And there is another taqueria right next to it so don't get confused ! There are a few places inside to sit and eat but none outside . I wouldn't suggest eating outside of this location however . We eat here occasionally and it's usually average but it's close to our home so it's worth it .... Until today! The "grilled onions"were oiled slugs basically... both burritos had holes in the tortillas so we had to put it on a plate to eat. The meat was burnt for both burritos and the cheese wasn't even melted. We spent 42 dollars and they gave us one bag of nasty jalapeño's and 3 salsas for two burritos and 3 tacos. This was my first time here. I ordered 3 birria tacos and my fiancé ordered a queso birria taco. When I placed my order, the girl was super confused with my order. I told her I would like 3 birria tacos and 1 queso birria taco. She didn't understand my order when I said birria taco. Then a coworker of hers explained birria street tacos. I'm not too sure why it was so difficult to under my order, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. They're actually quite busy here and usually that means the food is great. When we received the food, I wasn't aware that the queso birria taco didn't come with any consommé. You actually have to buy three to get free consommé. Secondly, on Yelp, the pictures are so misleading. The people who posted photos of the birria tacos are not regular birria tacos. It's the queso birria tacos. I was given the impression that the tacos do come with consommé. This restaurant was also a little difficult to find because it's actually inside a supermarket called Peñas Super Mercado, towards the right side. I probably would come here again since the food is good, but honestly for Stockton, it's pretty pricey. I'm surprised that the price was the same as Bay Area prices. My pics don't do the food justice because we waited quite some time for the food to arrive and I was really hungry. Also, keep in mind that this place is CASH ONLY. The area is a little sketchy but the food makes it all worth while. We ordered a pastor burrito, a little small but was packed with flavor. The quesatacos we also ordered were great. Finally we ordered a mulita de pastor, seasoned well and tasted even better. All this to compliment the horchata that was fantastic. Located just off El Dorado going North before March Lane inside Peñas Super Mercado. Limited seating. They have great menus posted that have grrrreat pics of most of their food. Quick and friendly service. I went on a Taco Tuesday around 4:00pm. No lines! My order only took about 5 minutes. I hear sometimes they sell out of items. They also have two taco trucks in town. One down South off Wilson Way and one off Pacific Ave.. Have some tissue on hand because their tacos were nose runny spicy!! It's a very small place located in a Mexican market, on the far right corner of the market. They have a few seats available indoors. Heed caution in the parking lot, I've had a few near misses there with crazy drivers. All in all it's absolutely worth it for the birria tacos. If you aren't familiar with birria, it's a slow braised meat dish made with beef or traditionally goat, with a rich broth. The meat is very tender so shreds easily, it can be served as a soup or often in tacos made with corn tortillas dipped in the oily broth, fried with cheese on one side, and stuffed with the shredded meat, topped with cilantro and onions, and served with more broth for dipping. I consider this place almost like a hidden gem of Stockton, although it's become more popular and well known since opening up a food truck as their 2nd location. From my search for the perfect taco this has got to be the best in the area. Keep in mind that if you go, they are located inside a Mexican market so can be hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for. Also they only take cash. These guys are know for their quesatacos filled with birria. For those who don't know, birria is kind of like a beef stew/soup or something in between. There are 2 types of quesatacos I've come across. There is one where the tortilla is essentially made out of fried cheese while the other is more like a mini quesadilla the size of a taco. These guys do the mini quesadilla type. Their quesatacos are a birria filled, cheesey, melty goodness with a slightly crunchy tortilla and both a red and green sauce. They also have consomme (broth from the birria) which you can dip the tacos into with each bite but they taste delicious even without it. I have found places that serve birria but I have not seen one in Stockton that does tacos like this. Definitely my favorite taco spot in the area. My only issues with this place are the size of their location and their consistency. It's never been lower than a 4/5 for me. The tacos always have a slight crisp at least but when they are more crunchy, that's when they're at their best. If they were consistently more crunchy it would easily be 5 stars for me. read more

When you walk in, it will be located to the right. You place your order with the employee and please be mindful that they accept CASH ONLY. They're usually fairly quick with orders. It's preferable for social distancing that you wait outside for your order and just check in after 10/15 minutes depending on how far you are in line. All orders are packaged in to-go packaging for you to enjoy for picnic in the park or the comfort of your car or home. One of my favorite parts of these tacos are that they are generous on the meat for these tacos and the flavor is consistent! First of all, the young lady in the cash register taking the orders is extremely rude. I am a business owner as well and I would never treat my customers the way she treats people. She was extremely rude and unapologetic... Second of all, this is the second time they do not give me my full order. The food isn't cheap here so I just expect my full order when I order it. Last but not least, the place is always a bit dirty on the outside. The tables were dirty, no AC, and the baby high chair was covered in filth. Food wise the food is okay.
