I dropped by the Chase Bank in La Mesa yesterday because it was 'on my way' home but this bank is probably the poorest constructed piece of architecture there ever was. I heartily agree with Jeff B. who left an excellent review on Jun 1, 2024. There is NO drive-thru ATM. There are at least three ATMs indoors which are positioned in such as way as to look like you can scan your debit card to open the doors to access them and still not be inside the actual bank BUT you cannot access the ATMs. The ATM on other side of the building was non-functional meaning it was just a blank screen. While I was there, 3 people walked up to try and use it. This ATM is not conveniently located. In order to access it, you have to park either in the parking lot which is huge or park on the street at a metered location. My advice? If you are a Chase customer, go to a different location to do your business. There are still branches out there that have drive-thru. read more

Honesty, loyalty, respect, customer service, and many more issues they long had. They stolen my daughter's money just cause there was no activity on her account. Not fair for them to just seized money cause it takes you (kid) long time to use account. Not fair i highly recommend everyone to not chase their money and close accounts. This is a brand new bank that was built after the previous one was burned to the ground by rioters in 2020. It was one of several structures in the area that were vandalized. There is NO drive-thru ATM. There are at least three ATMs indoors but no access to them when it's not "business hours". The only available ATM is on the north street side and is not easily accessible. The old Chase had a drive-thru ATM and was a larger bank overall. How it took them OVER two years to rebuild this bank and then make it LESS user/client friendly, I do not know. It's a mystery. We are "private clients" and this new location is much less convenient than the old one was. I consider it a hassle to go to this location. Whoever designed it should be fired and someone in charge should add a second ATM outside AND add a drive-thru ATM! There is PLENTY of space for it. read more

They've been fine, up until today. I had a financial document I needed notarized. I called the branch number and spoke to someone. She said I did not need a notary appointment and could just come in. I came into the branch 20 minutes later and they told me they didn't have a notary there. Then, who I assume was a supervisor, got really rude and told me they don't notarize non-chase documents anyway. I was blown away. I have had MANY non-chase documents notarized, for free, at Chase branches in San Diego. When I told her this, she said it's up to the branch if they want to notarize non-Chase documents. So, this branch is choosing not to help their customers. I am so disappointed in the service I received today. read more

Fast & friendly service! I am so glad I switched bank & joined chase. I have not been dissapointed yet. They even give you temporary checks for $3 for 4 checks. I guess they are one of the few banks to understand no one buys checks anymore & may need 1 or 2 every once in a while. Love this bank & it's not too far from my house..bonus read more

After hearing all about calling your mortgage company for help with your monthly payments during this crises, I walked in to this branch to find some solution. My loan is in good standing and since I am without work right now, it would be wonderful to be know that Chase could defer my payments till I resume back to work. No one was available to physically help, and a phone number was given for me to call. NO LUCK THERE I had to go online and all I can see is to call another number and go online for no help at all. The holding time yesterday was 29 hours, yes 29. Today they just hang up on you after holding for 10 minutes. Come on Chase. My neighbor went to her credit union and someone was there to help her fill out the forms and it was resolved right there and then. read more

Called in the morning to schedule a meeting with a business banker, the automated phone message said no one was available in the branch and to call back or press 1 to speak to a phone banker. To accomplish what I needed, I would have to speak with someone at the branch. I called back a couple times finally at 11:15AM someone answered. I explained that I have been calling and needed to schedule a meeting in the 12 Noon slot so I could do it on my lunch. The woman who finally answered the phone spoke in a manner that was difficult to understand, I believe she said she was not able to schedule the bankers and they would have to call me back. I left my number with her explaining that I needed a call back relatively quickly as I have been trying since 9am this morning.... A banker never called me back. I don't know why people don't rate banks. Oh yeah, probably because will be the most boring review ever written. Well here we go: I went in a few days last week to deposit some checks from work. I didn't fill out my deposit slip because I'm a lazy human being. The teller was nice and did it without complaining and didn't make me feel bad(+1star!). She asked me if I could hook her up with a job at my company(when she noticed my pay check). I told her that I'm a supervisor and not a recruiter but to put my name down as a referral(if she gets hired I get $500 wooo). Wasn't that exciting!?!?! read more

Went to open a business checking / savings account a few days ago and had such a wonderful experience. Danielle K was amazing! I really felt so well taken care of. I could tell she really wanted to set me up so I was able to use everything offered including using the App. As a mom to a newborn baby I can tell you that was greatly appreciated. The last bank I was at just gave me instructions on how to set things up myself but Danielle walked me through it at the branch. It was soooo nice!!! What a pleasant surprise. Perhaps it had to do with my first good sized paycheck or the fact that its Thanksgiving weekend and everyone is excited about grubbing down on some turkey tomorrow, but the staff inside was EXTREMELY friendly. Just came from there. I've been a business customer for over a dozen years and had a simple question about my account. The teller could not answer the question and told me to wait in the lobby for someone to help me. I asked the teller if I needed to sign in and she said there was no sign in sheet, so I sat in a chair for about 5 minutes before the branch manager (I think; bearded guy in his 30s) came to speak to me. I was next, he told me. In my 15-minute wait two other people sat down to wait for the next banker. The banker I was waiting for took someone ahead of me. Huh? I guess this is why a sign-up sheet would be a good idea. I couldn't wait any longer, so I got up to leave quietly. The branch manager followed me to the door like a little puppy, making excuses I didn't care to hear about why they took someone ahead of me. I didn't even turn around, but I did hear his somewhat insincere "Have a nice day." Instead of playing lobby director and not doing a very good job of it, how about taking a bit of the customer overflow? All I had was one question and was willing to wait my turn. I won't be coming back to such a badly run place. That's two strikes already with Chase. There are other banks. I have no loyalty to you. read more

There was a time when employees stayed a jobs for years and knew your name and face, which was what this WAMU was at one time. Service is now just OK but impersonal, and rate have plummeted since Chase took over. Free checking for life is nice, but I don't have much need for them anymore. read more

No longer WaMu, but Chase bank instead. We had our previous mortgage with this bank as well as some $20k in checkings&savings. Since 2010 the quality has really plummeted. Some of the issues we have run into: - Online access to my bank account stopped working for 2 weeks. I called their customer support who was unable to do anything. They ignored subsequent emails. Fortunately the glitch got resolved eventually. - Reluctant to process international money orders. I understand it's a security measure but I am not one to fall for Nigerian scammers. Dear tellers, please do your job without dragging your feet. - Applying for a second mortgage with perfect credit score and all the paperwork in order should be great for a banker. However, the lady there was severely overworked, did not get her files in order and eventually asked for a $400 processing fee upfront before making a decision. No thanks. - The business account has less than $1000 daily balance so Chase would like to charge monthly fees. Really ?
