Then, after giving the office access to my records I was told my case wouldn't be taken on specifically because of my complex medical history. I understand every provider has the right to decide which cases fall within their comfort zone, but it was disheartening to be turned away specifically because of health circumstances that led to needing periodontal care in the first place? I'd have appreciated more transparency about what specifically made my case a concern, being told upfront when I disclosed my health history that Dr. Astolfi does not work with patients who have complex medical conditions, or even a referral to someone equipped to treat patients like myself. Patients navigating complex medical situations are often the ones who most need to find a provider willing to work with them, not around them.
