For the most part they never have anyone on the phone or by their desks. I don't know why they do t get up to help. Usually two tellers.. It's ridiculous. I took out all my money from Chase to come here. Rare I have a good experience. Smh Update: This place is doing way better after the much needed remodel. It is not often that I need to actually enter my bank, which isn't a bank at all, it is a credit union. Mission Federal Credit Union. On the occasion that I do need to visit, which I did recently, it is always a pleasant experience. I mean, as pleasant as going to the bank can be. The tellers (are we still calling them that?) are always so polite and friendly. They are extremely efficient too. Even when there is a line it moves quickly. They get you in and out in a hurry withiout making you feel rushed. And they do it with a friendly demaenor and always a smile. read more

Standing in line to open an account. A guy walked past us and cut in line. We waited patiently for him to finish up and then the girl told us she had an appointment at 2:45 so she couldn't help us. Mission Fed did an excellent job of reminding me exactly why I left traditional banks for online banking. I opened an account thinking it would be nice to have a local account to put my inheritance in since I would like to use it as a down payment on a house someday, & that relationship might be helpful in getting a homeloan. So I open the moneymarket account despite it giving literally 1/10 of the interest that I get on my Ally savings acct, it's all the usual annoyances, give us a physical copy of this bill to prove you live here despite the fact that you've already submitted it online etc. So they put a 7 business day hold my deposit, which I guess is whatever not that big a deal, it's possible any bank would've done that. I noticed in the mean time that their app is terrible, buggy & mostly just links to their website, which doesn't display well on mobile. When my account clears, I find out that they're holding me hostage for 90 days in an account w/ no atm card, no checks, & I'm not allowed to make transfers for 90 days because they've arbitrarily decided so without notifying me. So now I have a large sum of money in there & my only access to it is to go into a branch & pull out cash. When I called on the phone to fix it the ONLY solution they offered was to open more accounts with them (which is a great idea since they're already being dicks) or to close the account at which point I could transfer out the balance, since the 90 day hold on transfers is not something real or legal, just a f-u from a bank that doesn't care about your business. So I closed my account, & put the money in Ally, who I've had minimal if any problems with for 6 years. Of course to top all this off they charged me a $25 go-f-yourself fee for closing out the account & transferring out the money. Thanks for nothing. Needed to do an expensive plumbing job at our house, so we decided to get a 1st mortgage (house has been paid off for years) to pay it off. Went with Mission Fed because they had the best rates at the time. We set up (1) payment a month to come out of my checking account & (1) payment a month to be paid via check by my husband, this way we'd be paying down interest & principal. It's been a year, and they have screwed up the auto-pay 4x now. Each time I call, I'm told the payment was already made. I then have to yet again explain that we are making (2) payments a month. It's unbelievable that ANY bank would cancel the auto pay you set up. I have now canx'd them being in charge of the auto pay, and I will set it up through my own bank. This way I know it will be handled correctly. read more

I love my Mission Federal Credit Unions strategically scattered around town with enough co-op ATM's that will not leaving paying fees with your own hard earned money. I stopped in this location to withdraw some cash. The place was well kept and more spacious than some of the other offices I have visited. Their staff, as usual, was very friendly and helpful. They definitely here to serve the community not their own pocket books. As for Mission Federal Credit Unions goes, anyone now can join a reek their benefits, like excellent car loan rates, and competitive mortgage rates, but most importantly, they make you feel like you matter. read more

Wanted to refinance my Car loan, spoke with a rep. about what it would take and went through all the paperwork to open an account thinking it would be easy to do business with these people. I went online to have half of my paycheck directly deposited into my new account but was never able to finish the process because I kept having to reset my password, continually being locked out of the verification process of setting up direct deposit account for not being able to verify my account, speaking on the phone with service reps that couldn't help and on and on. Eventually my initial deposit was gobbled up with fees from not having my statement electronically sent to me, but I never got into my account in the first place. I had to pay 7 dollars to close the account because of the fees. Like a catch 22 from dealing with Gangsters. read more

I've been a member at Mission Fed for about 15 years with no major complaints nor issues. However, my husband and I were denied a loan (small) today, even with a perfect 2018 car title as collateral, even with perfect credit payment history, even with consistent direct deposits from both my husband and I over the years, even with a longstanding credit card with MFCU that I've never missed a payment on, and even as we consistently carry a positive balance in our account. All bills are paid early and we never miss one, and it has been this way for YEARS. Aside from being denied, upon applying for the loan, we were talked to as if we were completely unworthy of any type of loan, and terms were explained to us like were children. In addition to all of that, the woman we worked with misread our credit report, citing NONEXISTENT issues! I'm very on top of our credit, so it was a surprise, and also STRESSFUL to hear of the "derogatory marks," and of course as soon as we got home, I checked the report, and sure enough, all was as it should be, and the rep was incorrect. That's a very BIG deal. In any case, being denied the loan was not the issue today - this is about loyalty, customer service, and efficiency with money. Since this is what it means to them, we will absolutely be moving on to another financial institution. read more

I've been banking with them since I was 16 and they've now financed two cars for me:) I went to visit Chi at the Santee branch, I had just purchased a car and my interest was 6.9 through the dealership financing! Chi informed me that the interest was way too high and she told me she could get it down to 1.8! And if that wasn't enough she told me all of the extra coverage I bought was unnecessary, saving me around $1,000! She extended my payment to a 6 year plan and got my monthly payments down $100! I didn't mind waiting in line. But I didn't realize I had to go sign the clipboard to replace my credit card and wait elsewhere. The woman at the desk didn't seem to know what apple pay was either. So I wait at least another 25 min and nothing. No one got back to me with an estimate on the wait when they were supposed to give me one. Then I was told it would be a few more min. I ended up calling the 800 number and was taken care of in a few min. They are more helpful then the bank tellers at this branch. Very disappointed in the time I wasted there. Recently opened an account here and NEVER once was I told that it will take 10 DAYS to deposit my check if I deposited in the atm( mind you this is my first time ever opening a bank account, so you would think they would give me as much info as possible). She told me that the branch would have the cash available and that she would alert her staff that I would be coming in the next day.
