When you park to go inside for service there are reminder signs at an easily noticeable height that remind you not to forget to wear a face mask. There is one door designated for entry to the branch. Once you step through that door you will be greeted by an employee sitting on the opposite side of a plastic table who will instruct you to pull your facemask down under your chin and look up at the security camera mounted in the corner overhead. After following that procedure you will be asked to use a pump of hand sanitizer and proceed into the bank for your business. When leaving the bank you will be asked to exit from a different set of doors. I'm quite okay to take these extra steps to insure everyone's safety while taking care of Credit Union business.

My wife and I found a house we liked and put in an offer that was accepted. The purchase and sales agreement required us to lock in financing within 5 days of the date of the contract. I provided the Purchase and Sales agreement to Mr. Williams, who then requested more financial documentation to process the loan. I provided the requested documentation and reached out to Mr. Williams again for status of the loan and next steps. Mr. Williams then informed me that because of my wife's bankruptcy in 2018 (due to chronic illness) that all the paperwork would need to be resubmitted in my name alone and the process would need to start over. By this time, it was 10 days after the sales and purchase agreement was signed, and the sellers would not wait any longer and put the house back on the market. Not only are my wife and I out $425 dollars for a home inspection, but because the home was for sale by an owner who did not want to pay realtor commissions on the sale, we paid the realtor $1000 out of our own pocket for her help. Jaynel Christensen (VP of Lending at Commonwealth Credit Union) has admitted to the mistake of not catching the bankruptcy at the initial application stage and offered to compensate us for the home inspection but not what we paid the realtor, and suggested we ask for that money back from her. I explained that I was uncomfortable with that, because our realtor had worked for the money in good faith, and the payment to her was not part of any contract that she didn't fulfill. The misconduct was on part of Commonwealth Credit Union, not our realtor. I told Ms. Christensen that I would not accept a partial reimbursement and that they still owe my wife and I $1425.

We got established with this bank over twenty years ago when we moved here from California. None of…read morethe major west coast banks existed in this area at that time. Our review of Republic Bank if made back then would have definitely been a five star review. Through the years options have increased as far as banking companies and branches. Instead of a handful of Kentucky Banks all the major Banks appear to have nationwide branches. During the same period of time our pleasure has decreased with the local branch of Republic Bank & Trust. During the last several years there has been a massive turn over in the employees at our local branch. Of course long time employees are going to retire at some point. Additionally some of the younger work force has left for other locations or jobs. Our most recent and ongoing experience has found many new employees are working together that neither value the long established customer nor are they capable at their job. An example of this is when I was depositing a check from my husband's and my joint account into his checking account to cover a bill that he was mailing. Since the check was for $3,000 the teller said there would be a hold placed on it so as to have time to clear. I pointed out the check was from one Republic account to another and that she could look at her computer and confirm that plenty of funds existed. She neither understood what I was saying nor did she care. I turned to the next teller over and asked for her assistance thinking she would understand. I finally had to point out the large savings accounts that exist in our name and asked if I needed to withdraw from one of them to make the deposit clear. Finally a familiar face appeared on the scene and explained the hold policy to the two young tellers. That employee knowing our accounts and history thanked me for our continued business. This past month we received a massive mailing for every account that we hold at Republic informing us of new fees as of April 1. My husband proclaimed "we're done with Republic"! I responded, "no let me go to the bank to confirm the fees do not apply to any of our accounts". I did and I met with one of the bank officers who worked through all the accounts and my questions. I was able to come home and inform my husband that the only accounts affected by the change were my two business accounts. I've saved our accounts at Republic for the time being but can see the hand writing is on the wall that we may soon be changing accounts to Commonwealth Credit Union where we always have been and continue to be satisfied.

I have done banking with Republic for over twenty years but enough is enough. Their hours are reduced. No personal service with drive through. Lucky to have two tellers working. This bank has made drastic changes in the last few years - not the bank I once felt trust in.
