I had a very strange and unpleasant experience with a teller, whose name I have been unable to acquire, but who I met at the entrance to the bank, where he was talking to the guard stationed there. They both greeted me and nicely asked me what brought me to the bank that day. I smiled and replied that my mission was simply to pick up a check register, or two. The teller, then brusquely told me that they were out of stock and didn't expect to get any more in. The guard chimed in to say that Amazon sells them inexpensively. I politely asked if there was perhaps at least - one - errant booklet lying around that they could possibly find for me and the guard offered to ask the mgr. Well, as I had hoped, there were a few booklets that the mgr. then put in one of the little drawers below their tall workspace tables. I began to enter the bank to retrieve one and was barred by the previously mentioned teller, who said: "No, stand right here and I'll get you one, so you won't take more than that." I was flabbergasted by his rude statement. I took the booklet when he returned with it, went home and thought about what I had just been subjected to. Then I decided to call the branch and report the incident to the mgr., there, Kim. Instead of being mortified by the treatment I had received and contrite about the situation she argued with me and said that I must have been mistaken, because that teller would never have behaved in such a manner. She then called me by a name - other than my own - and told me, essentially, that I was making a mountain out of a molehill. Her argumentative and antagonistic conduct only served to compound the problem and so realizing that Kim was not going to handle the circumstances appropriately I simply hung up the phone at that point. As a result I'm naturally uncomfortable going back to that branch and have vowed never to do so. read more

I only recently started to go to this Chase branch, and my experience with my banker, Bonita, has been nothing short of phenomenal. Bonita made time for me on busy days and went above and beyond to help with a difficult situation. She followed up with me regularly by phone and was in short, incredible. This is for the ATMs at this location. I don't know what in the homemade hell is happening here, but it's been going on for a few years and they won't fix it. The main ATM (outside, in the parking lot) is so slow and rarely, works. It is also the only ATM where I have had the experience of a deposit being taken and not credited. So I had to go through a whole process of filing a complaint, waiting for the hard count of money in the machine and days before they credited my (cash) deposit. Their ATMs are so slow I once had an Uber waiting for me and I racked up another $7 in "waiting" fees. That's how slow this is. And I can pretty much guarantee you it will not take your deposit. Check, cash... it does not matter. So just go during working hours if you can and go inside. Or go to another branch. I recommend the one on LaBrea... great ATMs. The folks inside are fine. The ATMs outside are horrible. Don't waste your time. And never ever go there if you have a ride on the clock. It's like these things are using dial-up AOL. read more

WORST BRANCH IN CALIFORNIA This bank was lovely when it first opened over 10 years ago. Unfortunately they have gone down hill. Im a senior citizen and they treat me very disrespectful I and so over this bank! I literally have 7 accounts with them from saving to checking etc and they have no idea how to treat customers with respect! I go inside with my 85 year old pops Marine Veteran etc and his coins. They have about 10 quote "supervisors" mulling about and roaming around doing nothing but aggravating customers as only "one teller' thats working her butt off can help anyone. Apparently if you're not dressed a certain way and look a certain way they do not want anything to do with you! This is not for this branch, but Chase in general. I've only had good experiences going into the branch. The hours aren't great, so I do a lot online, but the people have always been helpful and friendly to me. If you're looking for a new bank, I'd stay away from Chase. I deposited a check through the app last week, and they put it on hold for two business days. The check was from a company with a business account at Chase, which is what frustrated me. A Chase to Chase business check is now taking 5 days to clear bc of the weekend. When I called in, they said they couldn't help me. Also, I didn't get access to any of the funds. They used to make some of a held check available immediately (like $100 - $200), but I apparently changed that policy. So my account got overdrawn and will get charged Chase's fee. I've had this account for over 10 years, not the first time I've been annoyed by an experience, but the lowest point. I've kept my checking here bc it's nice to have this local branch close, if I need to go in. At this point, that's not enough reason to stay and transferring my checking account to my other bank. read more

I went to the branch on Sunset and Orange Grove on 11/15 to open a CD account. They opened the account but refused to give me a receipt with the maturity date, interest rate, and account number. I asked to have my money back because if anything happens to me, my family wouldn't even know that the bank has my money. They said they can't do that. I called Chase and they said to call back on Monday to close the account, and today is Monday and they told me to wait another 5 days. They come up with new rules in their favor. Be aware when opening accounts with Chase. You won't get any documents or your money back. read more

Unlike other chase banks that I usually go to, there's no deposit slips available for customers to fill out before they go up to the teller. So I had to wait in line to ask for a slip, stepped aside again to fill it out, then back to the teller. Also, Unlike the chase I go to on fairfax and Beverly Blvd, The staff here is not as nice and just stare at you. Very minimal customer service. I don't know what to say without sounding like a crazy person. The Chase credit card people which I now know are completely different entity than the bank, had always been so nice to me that I decided to open a checking account with the branch on sunset. I deposited three checks totaling $8,000 and had a direct deposit set up to go to my new account. Everything seems to go fine when I set up the account. Two weeks later I tried to say some cash out of the ATM and it would not work. I called them up and they immediately accused me of fraud saying my three checks were fraudulent and I have to cut this short but it took 8 months and two telephone calls to the FBI who took me very seriously and I called them because being an FDIC insured account, it was a federal issue. I was ready to set up a folding chair in the lobby and not move until I got my cash back. I was out of my mind. After my second call to the FBI I suddenly got a call from some freaking a-hole in New York who is crying like a baby and wanted to verify my address. He kept leaving phone messages and I kept calling him back saying f you and all the sudden I got a check for $22,000 which was the amount I deposited plus the direct deposit amounts that we're sitting in my inaccessible account. What MF u c k ee r s. What a big mistake I made by leaving B of A across the street which had been nothing but perfect. I wanted to give Chase my business because the Chase credit card people were so nice to me and I got stabbed in the back. I used to work for a bank and I know the routine and that's why I call the FBI and this is starting to sound crazy so I just have to stop voice dictating. Sorry for any errors. If I could give 0 stars I would. I came in for a standard wire transfer, they told me they just had to help the person in front of me and I would be next. AN HOUR LATER they come out to talk to me and tell me they now have to handle the line. Mind you, when I came in there was no line, but after 45 minutes a long line had accumulated so they decided to help those people that just walked in instead of me who had been waiting for over an hour. ??? It's not just this branch... although this branch is terrible. Chase Bank as a whole is so big that no one in any department understands how any of the other departments work. What's more, Chase put me into an incredibly expensive monthly fee account despite me telling them that my needs were only basic, and my main interest was avoiding fees. So they put me in an account that charges $100/mo. The branch manager refunded some of the fees, but opened an escalations case for the rest. Problem is, she opened it with a department that can't reverse fees. The rep with that department told me that he had told her that directly by phone, and yet the manager never called me to tell me she had made a mistake, and never did anything else to address the problem. I guess she just shrugged and thought she was done. The banker who opened my business accounts is gone, and Chase says since he left they can't talk to him. The banker that opened my personal accounts... who told me he would be my point person for handling problems... quit also. I could go on and on and on, but what's the point? Bottom line: go ahead an open an account here, but don't expect them to tell you the truth, don't expect them to help if there are problems, and don't expect ANYTHING to be easy. Expect to have to get transferred from department to department and in the end never be able to find anyone able of willing to fix any problems that may come up. read more

This is a great venue, I've dealt with these people on numerous occasions. The staff has been accommodating and have dealt with any matter with empathy. In this climate that we're dealing with, I'm saddened that people need to be negative in any capacity. Mike Perez has the worst attitude he is the Branch Manager. I took two checks in to deposit today . He was the teller. He asked what account I wanted to put the check into I said the number by my indorsemtn is the correct account my checking (Dah) My check went through but when I gave him my sister's he said it was already deposited therefore could not be again. NO it came in the mail yesterdayI asked to speak to the branch manager he said he was the Branch manager. Another teller came over and fixed it and the check went trough. I asked Mike teller/manager what went wrong, he wouldn't give me a clear answer, I said I want to know,. He said I as trouble at the Pavilion branch he was manger there. NO his teller there took both checks and tried to deposit the same check twice I was very nice about it. I said take out the deposit I and start again. It worked this was their mistake and to day was their mistake doing todays interactions Mike the Manager was inappropriate I nasty, arrogant, rude, chauvinistic unkind power trip attitude He said if you don't like it I an take your check out and you can go somewhere else. I am a customer of Chase not yours you have an un acceptable attitude towards me. This worked because another teller helped him. The manager whose name is Kim Mc(something - my bad for not memorizing it) was probably the worst "professional" I had ever interacted with at the bank. This will be my longest Yelp review. Let me tell you, I absolutely hate giving any business 1 star corporate or private. Doesn't matter. In my mind nothing is perfect and there is always room for improvement anywhere so I don't really take anything too personal. But what this person made me go through was a disgrace, shame and an absolute nightmare. No one should ever be treated the way I was treated. The worst part is that there is not much I can do to escalate this. Its important to note, its been over a month or 2 since the incident happened. I am not writing this review out of anger or just to vent. I feel like it is my civil obligation and my right to make it known to the public if this happened to me it can happen to anyone. I was still able to use the chip but could no longer swipe my debit card, so I requested a new card via Chase app. Its been around 6 business days but I haven't yet received my new card. Since I was able to use the chip I wasn't too concerned about the delivery time of my new card. Until the day when I could not pay for groceries at the supermarket. Chase just blocked my card out of the blue when I tried to use it at the supermarket. So I immediately called customer service and was told that they have my new card information and that my old card has been closed. How is it possible for Chase to close my current card if I haven't received and activated my new card? I had to go to Chase brunch since I couldn't get any clarity over the phone. The agent at the brunch agreed that it's weird my new card got activated on its own without me physically receiving it in the mail. So he called someone to try to get answers. He was very apologetic and he understood how inconvenient the situation was for me. Since my card was blocked I couldn't even take cash out so he offered to get me a temporary ATM card. I of course agreed but I wanted to talk to the manager to get some sort of explanation and professional opinion about the situation and at least understand why my new card got activated without me ever activating or receiving it. So she showed up and said it got activated via my iPhone apple wallet. I said it makes no sense because I never received an actual card and that I don't even use apple wallet unless Im ordering online. She was extremely rude and said all businesses are now switching to Apple Pay and that this is the new way of activation of all new debit cards. Umm what? So according to her statement, your new card can be activated on its own without you physically having it. Safe and secure isn't it? That is a new norm according to the manager. So I kindly told her, I just came from the most popular supermarket in LA and they do NOT accept Apple Pay. So as the gas station and the bagel place I went to earlier in the morning. I know some places do accept it but none of the places I usually go to, accept Apple Pay. But my main point is how could it get activated without me actually activating it myself. I tried to explain to her that I have never used an app in actual stores and that I'm worried about the safety of my account. She started arguing with me, raising her voice and acting like an immature who cant handle herself in front of a customer who is looking for help and answers to pretty reasonable questions. She then noticed, the agent had an ATM card ready for me. She tells him: "she is not allowed to have an ATM card because she opened her account in New York". Can you believe it? She said I can use their Apple Pay machine to take the cash out but guess what. IT DID NOT WORK. Me and the agent tried several times to use the Apple Pay to withdraw cash while the manager has left without trying to help resolve this issue. She was clearly ignoring our struggle with an Apple Pay and she was demonstratively pretending she is busy assisting other customers... At that point I had tears in my eyes... I was left with no access to my own money. I could not withdraw cash since my card was blocked, I was left without an option of getting an ATM card because I opened my account in NY even though I was using the Sunset blvd brunch for the last several years. And the Apple Pay system the manager was keep praising and talking about could not read my apple wallet...It all happed in my own bank. It all happened in front of the person who is carrying a title of a manager whose job should be to make sure the client leaves with questions answered, not with more questions and tears. I was humiliated, disrespected and economically discriminated. She saw the funds in my account weren't high enough for her to give me the time of her day. I really hope the agent who was trying to help me will take her place and becomes a manager. Because this woman should never be a manager at the bank and work with people. read more

Unprofessional, and absolutely unwilling to actually L-I-S-T-E-N. I work three jobs just to make ends meet and was exhausted when I wrote a check to my significant other, who also banks at Chase. I assumed it would be an easy transaction, but when he went to deposit the check they placed a 10 day hold on it. This felt weird, so I called, "Why would you place a hold on a check FROM a Chase account INTO a Chase account?" They maintained, a 10 day hold it must be. I was so confused, but thought that it might be because I don't write many checks? I called several times because I couldn't see anything happening on my account. No answers. As it turns out, in my exhaustion, I had accidentally written a check from my old closed account at another bank; both banks gave me blue checks, I didn't even notice. Instead of someone simply saying, "This isn't a check from Chase." They made it a giant issue and acted like I was trying to get information on an account I'm not on. At one point, a condescending a$$ hole actually said to me "Checks can be hard." Seriously?!?! No they are not, just tell me what the check looks like! All of this could have been avoided if ANY of the people I spoken to had simply listened to what I was saying. With an organization as large as Chase, it would be understandable to assume that the customer service and care that you receive at one branch is bound to be the same that you would receive at any other. I realize now that this assumption is far from accurate. I recently required some emergency banking assistance from Chase, and I needed it done in a branch (this Sunset Blvd branch) that I had never set foot in before. Despite not having an existing relationship with the staff I felt instantly recognized as a valued customer. Furthermore, the staff -- with special nod to ace banker Kim McLeod -- worked together as a team to help put out my fire and get me on my way in a hurry. This is much more than I would expect from the always-on-it Chase branch locations that I typically frequent. I asked for A single business check voided, so I could have my printer of choice make up new business checks. "Sir, there is a $2 fee and I can't override this charge" "Really?" " I have about $200k in your bank and may be doubling that and you want to charge me 2 bucks for a piece of paper that costs you nothing?" this is regarding Chase credit cards. Navigating their site is useless. The instructions given on teh site indicate you can see recent charges via a title called "showing". There is no such title. You can only contact them by phone. No link comes up to "contact us". I cannot find recent charges until I get a statement. I am dissatisfied with their services and find them non-responsive. read more

Received the WORST customer service from Kim and Samantha. Walked in to cash my payroll check and was treated like a peasant and they denied even cashing my checks . INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE! I was CHASED by the CHASE manager to the streets!!! 15 minutes before: After a transaction with a teller from this branch and asking him whom to go with for opening a checking account,  he pointed out at a lady who happened to be the Branch Manager by the name Kim. She told me to go to a cubicle and to wait for her after doing some sanitizing of the site. I thought great, what a great service, but not! I was wrong, unfortunately! After entering the cubicle that is when the nightmare began... After sitting down and introducing myself, the first thing she asked me was if I was a US Citizen? I said yes, and then she requested a proof of that... She said that she would not give me any information if I couldn't show her my legal status... All of a sudden I thought I was at the Immigration office... My natural response was... excuse me? What? Why? Her patience was getting poorer when I responded that I just had my CA Driver's License presented to the teller when I cashed a CC transaction... And then her patience went off. She started getting louder and louder, explaining me that she was a lawyer and whatever she was doing was legal,  and there was not stop for her legal speech. It was more a lecturing lesson instead of a "welcome, thank you for choosing Chase bank. We would need 2 types of ID, maybe...?  But not, she was rude in extreme and unnecessary harmful... even saying that I was the one with the problem because my eardrums were very sensitive, after asking her to lower her tone! I hope I hadn't say it though, because things got uglier, she started to yell at me and I responded on the same tone she was already yelling at me... She escorted me out not before telling me with all her powerful full-air lungs that I was not welcome at her branch, that I would never had to return to her bank!! Really? All customers and staff members got amazed and disturbed by her manners and I would say ever scared! She even 'CHASED' me to the parking lot. Only when I took my phone to record her, and me being on the street, that is when she stopped. It was REALLY scary!! She even had to apologize to all Chase customers at the branch because of the ugly, ugly, ugly scene on her way out behind my back. It is clear that she just wanted to hide her bad temperament and her anger problem, by blaming me for what? What did I do wrong? What?? I just really hope Chase handles an investigation and see through its videos the type of anger problem her MANAGER has in this branch. It was not a surprise to see so many reviews in this regard @ the same branch!! Chase has a problem in deed, a real one, with this type of management that contaminates the top to the base of the once friendly branch. At the end, I just walked away, and will choose another financial institution to handle my mortgage (not much, but a mortgage)... This is close to my house so I decided to check it out thinking I might want to open an account there at some point. And I had a check to cash that was from a business with a Chase account. I was really shocked when they charged me $8 to cash a check drawn on their own bank. I decided right then and there I wouldn't be opening up an account at a bank with such outrageous fees. read more

Every single time I am here, they only have 1 teller open so expect to be in there a while. Each customer seems to be at the desk for ages doing inquiries or some thing that is not quick. If there is some one in line, they should do what some supermarkets do and open a second teller temporarily. read more
