Thank you to April, an amazing Manager at Charmoy Dental and the staff, especially those at the front desk holding everything together... They have a great program giving you two cleanings within a year for those tight with their budget but still wanting dental services. Unfortunately, I had other issues that prevented me from being able to fully participate with my second visit and instead of sending me on my merry way with a frown on my face, April without hesitation resolved it in a friendly and shockingly accommodating manner that was unlike any other office I have ever experienced. I literally had tears in my eyes that she was able to work with me beyond what I could even imagine. Thank you so very much for caring not just about your business but about "ME"!!! read more

DO NOT USE THIS DISHONEST DENTAL PRACTICE! I had a dental cleaning on March 8th and they told me that I had 3 teeth that needed fillings. I asked them to email me a quote for the fillings and the receptionist completely forgot. I called them again in June to schedule another cleaning because I am getting a dental implant soon and said I wanted to also get the fillings done at the same time and to please send me the quote for the fillings. The receptionist said she would email the quote over, but once again, she never did! 3 hours later, Charmoy Dental called me again and asked if I wanted to schedule a dental cleaning... I told the (different) receptionist that I just spoke with someone on the phone a few hours ago and already made an appointment to schedule a dental cleaning and to do the fillings, but that the other receptionist never sent me over the quote and if she could please send me the quote and she finally did. On June 18th, I took the day off work to go to Charmoy Dental and when I got there, they told me that they only had me down for a teeth cleaning when I clearly told them while making the appointment that it was for both. I had to take another day off work on June 24th to do the fillings due to their mistake. The dental practice has multiple receptionists, but they don't do anything except gossip and play on their phones... On June 24th on the day of the fillings, I confirmed with the receptionist that the price for filling 3 teeth was $755.20. When I was getting my teeth done, the dentist told me that there are 2 more teeth that need to be filled. I did not think things through and just accepted since this was mid-procedure and I trusted them. I was also never given a price for this. The extra money is not an issue if I really had a problem, but after they finished (around half an hour for 5 teeth - it was a very rushed job) I started to think I had been deceived. In March, when I came for a teeth cleaning and X-Rays, they said I only needed fillings for 3 teeth. They had X-Rays and had a good look at my teeth (they were cleaning them after all...) so they should have seen if there were actually 5 teeth that needed to be filled. Then 1 week before the fillings, they did the teeth cleaning and again confirmed that only 3 teeth needed to be filled. But suddenly during the procedure, they magically discover 2 more teeth that needed to be filled? This is either incompetence (due to not detecting the 2 other teeth that supposedly needed to be filled during 2 previous teeth cleaning appointments) or deception. I'm more inclined to believe the latter. My initial $755.20 quote ended up being $1243.20 and they did not do a careful job. They only spent half an hour doing 5 fillings for my teeth. Surface fillings for teeth go from 1 to 5 with 1 surface fillings being the smallest cavities. My teeth are not in terrible shape. I am attaching the initial quote for 3 teeth to show this - there was only one tooth that needed 2 surface fillings and the other 2 were only 1 surface fillings. Charmoy Dental gave me 2 extra unnecessary fillings just to make $488 off of me at the cost of my future dental health. There was no issue with these 2 teeth and they operated on them just to profit off of me. Fillings fail and need to be replaced every few years, so I have additional future expenses. The workmanship of the fillings is also questionable, but more importantly, my good teeth were ruined. I gain nothing from writing this and only wish to prevent other people from being taken advantage of and harmed by this facility. They might write a retort to my review, but remember that they are a business and NOT an honest one. I recommend going to a DIFFERENT dental practice and NOT this one! read more

Used to think that they were an upstanding dental practice - actually been a patient since the early 90s when Dr. Charmoy actually ran it with experienced and honest administrative staff. A couple years ago, during one of my regular checkup/cleanings, one of the dentists (not Dr M.S) walked in the room after my cleaning, asked if everything was alright, and then left. My insurance was billed for a full checkup. Years later, and present date, my regular checkup/cleaning is done, insurance submitted (100% covered), and the practice decides to bill me for the difference between their charges and their agreed-on amount with insurance. It took a certified letter, threatening to file a complaint, to fix their action. Now, they are deciding to no longer accept patients with my insurance. Apparently, the "new" Charmoy Dental has decided to immorally push away patients that make their lack of ethics shown. Their website declares that they are NJ's best Dental practice. - They once were, when Dr Charmoy instilled competence, ethics, and professionalism. read more

Do not use this dentist. Go upstairs to Seidner who does a much better job. I had a number of fillings that needed to be done. I got them done at Charmoy only to have worse pain for weeks later. The pain was because of a cracked tooth which may or may not have been caused by Charmoy. Here we are 6 months later and I have switched dentists. My most recent cleaning and x rays reveal that the 4 fillings I had done by Charmoy have GAPING holes in them. I now need to get a root canal because Charmoy did not know how to properly close a filling and I have root decay from the hole left in my filling/tooth. So much pain, time, and money has been wasted because Charmoy could not do their job correctly. I advise you find a different dentist. read more

Dr Castro and all the team have been brilliant. I'm going through some major work with my teeth and the support and clear explanations have been great. Always there and not waiting long at all. I would recommend this dentist to anyone for just a check up to dental or for any specific work u need done. I visited Dr. R. Silvestri because of great reviews she has. I was extremely unhappy with the examination and communication. She spent few minutes for the exam making it very painful and extremely fast (few minutes) that might lead to mistakes. She did not explain the exam outcome in details (I had to ask questions), was inpatient and in a rush (had a patient waiting in another room). read more

Bad experience of my lifetime, inspite of negative reviews and advicefrom friends to avoid this place we had to make him our family dentist due to insurance requirements. The dentist is very incapable of treatment of even simple procedures. I had to even visit my family physician after a dental procedure due to infections. Don't follow ethical standards in practicing dentistry, very arrogant, rude, unreliable, unresponsive practice. In short u can not meet a dentist more worse than him. Even the half yearly appointment with the dental hygienist was not satisfactory and had to repeat it elsewhere. My daughters had to redo theirs too. My husbands appointment was so rushed and haphazardly done last time that he ended up in a lot of pain. Pls avoid this practice at any cost and save yourself from misery. Update June 18th 2018: The crown that was done July 6th 2017 on the upper right side had come off. Spoke to Linda in the morning around 9:28 AM on June 18th 2018 and she gave me an appointment for 11:45 AM on June 19th 2018 with Dr Castro the other female dentist at Charmoy Dental ( I have never seen before) . I got a call from Stacey the manager at 10:16 AM who replied to my previous review in google reviews asking me to send any concerns to her email address that they don't want to take care of the crown that came off inspite a five year guarantee because I posted bad reviews. read more

Several months ago, I originally made an appointment at Seidner Dentistry upstairs, but they did not accept my insurance, and when they determined I needed a crown, the sent me down to Charmoy so it would be covered. Trusting their recommendation, I started the crown procedure with Dr. Castro at Charmoy. BIG mistake. First off, the majority of the work was done by dental assistants, NOT by Dr. Castro, which didn't seem normal and left me very uneasy. (After speaking with another dentist later on, I was informed that this practice is questionable). What was supposed to be a 2-visit procedure over the course of 2 weeks took almost 2 MONTHS. The dental assistant broke my first crown after over an hour of trying to shave it down so it would fit, so they had to have it remade. (It didn't help that she was engrossed in whatever movie was playing on the TV while doing the procedure.) When the next one came in over a week later, the same dental assistant shaved off too much again and made it too small, as it ended up having too much space around it and would have caused gum infections. So they had to send it back again. At this point, I was very upset and complained about how long the process was taking and how much time I had to keep taking off work for their mistakes. Their response? They gave me a $25 Shop Rite gift card for my troubles (??????????). They seemed to have a whole stash of gift cards on hand for this very reason, which seemed very sketchy. There was NO consideration to the fact that I had already paid for the crown in full before even starting the process. Also, the temporary crowns they kept putting in during the interim kept popping off and I had to keep reapplying them myself at home. I could tell they were making them very quickly and not taking the time to put them in properly, and it was very disconcerting. At the third appointment, another dental assistant DROPPED MY NEW CROWN ON THE FLOOR while trying to put it in and then couldn't find it. I heard her fumbling around behind me, and I guess she cleaned it off, because she ended up putting it in my mouth. But once again, she ended up shaving off too much porcelain an exposed the metal on the top, which is NOT the final product I was promised and NOT what I was paying hundreds of dollars for. They tried to pass it off as acceptable and acted like I was being picky, but I refused and said it needed to be redone correctly. Finally almost 2 months later, they put in the FOURTH crown that they had to make for me. It's in, but it looks horrible and it is still killing me -- the pain is much worse than before I sought treatment. I refuse to go back to them for any more work, so now I will be working with a new dentist, and I have to pay to have a completely new crown made. I DEFINITELY do not recommend Charmoy. They treated me horribly and kept making excuses for their mistakes and showed no concern for wasting my time or causing me prolonged discomfort. They acted like it was a nuisance when I asked for novocaine because my tooth hurt so bad from not being treated properly. I missed so much work having to keep going back for appointments, and the appointments always lasted hours. The dental assistants don't seem to know what they're doing, but they have them do all the work so they can bring in a large number of patients. It's obviously for financial reasons, so they can work on a ton of patients at once, and the quality of the service shows it. I usually take negative reviews with a grain of salt, but trust me, this experience was an absolute nightmare. read more

I needed to find a new dentist and I needed to find one fast. I was in a lot of pain and having decided to leave my former dentist's practice and wanting one near to where I live decided to give Charmoy Dental, approx. 5 min. from home a try. What a fortuitous find! Not only are they near where I live, but they gave me an lamost immediate appointment. Sadly, they told me I would need an extraction (which I had to go elsewhere to get) and which I eventually did. My new dentist, Dr. Laura Castro was very welcoming, but also very up-front with me after reviewing my xrays. She warned that the tooth directly in front of the one that needed to be removed could prove problematic and that they'd watch it. Well, she was right and I will need a root canal in that tooth. Obviously, root canal is nothing to look forward to, but I appreciated her candor and her patience with a patient who is probably less than helpful because I am a fearful dental patient. All of the above having been said, if you need dentists who are open and honest with what you probably will need, then look no further. Not only is Charmoy Dental conveniently located on Rt. 10 W, just after Performance Ford, but they make your intake as a new patient as easy and convenient as possible paperwork wise. All in all, and in light of how complicated life can be, Charmoy Dental make your life just that much easier. And no, I don't work for them! :-) read more

Please do a favor yourself and don't go to Charmoy Dental office! The staff doesn't know how to schedule an appointment: they do not know who is calling you to confirm an appointment and after you make an effort to go to their office at an appointment changed in a very short term, they are telling you that you are scheduled in couple of weeks as the old appointment. Getting to the office and having the first check done by doctor Castro was another proof as they are trying to scam you. My asked was very simple: just fix a broken filling: well dr Castro first recommended an extraction of one of teeth (which didn't have anything to do with my broken filling), after that taking care of other two fillings and finally fixing my broken filling, but obviously by replacing with a crown ... and they are not going to start any work until you have the cleaning done by them ... true scam trying to take advantage of you! read more

Dr. Schultz is nothing short of amazing ! I hate the dentist and had not gone for quite some time before Charmoy. He is very gentle and takes his time to ensure you are comfortable. I have always felt at ease in his office and any time there is an issue they always get you in ASAP. read more

HORRIBLE DENTAL ASSISTANT! Although the rest of the staff is fine, the doctors have employed a dental assistant who is INCOMPETENT, to say the least, and even if you specifically ask the staff to schedule you with another dental assistant, they yes you to death and then schedule your appointment with this dental assistant anyway. While laughing at her own ineptitude, and making no apology for her incompetence, this dental assistant bumped me in the head with the x-ray machine, hit me in the back of the head with the head rest of the patient chair, she made six attempts to properly insert a crown that I was having put in place that day, which was uncomfortable, and finally, needed to take the dental x-ray 4 times and still could not get the x-ray right so that another dental assistant had to complete the job (THIS MEANS I RECEIVED FOUR TIMES THE AMOUNT OF RADIATION THAT I NEEDED BECAUSE OF HER INCOMPETENCE). When I specifically requested not to be scheduled with this dental assistant for my next appointment, which I had already paid for or else i would not have returned to this dental office, I was assured by the office staff that it would not be a problem, and I would be with a different assistant. This did not happen; I was scheduled with her anyway and felt trapped into the appointment. My wishes were not honored. At a time when people have a lot of choices for their dental needs, there is simply no reason for any person to choose this dentist's office, as the doctor has chosen to employ incompetent members on his staff . I highly recommend finding a different dental office to anyone thinking of going to Charmoy Dental. You will be saving yourself a headache, and possibly, unnecessary radiation if you are stuck with this dental assistant. read more
