I'll be honest..a few years back I was a bit skeptical about KinderCare but I couldn't wish for a better, second family then the one taking care of our now 3 year old. Communication is incredible (app with daily pictures and more) plus they never let down their guard (and still haven't) during the pandemic. So many of us (parents) have been stuck in a horrible position to either work or send our child to daycare during this time and I chose to send my child there, which I have never regretted. The KinderCare staff is doing an incredible job. My three year old is constantly asking me how do I say "x" in Spanish because her teacher is teaching them Spanish in their classroom!! She isn't even in pre-k yet! I feel compelled to share just how incredible this center in particular has been for our family. I was incredibly disappointed in our experience at the Kindercare on Charter Lane in Lancaster PA, to a point that it makes me sick to think that I sent my child there as long as I did. It started off really great. We loved his first teacher and director, and he felt secure and happy going there. Then he changed classrooms. The center was understaffed, so he was in a class with children younger than his developmental age. I would express my concerns and was brushed off. Then he started coming home with scratches. His happy demeanor changed drastically and he was much more anxious and resistant every time I took him. I would leave feeling in my gut that something was wrong. I would call about the scratches and they would again brush me off. Finally, I made the decision to pull him after a conversation with his teacher where I felt incredibly dismissed, even though I was expressing concerns regarding his regression and his safety. I even emailed the director with my concerns and why we were pulling him. She sent me back a rather snarky email which was very delayed because she needed to wait until she could respond "nicely." This was in 2021, and I recently was talking with my son who talks sometimes about his "old school" and how much more he likes his "new school." I asked him why he didn't like his "old school," and he said he didn't like the teachers because they yelled a lot. While I can't substantiate any sort of abuse, what I observed in their interactions with my child was nothing short of unprofessional, disengaged, and impatient. Its been some time and hopefully things have gotten better, but as a mother who is heartbroken over the way my son was treated, I urge anyone looking for a child care center to vet this one closely. read more

I'm very SAD, that I have to write a open review on a great company like charter KinderCare. I'm writing to let people know what happen to me in this facilitie, and ask if it has happened to anyone else? For the last couple of months I have been trying to inscribe my son here, since day one there is a lady in the front desk which attend me got my information and and son's information. And after a short talk told me that I would have to talk to the director of the place because I would have to put my son in a waiting list. After several attempts to talk to the director she is never there the counter lady say she cannot make decisions, these has been going in person and making fones calls. Know at one point I did got lucky would be the right word and got ahold of her, she explain to me that I would have to contact of visit her on the 26 of aug 2019, because she would know for sure if they had space for my son. So today Aug 26,2019 I go up there and guess what the front counter lady says to me with a smile, the director is not there. This has been going on between waiting, calling and going to these place in person for maybe 1 month and half. ITS VERY SAD THIS IS HOW THESE PEOPLE RUN THESE FACILITY, where ower children are being takin care by them. I finish telling the front counter lady after words to cancel..! And just walked away got in my car and left. CONCLUSION: I DO NOT FELL MY SON WILL BE IN SAFE PLACE WHERE THEY WONT ACKNOWLEDGE THE IMPORTANCES OF A PERSON LIKE THE DIRECTOR BEING AT THIS PLACE, WHICH IS A CLEAR INDICATION THAT ONLY SHE CAN MAKE CERTAIN DECISIONS BUT SHE IS NEVER THERE. And Being put to the side like they don't care of my Buisness or the well being of my son, it's very clear to me that this is very understandable. Or they run this place like they don't care, or they don't want my Buisness because my son has a condition or last in which I spoke to severa people about this and they advice me that these place DO NOT LIKE LATIN/SPANISH COSTUMERS. I will never go to this please again and will post these review in different web pages for people acknowledge what goes on in this place. And the people that's in charge over all of this facility will make future changes necessary to assure the proper authority personnel that makes decision is away available from time of opening to time of closing, and change the way they conduct Buisness with FUTURE COSTUMERS...!! My daughter went this KinderCare location for five straight years - from 8 weeks old until she went to kindergarten. We were so happy with the Charter Lane team, that we enrolled her once more for the Summer Program between her kindergarten and first grade year. And after a great first year at school, she was still very excited to see all her old teachers and friends at KinderCare! We have gotten to know more than eight of the teachers, Cindy the cook, and a handful of center directors in all that time, and they all truly have made us feel like family. From the warm welcomes and greetings you get in the morning to the conversations you have with the teachers at the end of the day, I've always felt my daughter was safe, nurtured, and happy there. When we leave, she has a tendency to stop and say goodbye to teachers who aren't hers and at the front office to hug Jill and Laura - who are never too busy to return her hugs, answer her questions, or just share a laugh. To me, there's no better endorsement than that. There are about eight rooms in the center, each one set up by age group. Sometimes in the morning, or at the end of the day, the age groups might mingle in the same room, but I was thankful that my daughter spent the vast majority of her day with peers. The week's program is posted at the doorway, so you'll always know what the lessons are focusing on, even for the infants and toddlers. The younger rooms focus a lot on sensory experiences - they take the kids for walks outside, let them explore different textures, and introduce them to music. As the children grow, there's a little more structure in the day, but still a good balance of creative play time, math and science concepts, and reading. This variety gave my daughter a real leg up when she hit kindergarten - she was already very familiar with most of the subjects they studied, and her kindergarten teacher was impressed with her proficiency in reading, writing, and math. There are a lot of additional special programs that are offered for a fee - I'm not sure what the prices are like now, but we always found the cost to be more than worth it. My daughter enjoyed Cooking Adventures (led by the center's cook), a math series, music and movement, and a sporting program called Soccer Shots. I don't recall whether languages was ever formally offered, but I encouraged any of the teachers to speak to her in a different language - I don't speak enough Spanish at home for her to get fluent just by listening, but she recognizes many words and at least has an ear for it. As a busy working parent, I was also always especially thankful for the communications at this center. There are "daily communication" notes that go into your child's cubby at the end of the day - it will tell you not just what was for lunch, but also how much and what your child ate, as well as information about how much sleep/rest your child got, and highlights from the day's activities. It isn't uncommon to get a personal note from the teacher, too - just a sentence or two, normally, but it would let me know if my daughter was having trouble playing with others that day, if she showed a lot of interest in a book or game, or anything else that was special or different about her day. The daily communications weren't a part of the Summer Program, and I've missed it greatly. The great communication continues with other things going on at the center, too - whenever a child or a room came down with a simple stomach bug or something more serious, notes were posted at the entrance to the center and at the doors of each room. Whenever there was something serious going around, letters were sent home and the staff was always on hand to answer questions about what was going on and what they were doing to prevent things from spreading. There were two cases of lice and one case of foot-in-mouth disease that I can recall, and each incident was handled very professionally. And whenever my daughter had a fever or stomach issues, her teachers would monitor things and give me a call to pick her up once she hit a certain temp. The facility is well kept and clean. The rooms don't always smell great by the end of the day - particularly the infant and toddler rooms in the summer - but that's to be expected with all the diapers. The staff definitely keeps up with sanitizing and cleaning. There isn't much parking out front, but there is over-flow parking in the lot immediately adjacent to the center. During morning drop-offs and pick-ups, cars typically park at the curb right outside the door and come and go at a decent pace, so you're never left walking far in bad weather. They're also very good about keeping the front of the building clear during the winter months. I can't say enough good things about this center or the people who work there. And, more importantly, neither can my daughter. We're two very happy customers. read more

I can not say enough good things about KinderCare at Charter Lane. The staff always had a friendly smile and greeting when we walked in for the morning. Whenever we would be leaving at the end of the day, there was always a 'see you tomorrow!". Miss Meredith and Miss Jackie were the 2 teachers I had daily interaction with, and they were fantastic. The classwork was interesting and kept my daughter engaged. They had fun but were still learning at the same time. They challenged her and she really looked forward to going every day. The facility was always clean and the staff made sure to clean the play areas and toys that the children were using to prevent extra germ sharing. The school is only accesible by using a code at the front door, and that makes it easy for parents to come and go but tough for strangers to get in. That's a great thing! Any time there was even a slight injury, we received a notice letting us know. They were really on top of things! When my daughter got bumped in the face by another child, the 'treatment' was a hug and some ice. A hug! To a 5 year old, that's the best treatment there is and they weren't afraid to comfort them when they were hurt. It's time to move onto Kindergarten now, but I would not hesitate to recommend KinderCare to other families. I'm sad that she's my youngest and we will no longer be at KinderCare. I can only hope that her future teachers and staff are as great as the ones we found on Charter Lane. read more
