4/22/19 - This was my 3rd time coming to this food truck!!! The other two visits were more than 5-star visits because the food was good, I mean good!!! The prawns and oysters were seasoned and the French fries were superb!!! I don't know what has happened since those visits. Is it because of this virus, his budget or just being plain lazy and just walking to the Cash & Carry in front of the truck and buying those breaded oysters, and shrimp? Was given a sample chicken wing early in the day and a sample of their pear infused lemonade while working at the Courtland Pear Fair. I got the small fish with fries. The fish was perfect. It was light and flakey and well seasoned but not overboard. The fries were lightly seasoned and were quite good. Let me just say that the presentation was all that. The food was seasoned so well that I reached into the box and grabbed a lemon by mistake and even that tasted like chicken. The staff was great too. I informed them of my concern with shellfish allergies and they assured me that they used separate oil for separate meats. If only every place in Stockton did the same. Pretty solid and I am surprised! I am usually not a fan of food trucks since they are usually overpriced and subpar (at least in areas where I've lived) so I was kind of iffy to eat at one but it seemed like food trucks were ample in Stockton. We got the small fish n chips with Mac and cheese. They gave us a few more pieces since we shared which was sweet of them. The fish was not greasy or overly breaded which is something I do not like about other places so I was impressed with that. I did wish the fries weren't so thick because I like mine a little bit crunchier and less potato-y. But the key part of the meal here was the Mac and cheese! It was super yum. I make a mean Mac and cheese so it's hard for me to like other places because it's usually lacking something or the cheese is just chunks and doesn't stick on the pasta but Chase the Smell kept their's pretty simple but yet still divine. First let me tell you, if you are looking for something quick, this is not your spot. They cook to order. The line wasn't long, but some people had already placed orders before me, so the wait was a little long. Being that this is a food truck, it is on the street and of course there's no seating ( Food truck). This is not the place if you have a 30 minute lunch break, and try to grab something quick for lunch. There were two people working on Cook, which I assumed is the owner, and a young lady that was assisting with boxing your food, and also the cashier. Being it was the end of the day, I am sure they were both tired, and greetings were a little dull, but I understand. The taste of the food was delicious. Although the fries could have been cooked a little longer. The fish is cooked all the way through, crunchy, good flavor. As for the people that were ordering, they didn't seem to mind the wait. The food came out hot, and ready to eat. I saw them mistakenly get one order wrong, but the guy was not upset. He said he will just make it up on the next one... Whatever that meant.
