I scheduled this appointment because I have been struggling with a persistent scalp condition that has not improved despite using medicated shampoos and following treatment recommendations. I came looking for answers and a treatment plan. Instead, I left feeling stereotyped, judged, and disrespected. The visit began with the physician looking at my chart and asking his medical assistant how to pronounce my first name. They went back and forth about it while I sat there before I eventually said it myself. If he was unsure, he could have simply asked me directly. The appointment quickly shifted to questions about how often I wash my hair. While that can be a reasonable medical question, the conversation repeatedly focused on assumptions about Black women's hair care practices and whether Black women follow treatment plans. I repeatedly explained that I wash my hair, use medicated shampoos, and follow directions, including allowing treatments to sit as instructed. My reason for seeking care was that these measures were not resolving the problem. What frustrated me most was that I did not feel my concerns were being evaluated before assumptions were made. Rather than focusing on why my condition persisted despite treatment, the physician repeatedly questioned whether I would follow recommendations. At one point, after making a recommendation, he told me I probably was not going to follow it anyway. I responded that this was a very presumptuous statement. He denied making assumptions despite having just made one. I told him directly not to stereotype me and repeatedly attempted to redirect the discussion back to treatment options. Instead of feeling heard, I felt dismissed. Another concerning moment occurred when he told me not to leave and discuss his comments with the front desk staff. I told him that if I had a concern, I would address it directly with him, which I did throughout the visit. My 17-year-old daughter was present and witnessed the interaction. She was disturbed by the way I was spoken to and uncomfortable with the tone of the visit. During both of our appointments, the medical assistant repeatedly attempted to excuse the physician's behavior by saying he was "just joking" and that he was "good at his job." She also encouraged us to overlook his comments because he had helped clear her own skin. Patients should not need staff members to explain away or justify a physician's conduct. To be fair, I was given prescriptions and a treatment plan. My concern is not that I left without treatment. My concern is that the interaction was so negative and unprofessional that it undermined my trust in the physician. Trust is a critical part of healthcare, and once it is lost, it becomes difficult to feel confident in the care being provided. I have worked in healthcare for years and have never had a provider speak to me in this manner. Clinical knowledge is important, but so are professionalism, respect, communication, and cultural awareness. Patients deserve all of those things. Unfortunately, that was not my experience, and I will be seeking care elsewhere.

The PA I met with was very kind and helpful, and overall my experience in the office was great. That all changed when I got the bill. I had visited for a skin cancer screening, that's what I said when I made the appointment, that's what I did in the office, but when I was billed by them for the lab work, they didn't bill it as preventative care. As a result, my insurance didn't cover the tests (even though it was in-network) and I am having to pay out of pocket. If you are planning to pay out of pocket, I do think they are worth visiting, but if you plan to use insurance, think twice! Update responding to comment: I have already spoken to the billing department. They were the first people I called when I ran into issues. In fact, I was going to write a 5 start review initially, but after speaking to billing and being told, quite rudely, that you "don't offer preventative care" I came here to share my experience with others.

During her time as my provider, I had nothing but positive experiences with both her and Clinical Associates. Unfortunately, since her retirement and the subsequent transfer of patients to Andrea Holzman, CNP and now to Tanya Johnson, CNP the quality of care and communication has significantly declined. I have repeatedly attempted to refill a prescription by leaving voicemail messages, sending requests through the patient portal, and having my pharmacy submit refill requests. None of these attempts have received a response. Additionally, my wife has been experiencing the same ongoing issues, and I know we are not the only patients affected. At this point, I am actively seeking a new healthcare facility. I am unsure whether the current provider is overwhelmed or simply not prioritizing patient care; however, the lack of communication is unacceptable. Calls to the front desk routinely go unanswered, and messages left are not returned. This is extremely disappointing given my long-standing history with this practice.

When I first went to see him 20 years ago he listened to my concerns and right away put me at ease. We found a solution to my health issue. Another major plus in my book. When you call the office you get a real live person who answers the phone. Which is very rare these days. I highly recommend if your in need for a dermatologist make an appointment today!!!

I waited less than 10 minutes before being taken to the exam room. I was in and out of the door in about 30 minutes. Doctor Snyder has a very VERY odd sense of humor and it is most often times inappropriate and can been felt as condescending. He can be very unprofessional (not in an adult/dirty way). He will put information in his notes that is just plain false. For example, I looked, because it's MY information, and noticed that he claimed to have advised me and recommended certain things. When I asked, yes, he did tell me, but he only mentioned those things after I asked. I asked after he closed the screen as he could have been about to tell me those things. He is very knowledgeable, but wants to show it, and for you to know that he is very knowledgeable. This is why, in my opinion, he very often jumps in to answer a question without the question being asked...he assumes what you may be about to ask. In my opinion, this is just rude. You can and should wait until I asked the question fully, to ensure that you understand it, and then answer. Again, his personality is very offputting and just not inviting or welcoming. I want my doctor to be very knowledgeable, but I also don't like being interrupted when I'm telling you something that is of concern to me. Just listen, then speak, like I do when you are talking. We can sing at the same time, but we cannot effectively talk at the same time. The level of care received is standard, again, he is knowledgeable.
