone to dictate on whom you work out with. It's obvious this gym is going down hill...My advice don't waste your money here. read more

Just finished my first tour and workout of this gym and it is top notch! The staff that I met today were extremely professional and welcoming. As I toured the facility it was very evident that cleanliness and maintenance were of the highest priority. This extended from the gym area to the locker rooms and restrooms. The workout are.is very well spaced allowing for comfortable workouts even during the highest traffic hours. Whatever your workout consists of, they have the equipment to take.it to another level. The gym includes a daycare for patrons to bring their children to and enjoy while they workout. It took only one workout for me to identify this as my primary workout location for the foreseeable future. If you have a chance drop by and validate what I just experienced. read more

Best gym in Rio Rancho or the city for that matter. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my membership for personal reasons because I felt extremely uncomfortable after being addressed about an erroneous complaint from another patron. I probably won't get a refund on the unused portion of my 13 month membership of $536.13 or training package which I paid $836 for. I didn't spend $1,400 to do what I was accused of. I will say that the trainers are top notch and the amount of equipment is unreal. I have never seen a gym with so much wonderful and state of the art equipment. Plus the management plays hard rock over the music system which I loved! I learned so much from Coach Clarissa. I will take the knowledge I learned from her to the next gym. read more

Called to get information about personal training. Told the lady that answered the phone I was interested in 2-3 times per week and she gave me package information then told me she would have someone call me back "in a few days." I was a bit frustrated because I was hoping to start sooner rather than later but assumed it was customary. Well it's been a few weeks and I haven't heard from anyone. I love this gym. The staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The prices are reasonable and when I go I never have to wait for a machine. I also love that the equipment is new, I have found multiple pieces of equipment here that aren't at other gyms. Lastly, I love that there is a 24/7 option for members. This option allows you TRUE 24/7 access to the gym, not just on certain days like other gyms around town. It's worth checking out! read more

Don't go to this gym unless you want to spend all night getting badgered to join. My friend told me he could get me in with a one-time visitor's pass so I could check it out. It took about two minutes to log that in, and I got a ten minute tour of the place, which was cool. Then I was treated to a solid hour of sales pitch and pressure tactics to join by the manager on duty. I specifically told him I WILL NOT make a decision to join today. I didn't have my wallet, wasn't sure about the finances and just wanted to work out with my friend. He kept whining and pushing and guilting and badgering, long after I had lost all interest in working out at all. Worst experience I ever had at a gym. It was like going to a car dealership. When I finally stood up and just started walking away, he relented and made me promise to come in the next day so I could sign the paperwork (yeah right). By the time I finally got rid of this guy so I could work out, I had been in the gym for 90+ minutes and my friend had already finished and gone home. Waste of a night. DON'T GO HERE. read more

This is another one of my favorite gyms! I mostly like to come here if I'm doing legs because it's always pretty empty, never too packed which is nice! They are also 24-hours which is awesome!!! The only flaw with this gym is there is no sauna which usually determines my choice in training at Defined. But overall this gym is great & they have a great staff. I am with a wellness program that pays for my gym membership. I decided to switch gyms because my good friend goes to elite and was always saying good things. I have had the worst experience and only been there for less then a month. When I went to sign up the front desk person did not show me around tell me anything about the packages or what is included in mine they asked for a card to be put on file for just in case I let someone In after hours? Then about 2wks later my card got charged and now no one is taking responsibility for it or refunding it left hand doesn't know what the right is doing never seen such an unorganized business. I recently moved here from San Diego and had been working out at a 24 hour Supersport and when I arrived here I began looking for a good long term gym. I started out with some temporary gyms testing the water. Then happened across elite physique here on yelp while searching for gyms near my home. I work alot so I emailed Steve one of the owners for some basic info, which he gave. He also recommended I come by and check it out so I did then I left, not being pressured to sign up. I came back 2 hours later and got a membership. The gym is great, plenty of equipment and the sport specific facility in the back seems pretty sweet although I haven't used it yet. Super clean facility, most of the staff is pretty friendly. There is just an awesome energy there. The only downside to the place is that by me writing this review it will probably become more crowded due it being the only decent priced quality gym in the area. So do me a favor and go in the afternoon. Go by check it out, the gym speaks for itself. read more

After 5 years as a member it is with much disappointment that I terminate my membership. I was told I would be charged $15 a month for 24 hour access card for Prime Members & Silver Sneakers Members. I am a Silver Sneakers member & I do not use the 24 hour access. I use it 3 times a week before 4 pm. I was very disappointed how the manager handle this the situation;/ He was unprofessional & confrontational & aggressive & took my access card away. I was not treated kindly nor like a valued member. Being part of any gym it is important to feel valued & apart of a family. Now I have to ring door bell to be let in which usually takes 3-4 rings before someone lets me in.....I feel discriminated against as a Senior member. A friend has the Prime Membership did not have his membership increased? Also I have left a messages at the gym & also via email for owners to call me to discuss this & it has been over a week & I have not been contacted. I am very surprised & disappointed with how this has been handled & the lack of concern from the owners as I have always thought very highly of them both. However, if this is how they choose to handle their business it is best I find a place where I am treated kind & valued. read more

The gym itself is great. I'd say 4 stars maybe even 5. My issue is with the staff and ownership. I signed up in early/mid 2015 to join this gym. My priority was using the free weights and normal gym equipment. I have no complaints about this other than when the gym popularity grew, it became busier and I usually had to wait for the one (1) bench press or one (1) squat rack or one (1) of just about anything free weights. Not too big of a deal though. The next thing that attracted me was the "soon" to be installed golf and baseball areas. They first were scheduled for summer 2015, then fall. They never came. Instead, a Rogue fitness HIIT/Crossfit area was installed. Prior to the installation, however, the area was used for various things related to cardio, HIIT, and crossfit. My "Premier" membership (very reasonably priced) included access to this back room area. This access was soon restricted as some jerks decided to vandalize the room. It was locked down for a while, then the new equipment was brought in and a fingerprint scanner was installed to allow/log access. Soon after the fingerprint scanner was installed, me and friend decided to use the room and new equipment as a change in our routine. We entered the room at 7:30 PM and by 7:50 PM we were being asked to leave the room as it was going to be closed. Mind you the room was re-opened with the understanding that it was 24/7 access. I contacted the managers and this was quickly resolved. A few weeks later, my friend and I decided we would again change up our routine, but our fingerprints did not work on the room like they had previously. This is where the lower rating comes into play. I work graveyard and usually arrive at the gym at about 7 PM when the main managers are gone and I rarely have time in the day to go visit during business hours. I spoke to a worker about my denied access and I was told access to the room is only allowed to those paying for the higher level membership. Remember, when I signed up, this was all inclusive (or so I was told). I was upset by the lack of communication about the raise in rates or change in access and went to Elite's Facebook page. There I found a rating/review area where I gave a fair 3 star rating. I voiced my concerns and soon I received a response. The response was that they had a 99.9% approval rating and that the gym must not be for everyone. I understand that comment to mean, maybe I don't belong there. Soon after I was invited to speak to a manager to set up a meeting in person with the manager and owners. Before I could set up the meeting, both owners (Anita and Steven) responded asking me to contact them. Again due to a strange and hectic work schedule, I finally called Steven and left a voicemail for him to call me back and set up a meeting. NO RESPONSE. I went back to the Facebook review to look over the comments to see if I missed something and saw that the first response (rude response) had been deleted by Elite. I posted a question as to why it had been deleted, but this time no response. I then posted a screen shot of the original response and still no one wanted to respond to why it was deleted. I also reminded them that I had called to set up a meeting. Still no response. Earlier this evening, my friend and I walked into the gym to request a cancellation of our membership and were denied. We were told we'd have to email the manager and that we would still have to pay for the month of March. We're in February!! Why would I have to pay for March? Anyhow, the gym itself and the ideas behind the gym are great and the staff is usually very polite and professional. When a flaw or issue is pointed out publicly, however, it's like talking to a bunch of children. If you don't rate them 5 stars, they take it as an insult. That was not my intention, but they took it that way and have since been very unpleasant and difficult. Good Luck at this gym. Again, it is a good gym and you'll likely enjoy it. Just beware of very amateur business practices and broken promises. UPDATE**** After lengthy conversion via text with the owner Steven Newman, I have agree to update the rating from 3 to 4 stars. He of course would like 5 stars, but I don't feel like I had a 5 star experience. The rest of you may and I hope you do. As for my conversations with Steven, I feel he genuinely wants to make my experience better and was very professional and mature. He took responsibility for negative posts made by his staff and admitted the decision to delete a specific post was his. I hope this review helps any potential future members. I started going to this gym a couple of months ago and I liked it from the first day. But after being there a few months and seeing just how things are, I have to say I really love this place! I have been a member of several gyms over the last 20+ years in Santa Fe and Albuquerque so I am definitely no stranger to the gym environment. This place has a ton of equipment that is always very well maintained. Its always clean in both the workout areas and the locker room. The restrooms are always clean and stocked and the staff has always been polite, attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere in general is friendly and comfortable (which is rare in some gyms). I've made some friends and don't get that animosity feeling from anyone. I have no problems asking anyone in there for a spot if needed. As far as pricing goes, I think you definitely get your money's worth and then some. I myself don't need the childcare but it's really good that it's available.
