I brought both my dogs here while I was home visiting my mom. My first visit was because my pup had pustules and I needed a refill. I called them to see if I could get a refill if my vet in Georgia faxed in a prescription. They informed me of the price, got all my info and said they could call me when it was ready. Hours later I got a call from them informing me that my vet did not fax it in yet. I called my vet and they said they sent it, overall it was a back and forth game but I finally got my prescription. I was impressed that even though my pup was not a regular patient at this clinic; they reached out to me to let me know they had not gotten the prescription. During my second visit, I brought my dogs in because one of them had worms in their stool. The technician and the vet were so helpful and friendly. They each took their time asking me questions, looking at my dogs and asked me questions about life. They were genuinely concerned about my dogs and interested in me. This was impressive because not only did they care about the health of my dogs but they wanted to get to know me as an individual. The entire staff that I encountered were all friendly and helpful. From the lady I spoke with about the prescription to the lady that checked me out. The prices here for the prescription and both dogs being seen was reasonable. I was expecting it to be much higher. I would highly recommend this clinic. If I have any problems again with my dogs when I'm home in MN, this is where I would bring them. **FYI, there business cards are also discount cards. You can get $20 off your first visit if you give it to them, they are by the registers. I didn't notice this until later after my first visit. read more

Dr Anderson took the time to listen to me, then did a thorough and gentle exam of my cat. She obviously read her chart ahead of time, and took the time to explain options. Vet tech was great too. My dog loved the entire staff and all who interacted with her, - every person held her gently, carefully, & safely -she had no problem with any of them hugging, petting or holding her. We've had a wonderful experience here over the past several years. Both of our dogs received compassionate care from each vet that we've seen here. The vet techs and veterinarians are extremely kind and knowledgeable. They helped us through a wide variety of health issues with our first dog, from allergies to GI issues and more, providing us with great care and excellent referrals, where appropriate. Similarly, they've provided excellent care for our second dog, from wellness exams to intervention for illnesses. They helped her through canine influenza and aspiration pneumonia, intervening quickly and early and helping her recover in a short period of time. She loves seeing her friends at the front desk and her vet tech and vet friends when we bring in! PROFIT OVER PETS. A STOREFRONT FILLED WITH CARELESS MURDERS AND GREED. They killed our beloved healthy 8 year old dog on his first visit offering zero follow-up or sympathy. They used a deadly vaccine on our beautiful boy and despite the vaccine company's past and current issues with deadly vaccines including the one given AND that the company is known by slogans such as "profits over pets." They over-charge for extremely sub-par service and have zero care or respect for you or your pet. They use the cheapest vaccines and charge you more than 100x cost, do not explain the risks of these vaccines even if they used high quality ones. After two weeks in the hospital and many weeks (adding up to a few months) of 24 hour home care including fluids, medications, dietary changes, and supplements, under the guidance of caring veterinarians, which was better than the few weeks they shrugged off as nothing, he was still not able to recover. This clinic and staff killed the life and love of our family with zero sympathy for something that should be considered malpractice. The entire clinic staff is heartless, knowingly deceptive and lack the basic knowledge and emotions that are necessary to care for anyone or anything. CVV stands together with Elanco in their grand vision of "PROFIT OVER PETS". A perfect example of this when we requested more subcutaneous fluids for our dog, they wouldn't approve the order through Chewy at 6.99 a bag but would gladly give us the same bags for 99.00 each. They killed our dog, they knew he was dying, and they still tried to swindle us and decided it was fine to just let our dog die in pain and be done. We kept his levels the same for months and when he worsened, he passed with dignity and without suffering - at a very high emotional cost and well before his time. Everyone associated with the clinic should loose their legal standing to practice, to own or be around animals, and loose every asset they have professionally and personally gained through the maltreatment of all of the animals they have murdered for money. read more

I would not give this place my money or trust them with my animal. Just by trying to get an appointment I was extremely displeased. I have an indoor cat who doesn't go to the vet regularly because she's normally in good health. The woman on the phone was insistent I get records for rabies vaccine (which I don't have, and I told her this). After repeatedly telling her I don't have the records, I finally asked "so you won't see my cat without records that don't exist?" She said she would put me in a waiting list. She was not nice, understanding, or helpful in the least. When I got a call a few days later asking if my cat still needed to be seen, another woman was very rude also. Go to VCA in Chanhassen - they are the opposite of Chaska Valley! At VCA I was treated well and my cat was well taken care of - all without any mention of a rabies vaccine! I would stay away from Chaska Valley unless you wanted to be treated in a judgmental and harsh way - who knows how they will treat your animal when they treat the owner that badly!!! read more

I will write a longer review later today as I'm too angry to write a long, completely coherent complaint. I'll give you a hint: I just had my kitten, Louisa, in yesterday(9.28.11) to be spayed. The vet tech noticed that her claws were a little long and told me they would trim them. OK, fine, it's a vet clinic. No problems, right? Wrong. Last night, I decided to check little Louisa's claws for the hell of it. Bottom left paw, fine. Bottom right paw, there's a little blood from where they trimmed too close, and cut the quick(look it up). Front left paw, not good. Trimmed too short, a little more blood. Front right paw? DAMMIT!!! She has only a stub of a claw left! There's a lot of blood(for a tiny claw), and the quick was cut about halfway down!!! Like I said, there's only a stub of a claw left. Oh, wait. Another claw was cut halfway down? Just as stubby as the first one. It's painful for an animal when a claw is trimmed too short(into the quick). My little Louisa just had her little uterus removed, and she's having enough trouble as it is, let alone having painful little toes. And, come to think of it, no one pointed that out to me. They just brought her out in her kennel. How conveeeenient! Of course, my husband I just tried taking pictures and the photos didn't take, and now I'm recharging the camera batteries. Of course, he has to leave for work in a few minutes. I will, one way or another, get a photo of her poor little mangled claws and post them here. I'll have more for you later. Lexi E. This is hands down the best vet staff I have ever encountered. When I was notified that my Sophia had cancer, Dr. Olson went out of her way to contact me and answer all the questions I had and to be there as a great source of support. On the most difficult day of my life in having to let my beloved Sophia go, again, I was met with such warmth and empathy from such a caring staff. I also received a personalized card from the veterinarians with sentiments that brought me to tears. They had always been so good to her and I would only trust this staff with a future member of my fur family. read more

We moved to Chaska from Mankato last year and we are so fortunate to have found this vet! Our dog Sonny sees Dr. Jody, and our kitty Tavish sees Dr. Guidot. Both have been phenomenal and so kind at every interaction! It is such a breath of fresh air to have Vets that take the time to answer all your questions, even the silly ones! My current vet is booked 4 months out, I used Chaska Valley Vet a yr ago when I first moved to the area but decided I was happier at my previous vet and to stay with them. I called Chaska Valley because my dog has an infection in his paw, once they realized I had seen someone else since his last visit they told me he could not be seen since hes not a current client, even though they had openings. I was getting ready to leave for vacation (we all know how hectic that can be) and the day before leaving I noticed my poor Lil' guy was straining to urinate so I figured I better try to get him in ASAP before I left so the pet sitter (aka Grandma) wasn't stuck caring for a sick kitty or having to bring him in. I called his regular Vet with no luck as they were apparently closed until 3:30 pm and time was of the essence here. Called about 4 other vets which one told me he was "blocked," (which put me in a panic) and that it was an emergency and he needed to get seen asap but they were full for the day. That didn't sound right to me as he was still going potty just frequently and in very small amounts. Finally got a hold of a reputable vet who I trust and he was also closed and referred me to Chaska Valley Clinic. I am so happy that we decided to go to Chaska Vet Clinic. They had same day openings and were able to see us within an hour and a half without charging us an outrageous "emergency" fee of $150+ just to see my cat. The Clinic is clean and HUGE and everyone was very friendly and personable. They had medical records (which are quite extensive) faxed over to them before we arrived so Dr Asher already knew about my guys' previous conditions,etc,. She was just awesome and knows her stuff! Knew that I wanted to avoid any type of anti-inflammatory/steroids and was considerate of that and avoided those types of medications. I patronized this Clinic for 18 years with several dogs and several months ago my aging dog was exhibiting many problematic symptoms. Since my primary vet cut back her hours dramatically I was often asked to talk to others in the clinic. I talked with them some, but also asked for a call back from my primary vet (for 18 years) regularly as well-because of her years of experience particularly with older dogs. This seemed a problem for the staff ... as about 6 weeks later I received a letter from Chaska Valley Vet stating "we are no longer able to serve YOUR needs". I was utterly dumbfounded and offended by the use of all caps as if I was a very troublesome client...for 18 years!! Ironically, because of the difficulty getting information and appointments I had actually started going to another vet about 2.5 weeks prior. I knew I definitely needed more support, empathy and accessibility than Chaska Valley Vet currently provides clients. They are overbooked, understaffed, have a myriad of personalities between the docs and staff and -not all are good or helpful. My dog died weeks later... :( My Vet when asked, said others in the clinic were too stressed out with my calls (these weren't insanely frequent) so it wasn't her decision; ultimately her lack of thoughtfulness/loyalty allowed for a very rude, hurtful letter to be sent to me! I am giving the Lakewood Clinic a 1 star review because of their disrespectful treatment of a exceptional veterinarian. Here is my story and review concerning the wonderful care our yellow lab, Maisy, received while being treated by Dr. Gail Gieseke of Chaska Valley Veterinary Clinic before it became the Lakewood Pet Clinic. We had taken our dog to a different clinic for years and as she got older her itchy skin got worse and worse. Even after a grooming she'd itch so severely you could see how miserable she was-making sores. The veterinarian prescribed pills and/or steroids but nothing worked. I was advised to take Maisy to see Dr. Gieseke because of her reputation as one of the best pet doctors in Minnesota. After taking our dog to her I was so glad I did! On the first visit Dr. Gieseke knelt on on pad to get down at our dog's eye level. She looked her over thoroughly and gave her opinion that Maisy possibly had Mange. My first thought was how is that possible because usually a dog with Mange is in terrible living conditions and that wasn't the case for our dog. Her recommendation was to see a veterinary dermatologist in Eden Prairie. We did just that and she tested positive for Mange and was started on a shot regimen specifically for that. After her shots for Mange were completed our dog was then put on an anti-allergy pill and she had a new and finally itch-free life. Her quality of life was 100% better! Thanks to Dr. Gieseke our dog was helped when no other vet could. Now since the Chaska Valley Clinic has been taken over by Lakewood, I have found out Dr. Gieseke is no longer there. She is one of the best dog doctors around and will surely be missed. Dr. Gieseke explained to me how Maisy probably contracted Mange as we live in the country and take her on walks through the woods. She could have come in contact with brush or tree a Mange infected fox or coyote had rubbed against. She also informed us of a flea and tic pill that now protects against Mange as well so she started on those. Well done, thank-you Dr. Gail Gieseke! Our dear Maisy died a few years ago and I felt she had finally got to live a contented and itch free life! I certainly hope that Dr. Gieseke is mentoring and consulting new veterinarians because she deserves to be treated in high regard and respect of her long veterinary career and knowledge. read more

Just thought I would update my previous review. I moved an hour North of Chaska Valley Vet Clinic late 2009 and still go there for all my dogs Vet needs. I tried to find a "back up" clinic in the area I moved to and it was a disaster to say the least. One thing I will not compromise on is my dogs health care. I currently have 4 dogs. I buy their food, heart worm, flea/tick applications and all their vet check ups are done there. I could not imagine taking my dogs to any other vet clinic. I have used this clinic for over 16 years and couldn't imagine taking my dogs any where else for their routine vet care. read more

This clinic is a joke. My dog had an appointment to complete a series of shots. Brought her in for her shots and told them my dog had a minor ear infection. Asked them to take a swab of the infected ear and issue a tube of meds. They said they couldn't do that without the doctor looking at the ear. Had to make a second appointment for that. I told them we were leaving town and could not make another appointment. They said good bad so sad. I was a relatively new customer. One and done. Find another vet clinic that actually cares. read more

My review is based off Chaska Valley vet killing my beloved dog, and then basically calling her a statistic. I would give zero stars if I could. I took my dog to Chaska Valley Vet for over 2 years. Up until they caused her death, I was fairly satisfied with them (except their IMO overpriced charges). Still, the dog was healthy so was I content. The staff in general were always friendly and happy to see her. The day my buddy passed one month ago, she was in for a routine travel vaccination. Now this Doctor Cat, seemed like she was not all there. I commented to my wife several times during the visit how she was off and was concerned. This Doctor literally had to fill the travel document out 3 different times because she was so scatterbrained. My wife had to correct her the last time. When we left, my dog was breathing oddly. But she always had anxiety from the car ride. After 30 minutes home (the typical time it took the dog to unwind), my wife said her tongue was purple. We raced back down to the vet. They put her on oxygen and did an X-ray. This same inept Doctor then says to me it is not good, she needs to go to the ER in Eden Prairie. My dog died in my wife's arms at the stop light, one block from the ER. Still hoping there was time, we had them try to get her heart started back, but it was too late. This ER visit cost me $500 and I am convinced the vet from Chaska sent us there KNOWING she would die, but not die in Chaska and thus absolve her from liability. Add in the $280 I spent on the travel documents that were now useless, and it was a very steep price to pay to have my friend killed. Before we left, the same vet authorizes for an autopsy to be done, Chaska valley vet paid for the autopsy, X-ray and Oxygen (but not the ER services). It unquestionably was a guilty conscious. The results from the autopsy were our dog was perfectly healthy, and was killed because Chaska valley Vet did not hold us for another 15-20 minutes, which would of given them time to counter the lethal reaction my dog had. Instead, they sent her home to eventually die. I am heartbroken, devastated and still broken inside. NOTHING will bring her back, but no one else should ever lose their pet because of this!! When this same Dr Cat called me, she was just as scatterbrained. When I told her the ER vet's findings from the autopsy, she told me she would "challenge his findings" and that this was "a one in 50 case", to which I retorted my dog was NOT a statistic! The whole thing makes me ill inside. And my precious dog is gone forever. read more

We moved 2000 miles with our dog in the car (an almost 3-day car ride, with unfamiliar hotels and a major change in routine)...when we finally got to our temporary housing, he was scared and confused. We needed to take him to a vet a short time later, and he was still anxious from the move and the new surroundings. We found this vet on google, and when we arrived, our dog saw a couple other dogs in the waiting area and started to stress whine. One of the larger dogs who was acting erratically started to approach him. Our dog then growled and postured to be left alone. A vet staff member witnessed this interaction, and WROTE DOWN THAT OUR DOG WAS AGGRESSIVE ON HIS MEDICAL RECORDS!!! I couldn't believe it!!! I asked her to please remove that from his records, since we knew we would be moving to permanent housing in a different city and changing vets, and we did NOT want an inaccurate social stigma like that on his records (I have experience in dog training, and what happened in that room was normal dog behavior to communicate, to AVOID a confrontation! He was nervous and wanted to be left alone!). They refused to remove the label. I asked again politely, explaining our situation, and they finally agreed to change it to "aggressive tendencies" - TENDENCIES??! As if observing my dog for 5 minutes was enough to conclude a personality trait or behavioral pattern?! The reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because they did seem to be nice women, and I'd love to give them the benefit of the doubt here. But the next vet we took him to a few months later thought Chaska Valley Vet's actions were as misguided as we did, so needless to say, we will NEVER go back here. read more
