My business partner and I went to this location at 12:30 pm Thursday afternoon (yesterday) and we were connected with a tan gentleman in a nice suit to help us open a business account. Pablo I believe it was. We couldn't start the process as I only brought 1 form of ID (apparently having 2 accounts with Chase doesn't speak to my identity). My wallet had been stolen over the weekend so I had to run home and grab another form of ID. We also needed our EIN number. I will fully admit we weren't prepared for this meeting. So we made plans to come back at 1:30 pm to complete the process. Here's the thing though, we are both working professionals, I had to move meetings and work to find that EIN number and get back to Chase, my business partner had her own things to move around to try and make the meeting. I was 30 minutes late to the meeting and I tried apologizing to the tan gentleman over the phone about that. But why does he hang up on me while I'm mid apology? Why is he so short and crass on the phone? When I arrive he says, "should we just reschedule this? You're not being respectful of my time." I'm sorry my business partner was a little behind but we are doing our best while honoring other commitments. I've worked with customers for a lot of my professional life, lie and say you have another meeting. To straight up tell a customer they aren't respecting your time is crazy. I spent an hour driving to and from this location just to be talked down to. Again we were not initially prepared, I fully admit that. But to not even offer to start the application while we wait for my business partner to show up, instead to dismiss us and talk down to me... that would never happen at my home branch in Mission Valley by the Hooters. #loveyall I spoke to a friend who banks at this location and he wasn't surprised by this interaction. I have a business account with chase because my cc payment system uses Chase. I deposited 2 checks written off chase into my chase account for 30k each. Chase put a 4 day hold on the funds! These are from their own bank and funds were verified available by the teller. Was told not even the manager could release the hold. This is the worst bank to deal with. read more

It is a beautiful Saturday morning. As I walk from Hillcrest to the Little Italy Farmers market I stop into this Chase bank to retrieve cash. There was one then two staff behind their bullet proof windows. Only one person in front of me. When it's my turn, I tell teller right away I am there for two things. To retrieve cash and to use the restroom. Since I was on a walk I'm traveling light and do not have my atm card yet my husband's. No biggie, I insert card and my pin. Teller tells me she cannot give me cash for I'm not on the account. After some polite dialogue I tell her I understand and if I could please use the restroom. She told me no, for, "we do not have sufficient staff.... Blah blah, blah, blah. But you can go to Starbucks down the street and use the restroom their...." I am not one to ask for a restroom and unless I need to use the restroom. I am also not one to go into Starbucks and use the restroom for free. Last thing I need was to buy coffee. I went to a local restaurant, let them know I needed to use restroom and I would be back to order. No worries they said. Now that is a professional staff that can think on their feet and assess each situation. Shame on Chase instructing their staff," we do not have sufficient staff.... I usually don't review banks unless they give me really bad service, but after enough awesome trips to this bank I thought it was necessary that I give them 5 stars today. This bank has private parking so my car feels safe when I come here. It's on 5th avenue (near hillcrest) but it's in a location that hardly ever gets super busy... I swear I can't remember a time when I have actually waited at this bank. It's always quiet inside and all of the employees are polite. Best part is they seem to only want to help me with exactly what I ask for... Unlike Wells Fargo where I swear they even try to send employees to speak with me about new accounts even when I'm on the ATM outside. Today, Melina Perez, a personal banker, greeted me quickly because the tellers were busy when I walked in. She promptly helped me with my account issues and even took care of my basic requests so I wouldn't have to head over to the tellers as well. She was very polite and did not push all sorts of other accounts on me. I know this sounds like just a normal visit, but I must say that all I ever want when I go to the bank is a quick transaction and polite bankers, and I always get that here. read more

I really like this branch of Chase. Their staff is actually friendly and helpful, I have never seen more than 1 person in line, and I can always snag a parking spot right out front at a meter. Their ATM is around the corner on Laurel so you have to walk to the end of the block to go there, but they also have a drive-thru ATM off Maple which is a little circular drive under the building. I'm updating my review because the blond ladies are very rude, unwelcoming and can't do their job correctly. I went to one blond lady to retrieve my bank statements for a closed account so I can finish my taxes. At one point, while I was sitting in front of her, she felt the need to get up and get dog treats for a guy who walked in then let his dog jump up on the counter. Is his dog more important then me who is sitting in front of her talking? Service dogs don't jump on counters, and why do people think it's ok to let their pets do what they want in public places? After I got home, I realized I was missing many months so I still could not finish my taxes and it was the weekend so I had to wait to go back in. When I went in the next time, I walked up to her again and told her there were some months missing from the statements that I needed. Her eyes got big then she told me she had to make a phone call and pointed for me to go to a teller. How rude. She's the lady that sits all the way at the lower end of the counter. She didn't want to do her job nor did she apologize for her mistake. You cannot make these kinds of mistakes working at a bank. The teller I walked up to did not have experience with this and she was very rude to me from the get go. First, she asked me for my SS but I told her I was not going to give her my SS out loud. She handed me a sticky note for me to write it on. I told her I'd like the sticky note back once she put it in and she said "Wait, I'm not done logging in yet." She then loudly starts asking me what my SS was. She couldn't make out 1 number so I said it 4 times. She rewrites my social down but with larger numbers then just leaves it there for everyone to see for a solid 10 minutes before giving it to me. Unbelievable!! She started to say my SS out loud. I got irritated. Wouldn't you? Moreover, I repeated myself numerous times...NUMEROUS TIMES...asking for the same months and days but she had a difficult time getting it right. She snapped at me a few times when I told her what I needed after she handed me the wrong dates or incomplete paperwork. I should have been in and out in less then 10 minutes but because a blond millennial teller with a poor attitude was helping, it took about 30 minutes. Any time she made a mistake, she snapped at me and argued with me. I was polite and I can stay calm because I'm not immature like the blond tellers at this bank. A guy came in and she looked at him then said, "Sorry. I'm going to be awhile," There was another teller there, he didn't need to go to her, but she just wanted to be even more rude. I told her we were all important. She ignored that comment still trying to figure out how to print the month of August. Getting her to do her job was a horrendous task but getting her to do it right was nearly impossible. She needs to go back to training or step away from a bank job altogether. The blond leading the blond in there was a total nightmare that I couldn't wait to wake up from. Eventually, she figured out how to print what months and days I needed, but not before turning a simple request into a stressful situation. Seriously, how difficult is it to print bank statements?! Wow! Before I left, I thanked her and apologized for the confusion because she was clearly confused but she didn't say 2 words to me. Nothing! She should have apologized to me for how she treated me and the situation then thanked me for coming in. However, she did not say anything. She needs fired immediately! Do not go to this location under any circumstance even if it's the last one on earth. It's that bad! read more

Best branch ever! After moving to SD 3 years ago from New Orleans, I had used the same bank for forever and had very little money so I had no Idea what to do. Chase answered my wishes with a mailing piece that gave $150 to new accounts. I only had $150 at the time so it doubled my net worth! I have never paid for a checking or savings or business account and I have had ZERO problems with all of my accounts. Not only Chase's infrastructure is to be acknowledged here. Let us never forget that having the best staff ever turns a customer into a long term client. The entire staff here has more than exceeded the customer service expectations of this man. Gary Moore and Keenan Jackson have helped me not just in getting my personal finances in order but also guiding me through my business financials as my entrepreneurship and need for more banking have grown. It takes a lot for me to write a review; but this branch earned this one. When I visited, there was a long line. When at the front of said line, a teller called me to her window. I told her I would like to cash a check, then I signed it and provided two types of ID. After a few moments she handed all documents back and said "Go ahead and wait in line and she'll take care of you", pointing to the next teller. I informed her I was just in line (!!!) - to no avail. Apparently she was helping her co-worker by somehow screening customers. To the back of the line I went. The second teller said she couldn't cash the check without first having me give my phone number so she could send me a text message for security (think about that for a moment). I explained that I already submitted a government ID as well as a Chase credit card and I did not have my phone. I asked if she could instead call the maker - no. Then I asked if the signature matched & the check sequence was normal - yes. But still I was refused. I believe the employees there are paid minimum wage or close to it and consequently not allowed to take initiative. Therefore the policies must be very strict to prevent mistakes by ill-trained, under-educated staff. read more

i've been banking there forever, use to have free checking, now they charge $10.00 per month to have account there. is it worth it?

The absolute worst bank you could ever invest your money. I am an ex Chase member due to ridiculous fees and horrible customer service. To top that off, I went into this particular location to cash a new paycheck from my employer. They are members and asked that I cash my first paycheck there before I set up direct deposit. When I went in the snotty teller told me that it would be $8 for a non-member to cash a paycheck. I told her my employer has a long standing relationship but it didn't matter. I could understand $1 or $3, but $8? Please. THEN I was in a pinch and needed to break a $20 and thought, I'll just try the bank. (I live on the same block) Ms. Attitude was working again and asked me for my member card with a smirk and I told her I wasn't a member and she said she wouldn't break it if I wasn't a member. I said, "For real? This is American currency" and walked away. As I left she yelled as I had my back to her, "I TOLD YOU THAT LAST WEEK!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! She should be fired. There is no excuse to be yelling through a glass booth at anyone if you are in the service industry. The horrible part is that I think she was training someone. Way to go CHASE, you are breeding bad service. I know for a fact Mission Federal will break currency even if you are not a member. I've done it several times at different branches and have never once been asked for a member number or ID. I had to do that for my job and B of A does it every time too. Do yourself a favor. Go to Mission Federal Credit Union. A million times better and friendlier. read more
