All you need to know is what these Yelp reviews make so painfully obvious. 68 reviews and 52 (now 53...) of them are 1 STAR. I've been with them for over 30 yrs and if you don't "bundle" they will screw you as badly as they can. NO MAS! I've had it with these vultures... Now that we have Ziply, AT&T 5G and Starlink these clowns at Spectrum think they can still gouge you... I talked with their "Customer Service" and asked them if they could lower my bill to be at least somewhat competitive. They said they could drop it $5/month. Tried this a number of times in the past and they would drop it $5 but it would go back up in just a couple of months. So disingenuous!... I asked them as a customer for over 30 yrs. if they could help me out. Her response was "being a long standing customer has no impact on what we charge"... then she quickly rephrased it to "it isn't like we don't care about a long term customer... this is just our rate structure" regardless of how long you've been a customer. Now, I have a choice between AT&T (for a 350 Mb stream) or Starlink for about $65 for a somewhat faster one, or wait for Ziply to come to my neighborhood for about $30/month for a gigabit stream. I don't know who runs Spectrum, but whoever it is, has clearly given up on the pedestrian person's support. So... I am almost giddy about finally being able to tell Spectrum to take their service and stick it where the proverbial sun doesn't shine. You've lost a customer for life. read more

Update for internet services. Spectrum iNET (formerly Charter Comm) One thing I often fail to do is update old reviews and note improvement etc. That's not very fair for the businesses. Changes are good in the last 2 years. Pros: + Moved from 80% up time to 99% up time and I only reboot for refresh not out of necessity. + Phone customer service is quick compared to a few years ago and through the "plandemic". + I have the highest contracted speed for my home area and it's plenty fast for all my needs. We are a heavy bandwidth household. Cons: - If you're not intermediate tech savvy, they're scripted solutions for problems can cost you unnecessary time and money. - Buy and use your own equipment! Always split the modem from the router and own both. Their combo free lease equipment solutions are not best. - Cost is high compared to some red state markets but low compared to the gouging in places like Cali. read more

Spectrom/Charter TV in Pasco...OMG, terrible. 3/4 techs out, different remotes, have to reset the cable box a few times a week, the screen goes black, cannot get it back on, CC goes off, cannot watch On Demand movies, techs hang up on me, I could go on and on. Terrible service at the store..manager was/is terrible. Charter needs to drain the swamp there. I have no trouble watching tv on my laptop...65" Sony remains off. Lost the Dallas game on my sony...it is not the tv. The digital transition?! It wasn't too bad. With Charter I brought in my old analog box, and got it swapped for an HD box (this took a little while, because they had a moderate line). Found out they made a mistake (charged for an HD DVR, but I only had an HD box). Incompetency My Internet service was going in and out. Note we have Charter (Spectrum) Internet and Dish satellite TV. Anyway Charter internet repair technician Jordan came over. He did not fix the problem and made a bigger problem. He basically said he corrected the problem and left. After he was gone one of my three Dish satellite TV's did not work and the internet was still down. I called Charter customer support, explained the facts and was told that the TV issue was not their problem and that I would have to contact Dish, the customer support person was extremely rude, I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was put on hold for 22 minutes then disconnected. After investigation by a private technician it was discovered that the Charter internet tech did not touch the Charter internet cables but instead worked on the Dish Satellite TV cables, he disconnected my three way Dish Satellite splitter, installed a Charter internet two way splitter on the Dish Satellite cables leaving one of the Dish TV cables dis-connected, he then left the cables and splitter hanging down in the way of the doorway from their original secured position, and the then took the Dish Satellite splitter with him. I couldn't believe it. This guy did not know what he was doing at all, lied, and then I was left hanging by customer support. read more

I went to pay my bill had no problem with that I went to get a new modem for my Internet they gave me the wrong one the 800 number that they gave me wouldn't hook it up so they told me I had to go back to the store and get another modem so I'm back to the modem I called the store again I couldn't hook it up so now they have to send a installer over to plug-in the same three wires are plugged in I waited a long time it's expensive the store they treat you like a utility department just not a good experience read more

Only giving charter a one star because I cannot leave anything less. Truly awful. Horendous customer service. Cannot get a hold of anyone local and when I actually did she hung up on me. They could never figure out why my close captioning wouldn't work, never followed up when they said they would, DVR never worked correctly, and so incredibly expensive. I called to cancel my cable service the 1-800 number said I would be charged through the 1st. I take the equipment to the store, they informed that I would be charged through the 22nd because they no longer prorate. So I take the effort to bring back equipment and you charge me for no service that's just no right. I should never have to pay for something I don't use. Deserves no stars. Service disruptions, poor, hazardous installation and combative unhelpful customer service; all of this can be your for as little as $75/month. Long time customers are "rewarded" by skyrocket increases in rates. This entire company will ultimately be completely bankrupt, sooner rather than later now since Ziply is providing fiber service at 10X the speed for half the cost. Let me be the next in line to complain about charter. Our internet keeps going out. Common sense tells me to try resetting the router/modem. That fails, so I them call the charter 888 number. A very nice lady answers with waves of sympathy over my problems and promises rolling off her tongue of how "we'll get this problem fixed right up." As you could probably discern from my 1-star rating, she lied. I've had charter for years, because they are the only company that serves my area. Same thing with the small business I run. I consistently have problems with them on both a residential and commercial level. This is just another example of a company capitalizing on a commodity and not caring about their service because, who is going to outright cancel their internet without any way to get another provider?? I so very badly wish another company would spring up with some ethics and put Charter out of business. read more

I am very dissatisfied with the internet service provided by Charter. It is slow as hell! The commercial they play stating the speed of transmission has been increased for free is untrue (at least with mine). I continually get an "unable to load" notification. Once my contract is up..I'm moving onto another provider. But I'm not done yet. I also have a gripe about the cable service. At times the image breaks up and the sound gets interrupted and broken. Its not my tv. Stay away from this provider. Two stars, one because there is no option for zero and two for at least having internet/cable. read more

I was at this location today accompanying my mother and I can definitely see why they have one star. I truly believe people can have their bad days in customer service as I have been in the industry for about 10 years. However, something has to be done about the lack of Respect and blatant rudeness from Aurelia to customers. If someone is being sent to a location with information from Spectrum or to pick up receivers, for Aurelia to basically tell my mother "well that's what the people on the phone told you and we are the real thing, not the phone that's different," does not make sense. You do not talk to someone as if they are dumb, you are there to provide knowledge to the customer. Instead of calling someone to figure and SOLVE or at least help instead of challenge everything asked (And I say what she responded to in a nice way.) Even another agent standing next to the customer remembers the interaction and what she was told by an IN-STORE agent previously (to clarify) vs a customer service agent. Since I live outside city limits, Charter is the only company I can get internet from. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother. I haven't had much trouble with the internet but the ongoing sales pitches are aggravating. I don't have a landline and I don't want one, but Charter seems determined to change my mind. Plus there are lots of hidden fees, like "cable maintenance" or other crap like that. Try to find another provider, unless you like solicitors calling with "incredible deals" and enough junk mailings to wallpaper your house with. read more

Cable says cable good, Dish bad. But cable suffers from the same weather related problems when they receive services from satellites. No effort to apologize or credit customers for the inconvenience. One word can describe Charter: UNPROFESSIONAL When I called to set up my service it was simple enough. The woman I talked to on the phone reassured me that they provided services in my area and promised to send me an e-mail with information (that I never received). Since my husband and I were both working, my mother waited at our house for the Charter guy (to his credit he did arrive on time). However, when I called my mom for an update later that day she informed me that neither internet or cable were set up because the area we live in is a newer development and that they had to construct a piece of equipment so that not only our house could get Charter internet but would also be for my whole neighborhood. The service man told my mother that this would happen in 1-2 days. I spent an hour on the phone with Charter trying to figure out what was going on and they told me 3-5 days. And unknowingly, my husband called them and they told him it would be 1-2 months. That's a pretty big date range! I understand they don't have the equipment. But here's what pissed me off: 1. Why would you tell me you service the area when you definitely don't? Why waste both of our time? 2. I had to call my mother for information when I felt that the service man should have called ME the homeowner and notified me what the problem was and when he would come back. He never called us to update us (and it's been a week now). 3. The service man ripped the cover off of our cable box on the wall. There are wires spilling everywhere, random pieces of equipment that have fallen on the floor and I can't get the cover back on because I can't even begin to organize all the wires (several of them not connected anymore). Thanks for giving me work to do ahole. CHARTER, PLEASE DO US A FAVOR AND GO OUT OF BUSINESS. Or hire people that don't suck. Too bad there is not a 0 stars option. read more

The difference between internet in third world countries and internet from Charter, is that in third world countries you have the connection. This is embarrassing that a US company can't provide a reliable internet service. Unfortunately I don't know their competitors in the area, but if you need internet connection for work purposes, this won't solve your problem. read more

If I had a ZERO star option, I'd select it. I've experienced many of the same problems other reviewers have already commented on, so I won't repeat the woes with poor TV quality or the off-again, on-again Internet service, or the constant raising of prices. My frustration is with the web site. Like a good citizen, I change my log-in information every so often. I have been unable to do so on Charter, because no matter what combination of characters and symbols I use, my attempts are rejected. I follow the "tips" for strong ID and PW exactly, without success. When I called Charter, it took me forever to reach a real person with whom I could converse, instead of the robot, who could not fathom my problem. When I did reach a real person, and explained my problem, he assumed I was just too stupid to figure out how to construct an ID or PW and told me to just use something simple. "I use Welcome1," he said. I explained that the Charter web site has tips for ID and PW that recommended something stronger than "Welcome1." He said, "That's not really Charter putting up that web site." After I regained my composure, I suggested that Charter should be paying as much attention to their outsourced providers as they do to their own operations, especially given that the web site is what connects users to Charter. He told me there was nothing he could do about that. They he asked me to stay on the line for a survey. #$%&^@!!!!! I absolutely have to change to a differently provider. It's such a hassle, but it will be worth it to get rid of Charter. Any suggestions, fellow sufferers? read more

Charter has many not so great reviews. But my experience really hasn't been that bad. I use them only for Internet. Don't fall for bundles as they are more expensive then services separate. I haven't had many problems with internet and the price is right. I had a nightmare with Frontier once they took over Verizon. The service itself is really fast. Faster then any other internet option in our region. The price is right too when you are in an agreement (ask for 1 service agreements for 24 month for the best deals). 34.99 per month isn't bad for 15mg speed internet. I don't see Charter doing much more "devious" things then other providers (Dish, Directv, Frontier). Just don't fall for the advertising/bundles, don't expect stellar customer service just like the others and you'll be fine. To note, this review points at Charters location. Keep in mind you can do VERY LITTLE at this location. Exchange equipment and pay your bill. That's about it. read more

If there were any other providers in the area I wouldn't hesitate to drop Charter in an instant. The services have not lived up to what we are paying for 50% of the time. (The other 50% of the time it works but, still doesn't reach the speeds we are paying for) We have had 3 "specialists" come out to diagnose our issues; each resulting in absolutely no long term improvements, as our internet becomes unusable again in a week. Literally nobody in the Tri-Cities likes these cons. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to them. We can't threaten to take our business elsewhere because there isn't anywhere to go, and we are all too addicted to the internet to just boycott them. We are at their mercy and they couldn't give less of a damn because they know they don't have to. That being said there is actually no honest internet provider in the country so...I guess we just have to wait for Elon's satellites. I am so tired of the drops in their internet service. We experience no or extremely slow internet service a few times each month. They advertise 100 Mbps second but I maybe get a third that much when it is working well. Right now I have almost no service. The Spectrum Speed Test tells me I am receiving 1.0 Mbps download speed. I'm surprised I can write this review. They tell me they are working on the issue, but I don't believe them, This happens all of the time. Very Bad Company and Very Bad Service. read more

It seems I have a unique problem with this company and I'm hoping that someone else reading this can comment if they've had the same experience. I called customer service today to inquire as to why I haven't received a bill for the previous two months but they can send me a disconnect notice that reached me just fine. Their first option was to blame the post office. To that I stated that I haven't had any of my many other bills go missing at all, ever, so to have two from the same company, two months in a row is a coincidence of astronomical odds.They then wanted to verify that they had the correct address to which I reminded them that I was sent a disconnect notice to the same residence. I was then told to go online to see when my bill is due. I guess it's now my responsibility to do their job AND pay the bill. Having come from Comcast Xfinity services I don't have a high bar for service, but at least Comcast didn't bother me in the first weeks of signing up to add TV or phone. Very annoying. Internet service is acceptable but that's all I can say about it. I've had some quirky service interruptions, though not so often it interferes with my online activities. I live with two other people and the 60 Mbps down, 4 Mbps up speed tier is not good enough. We constantly max out our bandwidth by streaming and gaming. Charter is behind the curve with their network in the Tri-Cities area. The price isn't bad, which is a plus, but I'd pay $5 more per month if it meant I could get ~75 Mbps down, 12-15 Mbps up. Too many times I've been the victim of severe lag because upload gets maxed out while playing games and since so many services require download for streaming movies or downloading games, I've been left unhappy with Charter so far. There is a fiber company with very competitive speeds (100-200 Mbps up/down) for another $15 per month. They haven't expanded into my neighborhood but they said they will if they get more commitments. I'm spreading the word about that company (I think it's called PocketiNet or something like that) and waiting for lawn signs to arrive to advertise that because if Charter doesn't catch up with the rest of the state this area will be left hurting as everything goes online and all digital. For now, Charter gets me by but I'm not excited about the service. Update: Charter told me that they were upgrading the network in the Tri-Cities area and I'd be automatically upgraded to 100 MB download, keeping the current 4 MB upload speed, around New Years Day. It's May 4, 2017 and nothing has happened but I had a Charter employee confirm they were in process up speeding up the internet tier I'm on without extra charge. Apparently that's a 5 month late project (and counting). But what's worse is the upload speeds being stuck at an inconsistent 4 Mbps when they need to start hitting 10 Mbps+ like other major cable internet providers are doing. An all-fiber network from competitors are getting closer to being established in various Richland, Pasco and Kennewick neighborhoods and Charter is the biggest loser once competitors like PocketiNet and Telco are more established. Start harping on Charter to do better and I highly suggest getting in touch with PocketiNet and Telco to bring their services to your area, because they will with enough interest (and they'll make it happen quickly). LASTLY, Charter has become inconsistent with service. I lose internet service anywhere from once to four times daily. Usually it's not a long outage, maybe a minute; other times it's 5 minutes or so. This didn't seem to be an issue from day-1 but over the last month it has become a regular occurrence. I'm not happy with Charter at all. I'll bail on them once another competitive service launches in my neighborhood, which is possible before the end of the year. read more

I was so excited to get a little faster than DSL from Frontier (still actually Verizon) and this cable internet service is just very slightly faster. If they had something between 1M and 12 M for just a little more per month I'd spring for it, but it's just too much of a jump. And of course the next step up is over 40.00 a month more. read more

Not a fan of Charter at all. Customer for over a decade and they wouldn't work with me on pricing when discounts ran out. Called three different times to give them a chance to restore discounts and they wouldn't. Fourth time I called was to cancel service and THEN suddenly they wanted to restore my old pricing. Told them I was switching to DirecTV and the guy had the gall to say "you know their pricing will go up in a year right?" I said "yes just like yours does every year but DTV told me about it up front at least". Anyway I've been away from Charter for three months and am much happier with my TV service. I do still use them for Internet as I've had no problems there . Still a little more expensive than what I think is fair. read more

Charter is a scam! They screwed up our cable and then reduced our service and increased our price by $40...ALL UNANNOUNCED! Then when we call to fix it, they tell us that they charge $50 to bring a technician out to fix the problem. After complaining, the agent says she can reduce the technician fee down to $25. WHAT A SCAM. They're lucky there is no competition, but when there is, Charter is toast. I can't wait until the day! read more
