I love this vet. Always attentive and informative. They always take good care of my dogs and are reasonably priced.

I recently switched vets due to our other retiring. I have 3 dogs, and so far, 2 have seen Dr Renehan and Dr O'Neal. Both doctors are excellent! We've had dentals, checkups and urgent business taken care of in the office. The office staff is kind and helpful and the doctors and techs are gentle and thorough. My dogs have been treated at Chatfield for over 20 years. Ownership has changed, but my pets have continued to have thoughtful, caring, and competent care throughout the years from this veterinary hospital. It seems that each of my dogs has had a different ailment, and all were treated compassionately and expertly. I have found the front desk receptionists helpful and courteous. I understand the pressure they and the worried pet owner may encounter. I had to have my beloved. 14 year old dog put to sleep today, a difficult and necessary decision. The vets and the staff could not have been more helpful and kind. Drs. Natureman and Renehan always have time for questions, and explanations, and support. I am too old to have another dog, but I encourage any of you, who read this, to not hesitate to bring your pets to Chatfield Veterinary Hospital for care. It's unfortunate to be in the situation we're in but I have to say that the happenings of the last week have been utterly disappointing. Our dog (who has gone to Chatfield for veterinary care and boarding for nearly 9 years) was at daycare for two days. We picked him up and as soon as he laid in the back of the car we noticed a deep laceration on his ankle. My husband immediately (within seconds) took him back inside and they said they'd stitch him up. The interactions over the course of the next few minutes were quite upsetting. No apology, no immediate concern for something in their care cutting our dogs paw. The hallway and stairwell up were looked at to see if there was blood, and my husband noted there was some right outside the front door as soon as he exited with our dog. My husband was provided an estimate for $500 to repair the laceration (after they'd already taken him back). He said it felt wrong and the front desk staff member did say she would speak with management and the vet on staff about what they could do.. When I arrived a couple hours later, the bill was $494 and as I questioned the fairness of the charges they said that they couldn't confirm it happened on their premises. We would have been more than happy paying anything for our dog, but in this situation it felt unjust. I requested our long history was printed out, so I could take my dog elsewhere; he deserves the best care and Chatfield has proven that they are NOT. What is bothersome is the lack of compassion and lack of responsibility that was accepted. We were treated like we were a random family with no history at the clinic, and it was purely our fault. The injury happened on their property, and at a minimum an apology would have been appreciated or at least acknowledgment that they needed to better scan the property. Not once did a manager or vet come to talk, or explain their view of the situation, simply second-hand from the front desk. We've come to realize it was (and always is) about the money for them and we were a simple transaction two days before Christmas. I'm still in a bit of shock at how we were treated. I look forward to finding care from a practice that values their clients and the animals that they see. read more

Been going here for years, but my most recent visit was a horrible experience. I was charged an extra $63 for an ear exam when I came in for a rash on my dogs stomach. The entire visit I had asked for the price of every single thing I was receiving, and the nurses and techs seemed really honest and transparent. But when I said my dog was prone to ear infections, one of the vet techs asked " can I do an ear exam". They didn't tell me it was going to cost extra, they didn't tell me they were going to test the earwax. I have taken my dog to the vet for her ear infections before, and have never had to chemically test her ear wax (without me even asking, I knew my dog didn't have an ear infection, and they did this without consent). $63 to let me know that she did not have an ear infection, when I didn't even ask for this service to begin with. I was spoken to by the techs with the impression that this was included in the original $95 exam. I've been to the vet for her ear infections before, and usually it's a quick shine in the ears, and an easy answer. I feel extremely scammed. I tried to discuss this charge to the front desk, and got completely dismissed. Then I called and was told that the manager would get back to me ASAP. I have not heard a word, absolutely no follow up. It's been three days, I followed up maybe five times. No communication at all. The manager hasn't tried, the manager doesn't care. I feel scammed, I feel disrespected, I feel like I was deceived. Really disappointing from a vet clinic that I've been going to for years. You would think that they value long term clients, but they don't. I chased after the manager for days, and couldn't even get a single callback. It's not worth going somewhere where you have to jump through hoops, and be extremely vigilant to not get scammed. For new clients, every single thing they offer is going to cost extra money, even if the language they use makes it seem like part of the exam. You have to ask about everything. I do not recommend. Extremely poor customer service. read more

A few weeks ago, my cat Ludo disappeared from the house (we still have no idea how), and 18 harrowing days later, we lured him home again. I was able to make a quick appointment at Chatfield the following day to get him tested for feline leukemia and get a general checkup, since he had a few scratches and lump on his side. Dr. Berger was awesome - she was very high energy (and apologetic for a delay in getting to me because they had an emergency as I arrived) and handled Ludo, who was pretty timid and spooked, very well. They ended up shaving a spot on Ludo's side to expose an abscess which they lanced, and sent Ludo home with some antibiotics. We went back again this week to follow up on the feline leukemia booster, with our other cat in tow. The whole staff was warm, welcoming, and great with our gang. Although my dogs are currently on a wellness plan at Banfield, I'm definitely going to switch back to Chatfield once our current year expires. I love going to a place that loves my animals! read more

Have been going to Chatfield with our two big dogs a little over a year now and absolutely love them!!! They are no fear certified and are amazing with our nervous dogs during appts - lots of treats and pets! We regularly use them for day care - great backyard space, really thoughtful staff, and pools when it's hot out. Our dogs adore it there. We also have boarded our dogs there- it is wonderful because they get rooms instead of cages and can participate in daycare play all day so that they are thoroughly tired at night. This is from someone who NEVER boarded before and always paid someone to stay at our house with them,, honestly because they love daycare so much, I am very comfortable leaving them there for weekends away. It is peace of mind that they are our vet as well in case anything happens, they are experts. I also like that they have cameras everywhere so you can check up on your dogs during their stay, both in daycare and the boarding suites (pic attached). read more

Worst experience I've had with a vet first it's hit or miss if the front desk is going to be nice or not. Took my 9 month old Rhodesian ridgeback in because he was loosing a lot of hair he saw dr reneham he couldn't figure it out put him on antibiotics did skin scrape everything normal with scrape. Dog still losing hair took him back 2 weeks later saw dr perrow she couldn't figure it out sold us medicated shampoo and did fungal test which took over 3 weeks to get! Dog still losing hair they finally refer us to a Derm specialist mean while I do some research find out my dog is just shedding under coat got furminator my dog is just fine! Really what vet wouldn't know that !! Wasted alot of money and time!! This office is so unprofessional no one ever called to even give us results or anything they sent a quick email that biggie was negative that's all no duh! He was just shedding! On top of all that you can't go in with your dog so who even knows if they did anything! read more

My Golden absolutely loves coming here for daycare! He is always nervous during car rides, but as soon as we pull into the parking lot he gets so excited! He always comes home (mostly) dry and smelling good, is worn out from the exercise, play time and playing in the water. Although it can be a bummer when daycare reservations are full, I am appreciative that they do not take more dogs than they can handle and maintain a ratio of workers to dogs. I worked at a doggy daycare several years ago and this was always an issue that led to fights breaking out (my dog got bit at one point at a previous daycare) -- but I always feel safe dropping him off here! This was the first time dropping off our cat for boarding...and for a long 14 days! The techs were AWESOME. Gave Sophie lots of love and attention, and what we really liked was getting an email update on her progress daily. Nice touch for being without fur ball for an extended period of time. We started bringing our dogs to Chatfield in October and LOVE them. Oldest had a tumor that had to be removed in her mouth and the Dr.'s and staff are incredible. You know they have the best intentions for you and your animal, never feel like they are trying to get more money from you. We LOVE Chatfield! The post surgery support was incredible. If you are looking for a caring, knowledgeable and friendly vet/staff this is the place to go! My previous vet retired after caring for my cats for almost 20 years and I felt lost without him and worried about who to choose to take care of my "babies" both of who are senior cats (18 and 17 years old) and have a lot of medical issues. A friend at work has taken his dogs to this hospital for years and after visiting the facility in July '08 and talking to the staff I decided to trust them with caring for my cats. Dr. Conklin and Dr. Crawford have both been great! Their knowledge of all the health issues my cats had to deal with (diabetes, asthma, hyperthyroidism) was spot on and really helped relieve my worry about picking the right vet hospital. They helped me do everything I could for my 18 year old Muffin when she started to decline in October . Their concern, constant vigilance and contact with me as we tried all the steps to get her better showed me just how wonderful my new vets are. Sadly, it was just Muffin's time and when we did take her in to put her to rest the experience was made as comforting as it could possibly be. They have a special little room that has a couple of nice comfy chairs and even a small bed with pillows and a throw on it. They took her away for a few minutes to put in an IV and then came back and gave us as much time as we wanted to say goodbye. I was able to hold her the whole time and she died peacefully in my arms. Afterwards they let us stay in the room with her as long as we wanted. Dr. Crawford and the staff were so nice and understanding of our grief and later they sent us a condolence card with a little piece of her fur and a little footprint. After this experience I know I have found the place I will trust all my future "furry children" to! read more

This is my favorite veterinary clinic by far, I trust my baby to go here and know she's okay. However, the front desk clerk told me in a very snarky voice "you don't have to weigh her now since she won't sit still" (come on now give her more than a second she's 8 months old!!) and before leaving she also told me that "my dog needed to go home" because she doesn't like to go to the vet so she was whining and barking like most dogs do correct?? Still my favorite vet clinic, but maybe treat your customers better from the front desk. read more

Chatfield failed to schedule an appointment I had arranged by phone with them 3 weeks previously (Jan 23rd). On the appointment day (Feb 15th), I was told that it wasn't in their schedule and they had nothing available that day. Not a huge deal, but very inconvenient. The 'couldn't care less' attitude of the receptionist regarding the error made it easy for me to take my business elsewhere. And she hung up on me too. read more

My husband and I just moved here from Parker and needed a new vet for our fur babies. We noticed that one of dogs was licking his paws a lot and getting ear infections. We brought him in and Doctor Nemmers figured it out right away. A chicken allergy. We got him on new dog food and the problems have been slowly going away. Just recently we brought in our other dog who had an infection on her leg. Doctors took great care of her and got her on the medication needed to heal the problem. I would like to preface this review by saying that I currently work in the pet care industry and have for the past 38 years on many levels. I also do NOT post only bad reviews... now I would like to say that I have been a veterniary client of this clinic, UNTIL I bought a doberman pincher and inquired on ear cropping. That request was met with serious attitude that I would do that to my dog. I moved on and sought out another vet that did a beautiful ear crop and treated us and our dog with respect. Several months later I began seeking out doggie daycare and this clinic is very convient to my husband dropping off on his way to work. I spoke to the daycare supervisor and we worked out a schedule, great! Several times my husband expressed to me that the daycare people did not seem happy when he dropped our dog off and I suggested it was early morning and maybe they just arent morning people.... then I experienced it myself when dropping her off one day at 11 am. I mentioned it to the front girls who are always very nice. I did end up speaking to the daycare supervisor about it and just suggesting to her that even if staff members are experiencing a bad day, they should never leave a client feeling like their dog is not wanted. We moved on and things seemed fine. Yesterday when dropping off my dog I was informed she needed a bordetella vaccine and a stool sample and that if I didnt allow them to perform that, she could not stay for daycare. We do not use their veterinary services, and therefore prefered to contact her vet and get her seen there. My question is why would you not notify a client in advance that this was coming up, so as to give them an opportunity to schedule to see their own vet of choice? The answer is CLEAR that if you are on your way to work, a majority of people would be forced to let them perform the service because they dont have time to take the dog back home, book the appointment and get it done at their own vet, etc. Finally, because I did leave with my dog, instead of falling for their tactic, I was called my the clinic manager an hour later and told not to bring my dog back. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE to say the least and in the midst came to find out that the pervious private owner, Kim Crawford, is not longer the owner and it was sold to a coprorate entity "Blue River". read more

I'm surprised at the negative review above about Dr. Nemmers, he literally saved my 16 year old cats life by taking the time to suggest blood work before euthanasia. My kitty was in stage four renal failure which is usually a death sentence for an animal but with the right treatment he is now doing extremely well. Dr. Nemmers was able to allow me to make an informed decision on whether or not it was time to say goodbye and I am thankful every day that he did. He was also very understanding and comforting because I was a wreck when I came in thinking it was the last time I'd see my kitty alive and he never made me feel foolish about it. By suggesting other options it says to me that Chatfield isn't just in it for a dollar, they want the best for you and your pet. Making the choice to euthanize your companion is never any easy one but doing it before its the right time is a terrible one. The other clinic i used to go to was much more expensive and frankly not as caring when it came to the heartache I've gone through taking care of my geriatric cat (who is a member of my family). I will continue taking my pets there because I know without a doubt they will receive the best care possible. Thank you Dr. Nemmers and thank you to the entire staff at Chatfield. Will never go back to this place. I was assisting my Mom in putting her 15 year old, blind, deaf and tumorous little Dachshund down and the already traumatic experience was made especially worse by the insensitivity of Dr. Ben Nemmers. After two of his vet techs were unsuccessful in finding a vein on her sick little dog, Dr. Nemmers comes in and proceeds to second guess my Mom's difficult decision to put her dog down. He tells her he wants to run some blood work and believes the only issue the dog has is Diabetes. He informs us that dog's live long happy lives being deaf and blind and that we need to understand how "permanent" this decision is. Really, we hadn't considered this? Who does this guy think he is? I am no animal doctor, but I do know that a 15 year old blind, deaf dog is probably on the very tail end of a productive life, but thanks for the session in guilt. Look, I get that this guy is running a business, but is this this most appropriate time to up-sell? His demeanor towards us during our contentious conversation started to seem as if he thought we were just out for a walk with the dog and thought: "hey, let's go kill mom's dog!" He was not giving her credit for struggling with this decision for months and not to mention, credit the struggles her little dog had been in for much longer than that. Perhaps costly Insulin injections for the next year would have saved the dog's life temporarily, but he wasn't offering any of this for free. His motives were transparent and insensitive to the point I felt compelled to offer up this review. I would hate for anyone else to have to endure this guy's lack of bedside manner during their time of need. For this reason, I will personally never return to this facility or recommend it to anyone I know. It is a shame that this is the case since the facility is literally located inside my neighborhood, but I would drive across town before returning to Chatfield Vet Hospital. read more

This vet is so great!! Their fear free techniques are incredible. Our dog is 9 years old and has had difficulty going to the vet since he was 1. He is terrified as soon as anyone starts to do anything to him (even listen to his heart, look in his ears). At most vets they just try to restrain him and that makes everything worse. He then fights harder out of fear to get away. This is the first vet ever that not only understands that, I didn't even have to mention that restraining him makes it worse. I just told them he is fearful and they never even tried to restrain him. With their techniques my dog made it through his whole appointment and even got vaccines. He barely even noticed! Usually he acts like his life is in danger he gets so scared when people force the procedures on him. At Chatfield he was happy and calm throughout. Amazing!!!! Our other pup goes to day care and they are really amazing with her as well. She also had some issues, where she can get overstimulated but they work with her so well and it has been amazing for her socialization. read more

We recently moved to Littleton. We have an 8 year old German shepherd and a German shepherd puppy. We've been very pleased with the treatment of both our animals. This is an excellent veterinary facility. I drive here from north Lakewood because I really appreciate the quality of care here. My dog's vet is Dr Harrington. She is very thorough and caring. She even called to check if my dogs medication was working. They offer acupuncture and they have doggie daycare and regular boarding with webcams of dog suites and the daycare outdoor play area. read more

Regular client for many years and love most of the staff and doctors. However, it seems some of the staff members have become disorganized, their work is sloppy and the customer service has declined dramatically. I've come into the office numerous times and am ignored by one of the older receptionists. I have to go up to the counter and actually speak to her before she will acknowledge me. This same receptionist does not communicate well and I have had to go and remind her I was still in the waiting room. It's then I will be told the doctor is running behind. I honestly don't mind waiting, but I would like to know what's happening and that I wasn't forgotten! There are a few great vet techs here, but one inparticular just doesn't know what she's doing. The last few times I brought my dog in she just seemed utterly confused. Couldn't get blood from my cat when he was going to have surgery. Told me the completely wrong information about a surgery my dog needed, which my doctor cleared up for me. I really do love this place! Three of the doctors (the man and the two blonds) are wonderful. They have always provided me with excellent knowledge and care for my pets and explain things very well. (The other doctor has poor "bedside" manner (Acts like she doesn't really cares and seems like she is always in a hurry.) and seems very flakey - but you can request who you like to use.) Chatfield just isn't the same as it used to be - it seems like a few staff members are bringing the whole place down and the long-term staff don't seem as outgoing and happy as they were a few years ago...... Can I have my old Chatfield back? read more

We bring both of our dogs here for daycare, boarding, and for annual check-ups/shots. We've had nothing but great experiences so far! Boarding may be a bit on the pricier side, but the dogs get their own little room and great personalized attention from the staff. The facility is impeccably clean and the front desk and boarding staff are awesome. I think this will be our vet as long as we live in the area. read more

Great Vets, the place is clean, the staff is friendly, the Doctors are caring knowledgable and nice. They schedule so that you are never kept waiting, and the waiting room isn't like a indoor dog park, in fact there is usually nobody waiting and you go right in. Prices are very reasonable, in fact the last time we bought supplements for our dog they were cheaper than Amazon! My dog loves going to the vet...which is the best recommendation I can give...GREAT PLACE! read more

Nice vets. Yet, they charged me 250$ for blood tests to screen my dog to be neutered, then they quoted my 650$ for a basic neuter. So they wanted a total of 850$ to neuter my dog, when Redstone does it for 450$ and they include a microchip for the dog. The women up front pick up the phone and hang up when they are busy. Had to call several times for the results of the blood test. I used to love this place. These insane prices have made me take my dogs elsewhere. read more

Could not be more pleased with the caring, compassionate, and excellent veterinarians and staff. They took such good care of our very ill cat. They tried to get her to eat by heating up cat food, and trying to hand feed her. They went above and beyond to take care of her. She had the best care possible. The pricing is reasonable, also. We took our dog in yo be neutered, they quoted us 300 to 500 on phone so we brought him in. After all done the bill ended up being over 725.00. Absolutely ridiculous, the staff could care less of our frustration with the double of cost and did nothing to make this right. This review is about 8 years overdue, but better late than never!! I cannot say enough great things about not only the doctors and assistants who work in the veterinary section, but also the team that runs the "Doggy Day Care" here. They are all truly animal lovers, and our 8.5 year old dogs have been members here ever since their very first "puppy" classes back in May of 2008. We have been taking all of our pets (5) of them to Chatfield Vet for 5 years now. Dr Crawford and all of the Dr's there are the GREATEST!! The staff is awesome and they go above and beyond the call of duty!! I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a kind and compassionate vet and staff.
