    Birria quesotacos
    Samantha T.

I'm so excited to try the ramen birria and birria pizza ! When I got here I was confused on location . But it's inside the Mexican super market . And there is another taqueria right next to it so don't get confused ! There are a few places inside to sit and eat but none outside . I wouldn't suggest eating outside of this location however . But the service was good . They have a lot of workers working hard . Not to mention how hot it is . Ahh smells so good

Lil lunch date with hubby we decided to share a chicken burrito . Yes it was that big that we were able to share and I must say it was delicious well worth it . Their aguas are really good as well . Recommend their Jamaica .

    Best menudo

It's a good place to eat they have a delicious menudo and they have a very good costumer service !!!!

Located inside a small market. Legit quesa birria Many options including birria in instant tapatio ramen! Flavor is on point. Downsides: the plaza is sketchy. Dealers slanging chronic and other pharmaceuticals in the parking lot. Tiny dining area. Only a few tables. Service can be slow with a just a few workers in the cramped kitchen space. Looking forward to trying the birria pizza if I'm in the area again.

The most disgusting burrito I've ever had had to cut it because there was holes in the tortilla.

We eat here occasionally and it's usually average but it's close to our home so it's worth it .... Until today! The "grilled onions"were oiled slugs basically... both burritos had holes in the tortillas so we had to put it on a plate to eat. The meat was burnt for both burritos and the cheese wasn't even melted. We spent 42 dollars and they gave us one bag of nasty jalapeño's and 3 salsas for two burritos and 3 tacos. All smothered in so much grease. Then tried to give my husband shit because he didn't leave a tip ! I do not recommend coming here.

    Quesotacos (Birria) Small Consomé

This place was found in a supermarket/ grocery store The food was very very savory and delicious. I like that it comes with grilled onion grilled chiles and Freshly chopped radish. The quesotaco was amazing. With everything includes onion , cilantro , and avocado salsa (really good ) which was perfect on its own. I got a small consomé to try with it Was not a fan of the small consomé. But the birria was delicious. Would definitely recommend If you're in the area and looking for good food.

Ate them before I could even take a proper photo.

This was my first time here. I ordered 3 birria tacos and my fiancé ordered a queso birria taco. When I placed my order, the girl was super confused with my order. I told her I would like 3 birria tacos and 1 queso birria taco. She didn't understand my order when I said birria taco. Then a coworker of hers explained birria street tacos. I'm not too sure why it was so difficult to under my order, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. They're actually quite busy here and usually that means the food is great. When we received the food, I wasn't aware that the queso birria taco didn't come with any consommé. You actually have to buy three to get free consommé. Secondly, on Yelp, the pictures are so misleading. The people who posted photos of the birria tacos are not regular birria tacos. It's the queso birria tacos. I was given the impression that the tacos do come with consommé. This restaurant was also a little difficult to find because it's actually inside a supermarket called Peñas Super Mercado, towards the right side. I probably would come here again since the food is good, but honestly for Stockton, it's pretty pricey. I'm surprised that the price was the same as Bay Area prices. My pics don't do the food justice because we waited quite some time for the food to arrive and I was really hungry. Also, keep in mind that this place is CASH ONLY. SO, make sure you bring some cash with you.

WOW, so thankful my sis got to hear about this spot from her girl so we decided to check em out. FYI, CASH ONLY so make sure you have that on hand before coming in here. We of course ordered the birria tacos and then this amazing birria pizza as well to share with the group. The tacos were fire but wish I could say the same about the consume. but still amazingly good! Lets get into the pizza, its so freakin good! the sauce drizzle on top is so fireee! I think the pizza is better than the birria tacos tho. make sure to get the pizza with some friends cause its A LOT of food but DEF worth it! Service is good and make sure you order for pick up so you can pay and take it home to eat and share with everyone!

If you're ever in the Stockton area, this is definitely a spot to grab some Tijuana style Mexican eats! A few tips before going: Take cash and try their Mulitas and Sopes.

One of their descriptive menus inside. Cashola only!

Only a four star since I've only tried their shrimp/asada burritos and their awesome Asada, Pastor, and shrimp quesatacos. All were excellente! Located just off El Dorado going North before March Lane inside Peñas Super Mercado. Limited seating. They have great menus posted that have grrrreat pics of most of their food. Quick and friendly service. I went on a Taco Tuesday around 4:00pm. No lines! My order only took about 5 minutes. I hear sometimes they sell out of items. They also have two taco trucks in town. One down South off Wilson Way and one off Pacific Ave.. Have some tissue on hand because their tacos were nose runny spicy!! It's on my list of good spots to eat quick, delicious, & savory Mexican food! Check'em out and give them some local love. Tony out!!

Our table was right next to a metal utility rack they were using to store menus and cleaning products. That's fine, but my head was close to a spray bottle and a bottle of Lysol, which wasn't ideal. They were very busy, so we had high hopes for great food. Unfortunately, many of the items were bland. The beans and rice were especially underwhelming, with very little flavor--you can tell from the picture that the rice is basically plain white rice. My flautas were crunchy with fresh toppings, but the meat lacked flavor. My meal came with a bowl of fideo, but it wasn't delivered before my meal like it was for other tables. In fact, I had to ask for it after our food arrived, which makes me think I wouldn't have received it otherwise. After we finished eating, it took about 15 minutes to get our check. The servers were clearly very busy, but it would have been nice to leave sooner. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back. The noise level was overwhelming, and the food was just okay. If I did return, I wouldn't order anything that comes with beans and rice.

The maximum occupancy is 49 people, but it felt roomier inside than that. The decor is okay and the place seemed clean overall. Service - Service was pretty good. Our server was very friendly, and service wasn't bad. The only blemish was she did not check in on refills very frequently. I managed to get one, but my wife did not. By the time she asked again, we had finished our meal and were ready to go. A pretty small blemish, and not a dealbreaker for us. Food - The food was outstanding. My wife got the fajitas and they looked great! She loved them. I got the alambres and they were fantastic. Add in the homemade tortillas (both flour and corn) and it's an easy five stars! Their rice, beans, and salsa were all good too. No complaints at all with the food. Overall, I'd definitely come back again. The food was great, the people were super friendly and welcoming, and we were able to get a table right away. It's very close to the freeway, so when coming from out of town it's an easy on/off too. We came here on a whim last weekend, and OMG, I'm so glad we did. The restaurant is small and not in the greatest location, but the food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. I can't wait to go back! The tortilla chips are a mix of corn and flour, which was a nice surprise. Literally everything we ordered was so good! I went with the build-your-own combo plate and chose a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and beef flautas. My entire plate was delicious, including the rice and beans. The homemade tortillas were so fresh and tasty. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their food. We split the three-piece quesabirria tacos, and they were excellent. I chose the gravy cheese enchilada for my combo plate, but I also tried my partner's green chili chicken enchilada--both were great. You can choose between red, green, or gravy sauce for the enchiladas, and I definitely want to try the red next time. Don't be turned off by the unassuming storefront and corner location. This place is serving up some seriously delicious food, and it's absolutely worth the visit!

I chose La Mesa because the first time we went I was very impressed with the delicious drinks and the short rib enchiladas. The atmosphere is so special and intimate whether you're on a date or with family. Both times we went, our servers were friendly and checked on us appropriately. Our server yesterday was handling making drinks at the bar and serving other tables that were there for Valentine's Day, but she still provided us with really good customer service (not sure of her name but she was wearing a pink shirt). We ordered a few drinks that included a strawberry horchata with rum, and a special one for Valentine's Day called the cupids kiss. They really stood out to me with how cute and yummy they were. For an appetizer, we ordered birria French fries. I was surprised that it had the consommé because I assumed it would make the fries soggy.... But it did not! They were AMAZING. The birria was tender and delicious, the flavor had a lot of depth in the consommé. For our entrees, we both cannot get enough of the short rib enchiladas with the mole sauce. They are our favorite. I really am just grateful that there is a restaurant like this that cares about the food they share with their customers. In the past, we ate at restaurants for my birthday where they didn't take as much pride or care about what they served. My birthday dinner at La Mesa felt very special to me and my boyfriend.
