Super 'Sweet' store! Spotted this place a while back when visiting Clementines just down the street. I have been back several times just to check out what new things are available. Last visit we got a special box together for a milestone birthday party - candy from the 40's. This visit, I snagged a box of candy cigarettes for a joke, lemonheads, sweet and sour charms sucker, and red-hot candy dots. The owner is super enthusiastic about candy, and really is the best to mix in with the customers. She is pretty cool. I knew the freeze-dried candy next door had moved somewhere else and on this visit the connection between the two spaces has been opened up and the cutest space is now occupying that side. Cute items can't wait to go back when its time for little gifts. Cutest candy store ever. I came across this gem on a whim. I was looking for old school candy for a party i was throwing and this place has it all. Although she doesn't sell the candy in bulk, i was still able to purchase some candy and even tried some new finds. The owner is the sweetest and i love the reason why she opened her own candy shop! Cutest store ever! Not sure what we're calling this neighborhood...SOHA? Princeton Heights? If I lived anywhere near here I'd be here at least once a week! Small store but very colorful and impressive candy selection. Stopped in on a Saturday night and the owner is clearly friendly and passionate! My big scores of the day included Easies, fruit flavored candy coated marshmallows, and a French Chew Taffy in Mountain Dew flavor. I will be back here again and again. read more

Neighborhood candy store with owner, Brittany, who is the most enthusiastic person about candy that I've ever met. From cheap candy to luxurious to allergy friendly to international options... always find something new and exciting when we go. She creates an environment that is very family friendly. There are always kids in this store.... Always. We love spending our money supporting this business, but we also just really love spending our money on the delicious candy we get here. The store is in the sweet SouthHampton area. It's a little difficult to find parking, I had to use my expert parallel parking skills. It's a tiny store, even smaller than I expected. It didn't feel crowded or claustrophobic, just small. The best thing about this store is it's display cases and the absolutely darling owner. As you enter, it's impossible not to see a candy from your childhood that you thought was gone forever. I wasn't looking for anything in particular when I went in, but I managed to find plenty of great things. I asked about a candy I didn't see, and the owner said that she goes regularly to conventions to find new things for the store, so the display cases are always changing. I'm told that people who come in all the time are quite picky when the candy they love comes in stock! I didn't expect to find such a cute store in the city full of amazing nostalgia and candy I thought I'd never see again! I'll be back, for sure! read more

Love this quaint neighborhood candy shop. The shop may be small, but it packs a big punch! There so many varieties from the common Skittles to the more elusive potato chip in chocolate. There's bound to be something for everyone. The owner is very passionate candy and very friendly and helpful. Our kiddo has a dairy and egg allergy, and when we explained it to her she immediately helped in laying out a lot of his options. I know she also does a lot with neighborhood events, and I love that. When I've gone, it seems like there are a lot of regulars that drop by to support the candy store and grab some sweets. If you like candy, this store is a must check out. Charming (sorry for the pun) little candy shop. Is it off the beaten path? Yes, but it's perfectly located. It is just down Macklind from Copper Pig, The Mack, Russel's and Clementine's. I was in the area for lunch and experienced two of them before ending my Macklind experience in this candy store. Once I entered it was a flash back to my childhood. I saw so many of my favorite candies from being a kid that I don't see in the candy aisle at Walgreens. They had Bonomo's Taffy! I loved that when I was a wee lad. I wanted it so bad, but with crowns in this aged mouth I couldn't risk it. However, I did find and buy some of the "new" Tootsie Roll Pops. I treated me to three of them. They're fruit flavored with a contrasting fruit center. My sweet tooth is happy. The young lady working was charming. I'm assuming she's the owner because she talked of her recent visit to the candy trade show. She also, was able to continue three different conversations with the different customers in the store. My little one, fiancé and i recently moved to the area within the last few weeks. We have been struggling to occupy him and we started a new walk routine. THIS IS MY LITTLE ONES FAVORITE DESTINATION. I'm so thankful for this to have been our boys very first candy shop experience as a child (he's 2 1/2) but to make it so special. The owner is extremely personable, approachable, knowledgeable, extremely aware of her products and is very welcoming and warming. i'm addicted to 5th avenue bars thanks to her. I have been every day for three days and i don't think i'll ever stop unless the weather stops us. I'd appreciate change for the cheap little candies jk but yet ANOTHER PERK of this shop. Love a good candy store and am always super pumped with something shows up in Southampton! This story has some classics and a lot of things it's hard to find close by. Some things that are more popular outside the states than here. I felt like a kid again as soon as I walked through the door! Small candy store. Fortunately, candy is small, so there is a fair selection here! They had cheery airheads, which is I think all I got on my visit a month or so ago. The hours leave something to be desired, but if I owned a small business, the hours would leave pretty much everything to be desired. I'll be back for more candy the next time I'm in the area. read more

Cute, little, humble store with a fun selection of candy! The owner was very personable and sweet, and she knows her candy! Happy it's in the neighborhood, it's fun for my kids who never got to experience a penny candy store before. This is a great place! It is pretty charming and cute! The owner (I wish I could remember her name) was very passionate and knowledgeable about candy and talked enthusiastically with my spouse and I about the candy conventions she attends and her section of international candies. The shop is pretty small, but it's the perfect size since we're talking about candy here. Things seem reasonably priced and especially for someone like me who just wants a bite of this or two small pieces of that; no need to buy a whole bag of peanut butter bars when I just want a few. The owner told us she personally tastes every candy in the store, so definitely ask her for recommendations if you're not sure of what you're looking for. This is an awesome candy store! I love the fact that 1 women works. She remembers you, and that makes me feel happy to go. She always makes you feel welcome. She deserves way more business than she's getting. The price for the candy is the lowest I've seen in a long time. I just bought a full bag of candy for only $5.50! She gives care tell every customer who walks in the door. She will joke around with you making every time you go a wonderful experience. She is so creative with how she decorates the shop too. Such a fun place! It reminded me of Ben Franklin's from when I was a kid. The shop is very cramped, but loaded with candy - all sorts, so that's not really a complaint. There was so much candy from when I was a kid - definitely capturing that feel-good nostalgia. I hope it has staying power, as it adds so much to the SoHa area - especially with the deli gone (so sad). If she adds in a soda cooler with old timey sodas, I'm moving in. Lol. read more

This is unusual, because candy usually isn't the first thing I think of eating at the holidays, or any time of year. For the uninitiated, Merb's snappers look like the candy often called "turtles" by other confectioners. From my perspective, they seem both lighter and "meatier" (can you say that about the nut in a candy?). Turtles sometimes are a hunk of sweet gunk that stick to my teeth. But snappers seem more like an elegant dessert, especially the dark chocolate version. I'm not describing snappers very well. But I think you get the point that in the category of "candy," I hold snappers in high regard. My experience inside the shop was tops. Parked on the side street, was buzzed in, served immediately, all questions answered. My boxes of snappers were prepared, a mix of dark and milk chocolate (gifts to spread the Merb's love), and I purchased a bag of dark-chocolate almonds for the road. I was greeted by both the owners (at least I think they were the owners) and they began talking to me about the concept for their store. They have all kinds of candy to offer and I think they even have funnel cakes. I was offered a few samples of some gummy bears that I had never tried before. I think I had a strawberry-banana gummy bear and it was delicious. I don't know what brand the gummy bears are, but they are definitely soft and chewy. They also had a bunch of salt water taffy and I actually purchased some to bring to work for my candy dish (which the students have all enjoyed)! The store reminded me of an old soda shop (and they sell soda too)! It is also colorful and bright. The colors of the candy on the walls really stand out too. If you are in the area I would recommend stopping in and giving them a try. I really hope the business can stick around since it is a neat concept for the area and who doesn't have a sweet tooth? It is just one of the delicious items I got from Mound City Shelled Nut Company this morning. I got a small pack of their jumbo roasted cashews and big bag of their tiny corn nuts (usually corn nuts are so huge, and these were cute little things!) They roast all of their nuts in their store, so everything is incredibly fresh. they've been doing this since 1917, so they know what they're doing! What I got today was absolutely delicious, everything you want a roasted cashew to be and everything you earn a corn nut to be! The turtle, which they make in-house, is in a league of its own - so much delicious dark chocolate, the caramel was smooth and plentiful, and there were lots of fresh pecans underneath it all. Check this place out - they have more than just bags of nuts (of which there are a large variety), but some hand dipped chocolates, other candies, dried fruit, gift boxes, and they even had some pecans and walnuts still in their shell. Are the nuts a little more expensive than getting them at the grocery store? Maybe, but for the quality and the fact that they are freshly roasted 50 feet from where you buy them, it is so worth it!
