I just read the review from 11 years ago and things have definitely changed if it is even the same ownership - I'm not sure. A husband and wife who currently owns the venue/castle are very charming and warm people. I have been there several times and it has been a delightful experience. I plan on taking a carload of friends and will be attending the fair and play that is scheduled for this Friday, 9/8/23. I will know more and will report back, but I am expecting the best and I'm sorry that one person' had such a bad experience. I rate this place a zero and here's why, the castle does not look that nice like it does online. But the main reason I'm writing it is zero is we showed up took a picture of the castle. A lady came out and she purposely sick her 3 dogs on a one year-old that was looking at the pretty princess castle threw a car window., the lady was very rude and all three of her dogs put scratches on a brand new truck, we are not the only one who has had this experience. There's a few people on TikTok. Including a woman with a six-year-old daughter that the lady also sicked her dogs on do not go here it is not open to the public. After this experience, I would never recommend this for anyone and I hope and pray nobody gets hurt by her dogs. She literally told us that we have to call and then sick her dogs on us. Just went to a wedding here today. Some new friends were getting married and invited us as some last minute additions to join the festivity. Now if you're having a wedding at a castle out in what felt like the middle of nowhere Springfield you've got to do it in style. Dress code was standard wedding attire or Renfaire attire (it's a castle so come on). Not only was it very fitting for the couple that it was held at a fantasy castle, but that couple also does full armored medieval combat (Buhurt is the name of the sport) and had invited members of the St. Louis team (Legion of Honor) and their Springfield home team (The Iron Alliance). I run support for Legion of Honor and my wife flights for them so we got to be guests and participants. Very rude to us when we came to do a tour. The place is still under construction. We parked out back, walked through the vendors to a door that was not locked or marked employee's only. We walked into an ongoing tour. The lady said we didn't pay for the tour and to get out, in front of the tour group and others waiting. Then we didn't move fast enough for her and she started talking to us like we were idiot's. I am in my late 30's and my parents are in their 60's. We were there to do a tour but never saw anything that said there was a place to enter or a fee. I did not want to continue and kept my mouth shut so as to not embarass my parents any further and they paid the $5/pp for these rude people to take us on a $3 tour. She told some children many times to not touch anything that she would have to clean and when she filed us into these tiny rooms that people pay to stay in everyone was told not to lean against the walls. I cannot believe this is how they treat people that they have invited to their place. I would and will never recommend anyone to go there and will get many miles out of this story..... read more
