We brought our pup to Paws & Pals twice so far - the first time was for daycare and the second time was for a 4-night boarding. Our daycare experience was great, minus some turf burns on his paws but our boarding experience was less than ideal. When we came back to pick him up, there was this "hot spot" under his chin/neck area. When I brought it up with the staff at pickup, they weren't even aware of it. The lack of attention to detail on my pup is concerning as you could tell it had been festering for a few days. I hate that I am now left with this uncertain and uneasy feeling about his care there. Scheduled a bath and nail trim for my dog. Added on trimming her hair on her feet, sanitary area, and a few long belly hairs that pick up dirt and leaves outside (she's a Pyrenees mix). The blackboard with the offered services has no prices, so I asked. The GM quoted me a price. A normal beginning to this story. My dog was ready to be picked up 8 HOURS later. Our prior groomer before we moved to Prior Lake always got her finished in about 2 hours. I asked what took so long. Apparently this particular groomer just makes everyone drop their dog off for the full day, even if she doesn't start the dog for hours and hours. That's fine, if inconvenient, but telling the customer that in advance would be helpful. Especially when I didn't ask for this groomer and she never has taken more than a few hours at this place in the past. When it came time to pay, the price was 40% higher than what I was quoted this morning. A grand total of $180. Maybe that's what it costs for a bath and a nail trim now, but I doubt it. (She's a Pyrenees and you don't cut back their fur like other dogs, so this wasn't some big haircut situation). And of course I couldn't have my dog back unless I paid the surprise charges either. I asked why it was so much. She said my dog, who is persistently calm (if a little nervous), was "a little wiggly" while they groomed her paws. No groomer has ever said that before. Also, find me a dog that loves having its nails trimmed. Sounds a whole lot like a secret BS upcharge they can add to anyone's bill, doesn't it? I expressed my discontent and the manager I spoke with in the morning texted and said she refunded the extra money they charged me above the quoted price. Apparently my 83 pound dog is Extra Large and commands premium pricing (Despite not being charged as XL at other groomers or the previous times I took her to this particular groomer). That's nice, and I appreciate it. That's how they get to 1 star. They lose the rest from me for (a) holding my dog hostage unless I paid 40% more than the quoted price, (b) completely inscrutable pricing including the remarkable "wiggly" fee, (c) nonsensical excuses from combative employees when pressed to justify the additional charge, and (d) taking 8 hours to give my dog a bath without noting that it would be a whole day affair. read more

We have had 2 sets of pups who have gone to paws and pals since 2005. They are like family and treat our dogs as such! We wouldn't go anywhere else. Period! read more

I absolutely loved the pet resort. It was my puppies first time having a playdate. The facility was claimed there was no smell in the staff was very kind and understanding. I love to being able to look at the webcam to see him and I especially loved the report card with photos that they sent after. I will definitely use them when I am in need of him having a place to stay when I'm on vacation. read more

Experience left me with a bad feeling. The experience lacked transparency and I feel terrible for sending my dog there. My husband dropped her off at 7:45 am and they told him she wouldn't be ready until 4 pm. They did not tell him that she was going to be kenneled until it was her turn. I had to call to find out that they have all dog for the day dropped off and crate them until it is their turn to be groomed. If I would have known this I would have never sent her there. I brought her in a few months earlier and it wasn't this same process. While I booked over the phone I wasn't informed of this either. My dog isn't kennel trained and I don't like her in a kennel for long periods of time. I feel like I got robbed of the choice to take my dog to a groomer with a process that fit better. The staff lacked transparency and I feel very gaslit to why this process was better instead of saying what is actually happening. read more

Reservations are easy on the website and don't take much time. Our Golden Retrievers love it here.

Treated like family! They know us, they oour dogs and their quirks, they are always very accommodating to changes. Love them.

Love the place but they won't take my puppy unless she's spayed even though she's not in heat.

My little Lulu goes to Smart Play at Paws and Pals and it's the greatest place she has ever been. The staff are so caring, positive, and professional. They send a report card home with her and it's always full of interesting information and what she learned throughout the day. I was very nervous about taking her to a daycare as she is so attached to our family, however, the staff treats her like a princess and she's excited to go each week. I know if we needed to leave her for an extended period of time or overnight the service would be just as great. I highly recommend Paws and Pals and specifically the Smart Play program. It has been such a great opportunity for Lulu to be around other dogs and people besides her family and to learn new commands and tricks. Paws and pals pet resort is just amazing!! Everyone there is so friendly and really take the time to bond with my pup as well as with me! My Charlie is a 4 year old rescue guy who had a horrible first three years of his life. He was terrified all the time and trusted no one. He has been with me now for 10 months. He had a difficult time meeting other dogs and especially their owners. He hid in the bedroom most of the day only being coaxed out for walks. I brought him to Paws & Pals to be with my son's dog because I had been impressed with the staff when I picked her up. Charlie's positive experience at Paws & Pals has changed his life. He is excited to go there and is not afraid of the staff. He is finally playing with the other dogs and no longer lives in terror. His self confidence holds even when he is home and meets new people on our walks. I am so very grateful to the staff at Paws & Pals for helping my guy start to enjoy life and be able to just be a dog. read more

Friendly staff that make your pet feel right at home. The care and attention they give our fur baby is top notch!

They only have one groomer and this is the second time our grooming appointment has been canceled within a week of our appointment. The first appointment was canceled because the groomer quit. The second time was because of medical reasons. This has left us in a bad situation trying to find another groomer at the last minute. Our golden doodle is 80 lbs and takes 3 hours for grooming so almost impossible to get a last minute appointment. Would not recommend this grooming facility for that reason read more

This place is amazing. We took our two dogs here for 4 nights in early February. The staff was organized and ready for our dogs. The accommodated our wish to have them stay in the same suite and also that they needed to eat separately. I love the ability to see the dogs play on the web cam. Made me so happy they were exercising and playing with other dogs while we were out of town. This place is outstanding!! read more

I've seen plenty of amazing reviews on other sites about this place so I'm honored to be the first here! Woot! I can't say enough good things about Paws & Pals Resort. I was a blubbering mess when we left our dog for a 10 day stay to go on vacation. He 'acts' like THE dog in charge but being a rescue dog traumatized him a bit. I lamented to the staff about how nervous I was leaving him and received nothing but reassurance. They immediately wanted to pet/lplay with our boy right off the bat. One staff member in particular (I could kick myself for not remembering his name!) was there upon dropping him off and picking him up. He told us all about how our boy did, a bit nervous the first day and playful/overjoyed the rest of the time! I'm fairly certain his attentiveness is what made our dog feel so relaxed. Now... we've used other dog kennels for daycare and have had issue after issue with them 'forgetting' our dogs special needs. They've even forgotten to feed him (I mean... come ON!) and somehow managed to misplace a cute bowl with paw prints on the side. Now, I realize he requires a bit more attention and care. He has a probiotic to take in the morning along with anxiety meds in the afternoon. They never once forgot a dose and fed him the special food we brought. All blankets and gazillions of toys were returned to us. Also - did I mention this place is clean? AMAZINGLY SO! Not to mention the 'kennels' for the dog look like children's play rooms. Our dog returned to us MORE obedient than when he came... still trying to figure out how they managed that one. P.S. Pretty sure our dogs stay was way superior to our own hotel room while on vacation. I was slightly jealous. read more

Our dog was bit at daycare (small bichon) by a large yellow lab. Everyone should be aware that this place is quantity over quality. Our dog was attacked and they couldn't give a the real story. Our dog had tubes for fluid drainage due to there being 5 bites on his back and shoulders. Multiple doctor visits with unknown repercussion. He's traumatized. I would look into River Valley Veterinary clinic. Paws and Pals is not a place for small dogs, or any dog. read more

A word of caution about Paws and Pals.in Prior Lake .Took our puppy there for her first groom and the result was disastrous! she was even nicked a few places . We have boarded our 2 beagles here quite frequently over the past last year and a half and are happy to report that both my husband and I, and the beagles love it!! At first, the price might seem a little high compared to what you might be paying elsewhere, but it's an "all-in" price, so make sure you take that into account. No extra charge for additional exercise and also no extra charge for administering medications. The last kennel we were using charged for both. At the end of the stay the price ended up being about the same, plus our dogs get way more exercise and interaction here. Then there is the level of care itself. It is far superior to what we've experienced at other kennels we have used. First off, you'll immediately notice the glass panels looking in to the kennel area from the reception area. Not many kennels are willing to do that. What that should tell you is that this kennel has nothing to hide! The runs are spacious and clean and the staff is amazing. Everyone is very warm and friendly! Exercise time occurs in a social setting and our dogs love it. At our old kennel, our female used to howl and cry when we left, but she doesn't do that here. Wow! I think both of our dogs view Paws & Pals as doggie vacation vs. doggie jail, and that makes my heart happy. This is not a fluffy kennel with tv's and massages. Instead, it's the kind of kennel that real dogs are interested in. To put it in dog terms: Clean. Friendly people. Lots of playtime with other dogs. I take my 4 yr old rescue to their smart play day care option in the winter to keep him entertained when it's too cold for us to exercise as much as he is used to. The staff are so kind to both me and my dog and I can tell they truly care about him! They are one of the only places that actually does separate dogs by size and temperament and their staff are very knowledgeable in dog behavior and training (many claim to be but these guys have the results and certifications to back up their claims). My dog pulls me to go inside and via their Instagram photos I can see has so much fun as well as love and attention from staff all day long! This place is awesome!!! read more

Can't say enough how great this place is! We've been going there since it opened! They know each and every dog that comes to play or stay! They always have a good story to tell when you pick your dogs up and who they played with or how they did. The facility is super clean and extremely fun for the dogs.
