The strange part was simply the customer service attitude they took. It felt more like I was in a Starbucks or Nordstrom than a bank. The entire staff learned my name on day 1 and has remembered ever since - and I am far from loaded. The customer service this bank is better than anything I have ever witnessed at a financial institution. The rates are wonderful too. We are making 2% APY on our checking account, and with CD's around 1%, thats absolutely incredible! That is unheard of and also with no minimum balance. This bank is far superior and I highly recommend to everyone. I used to dread going inside my bank and would just use ATMs at all costs. I now enjoy and prefer to go inside the branch to do my transactions. In fact the other day I chose to wait to deposit a check after hours so I could go inside and speak with my new friends at Umpqua. I have always believed that a Credit Union would have both better service, and better rates than a "bank." Turns out I was wrong because Umpqua beat out my previous credit union hands down in every aspect!

I have been with Umpqua for over ten years. Umpqua has been a thorn in my finances. They limited my…read moredown payment for a new car, even though I had more than enough money to buy the car out right. When I needed a loan for a property, it took them over a month to even contact me (I contacted them in person and by phone multiple times). It took another financial institution less than three days to approve me for the loan. I spent hours trying to setup a payee for a bill pay. Part of that time was waiting on the phone for 40 minutes until I hung up. The final straw was when two of my checks, with Umpqua logo on them, bounced. I had way more than sufficient funds to cover the checks. I tried to get Umpqua to cover the cost of $30 and they said the checks are not associated with one of your accounts. I am wondering why they gave me the checks in the first place. I feel like checks given by a bank should not expire. Apparently I am not worth more than $30 as a customer. The teller at Umpqua in Lincoln said, "looks like you will just have to eat the $30."

Our son was in Canada for a wedding when he became stranded at the airport because the rental car company's security deposit exceeded his credit card limit. He had no family or friends nearby, and we were trying to help him from home. We first contacted Radha earlier that afternoon, while our son was also working with SAFE's loan department. After nearly three stressful hours at the airport, we reached out to Radha again shortly before the branch closed. Rather than simply telling us it would have to wait until the next business day, Radha kept trying. With only minutes before closing, she helped get his credit line increase approved and personally reached out to someone who could get it processed immediately. Within minutes, our son was finally able to get his rental car. What touched us most was Radha's genuine concern and persistence. She treated our son as though she were helping someone in her own family and did everything she could to make sure he was taken care of. We are so thankful to Radha and SAFE's loan department for helping our son through such a stressful situation. This is the kind of customer service you never forget. All of the insurance checks were written to myself and the bank. The shared account was run perfectly smooth. We had to provide documentation on costs to get disbursements and they paid punctually and with little pushback. It was actually a lot easier to handle the reconstruction than I thought- and b of a managing our withdrawals added to the process in a positive manner. George was the branch manager at the time and he was fantastic!

I was always successful elsewhere in securing ing those loans. I mostly used this account to store money. Eventually, i encouraged all my kids to open accounts here. My son and I went in to get a car loan. His first one. The hey approved a used car loan. Told us the year and amount we could look for. They DID NOT mention they only FUND 80% of the blue book value. I have bought many used cars and that was a first for me. That info would have been very helpful in the used car market. The Lincoln Branch has never been good with information. I closed my accounts and had all 3 of my kids move to Sierra Central. I am sure a lot of people like Golden 1 but sadly after 30 years, i left.

Opened an account when it was BBVA. Was forced to open a checking account when we opened a Money…read moremarket account. Accounts were linked & there wasn't a service charge. PNC took over, We were required to link the accounts to avoid service charge. Called PNC & was assured that money market account had large enough balance & was linked. Called PNC again in Jan 2023 when service charge emptied checking account, manager said he would fix things. He called the next day & said it was fixed. Received statement in April and was charged service fee again. PNC is a lousy bank. Closed the Money Market & am moving cash to a new bank that pays 4.5% interest instead of PNC's 1.5% interest.
