I am giving this place two stars, not based on service, but based on what other reviewers have said about the animals. We had gone horseback riding here and we purchased it through travel zoo, since there was a good deal. The normal price that is on their website, for 90 minutes is $60 per rider. Do I think it's worth $60, no. But horseback riding isn't cheap, I have been on a few trail rides and they are pretty expensive. I have been on some good rides where the guide lets me trot with the horse, but this was a slower ride. Our voucher also included zoo admission.
The guides were really nice and accommodating. They did a really nice job, with making us feel comfortable. The ride felt short, but I didn't time it, the gearing up and getting on your horse, etc, is included in the 90 min, so maybe it's really only an hour. The trail wasn't bad, it was a slow ride, but I mean, they aren't going to let you trot around with the horse. It's nice for older and young kids. But if you are expecting a faster ride, you won't get it here. The horses were all very nice and well mannered and we did tip, because the guides were really nice and accommodating.
I agree with other reviews for some of the wildlife that are on the farm. There was one camel, coyotes, a wolf (we only saw one), in small cages. I felt sad for them. The bears also, didn't seem to be a large pen. The reindeer pen didn't look to be cleaned for a week, it was filled with lots of poop for 1 adult reindeer and a baby reindeer that kept getting bit by horse flies. I could not stay in that pen long. It was a bit sad.
I really wish they kept the farm to just farm animals and petting farm. The petting animals, were fun. I liked the goats, there were a lot of baby goats and they were really cute. You can go in the goat pen, but it doesn't tell you anywhere on the farm with a sign or map that you can go in. I only saw another woman go in and asked her and she was the one that told us. The sheep were cute and there were llamas and other farm animals. The place is has a lot of acre, the horses had the most room and there are some unused land, and looks to be a vegetable garden too.
They only have outhouses, with antibacterial gel, so if you can bring soap and water, I would highly recommend it, that gel stuff doesn't do anything. They do accept credit cards/debit cards for the animal feed, which was $3 a bag, and their is plenty of food in there for $3 bucks. They have a case of drinks too that you can buy from. There are also picnic tables around that you can eat lunch, if you bring it.
Some users said the zoo admission was pricey, but if you consider how many animals they have and feeding them, etc. The cost to me is justified. I am not sure if I would go here again, but it's fun for kids. read more
