It's your standard "scary story" setup: Four skeptical grownups set out on a nighttime ghost tour,…read morealong with some well-meaning guides and about a dozen other foolish mortals (and their lousy kids), only to find themselves haunted by....nothing. The two guides showed up unprepared, with nary a spooky cape or creepy cloak amongst them. They rattled off ground rules about keeping the surrounding spirits happy, and then spent about twice as much time selling the books penned by their mentor who handed the tour off to them three years ago. That's right...THREE years ago! You would have thought this was their first time out! The stumbled and bumbled through a few stories about their friends who saw mysterious figures in the dark, previous tour groups who felt strange rumblings, and...something about a Persian rug that kept getting rolled up? I honestly lost track of that story mid-way through. The whole presentation had all the theatricality of home stereo installation instructions. I'm sure it's a fine distraction for the under-10 set, but good grief, guys! You're on a New England coastal island filled with empty beach cottages and 200 year old harbors! Tell me some historical pirate legends or the Tale of the Wandering Widow...Make something up! I'd rather have a complete fabrication that at least *sounds* interesting than the Utterly True Story of the Psychic Friend Who Felt a Presence Once. Needless to say, we left halfway through the tour, and the only "ghosts" we saw were the dead presidents that materialized on the money we wasted when paying for this ghastly tour.

My family and I recently went on the Edgartown ghost walking tour. The good news: it only cost 10…read morebucks. The bad news: it's not very good. Now, I have zero belief in ghosts, and am 100% skeptical about all things paranormal. 100% means that I think all of this stuff is complete nonsense. But I am one of those people who, while he may not believe in ghosts, sort of wishes there were, because that would be really cool! So I was more than willing to give this tour a chance to give me some mid-summer entertainment. Unfortunately, while the two tour guides--a man and a woman--seemed well-intentioned, they really weren't very good storytellers. The pacing of the tour was uneven, and there really weren't enough stories that sounded remotely plausible, let alone actually hair-raising. By her own admission, the female tour guide was skeptical of ghosts when she began doing the tours four years ago. That made me wonder: why the heck would you start a ghost tour business when you don't even really believe in the stuff?! Doing so seems extremely cynical, at best. And at worst, completely unethical. Regardless, she says that she now is a believer, based on the stories she's since heard. Whatever. One silly story involved the apparition of a recently deceased woman in the choir loft of an old church in full view of the people down below. Oh yeah, and then she vanished into thin air. Then there's the former editor of the Vineyard Gazette who disintegrated like a Star Trek character being teleported. (That was the actual comparison one of the tour guides made.) I believe his dog was involved, as well. But the pièce de résistance involved the famous fashionista Donna Karan, who allegedly was visited in her room at the stately Victorian Inn by not one, not two, not three, not four, but five, yes, five ghostly fishermen!! Oh yeah, and some old spirit who reached out and touched her boobies, making for a grand total of six specters in one impossible-to-believe-unless-you-have-suffered-a-head-injury-or-were-raised-in-a-prescientific-tribe-that-has-never-learned-what-critical-thinking-is anecdote.

I had emailed them on Wednesday asking for a reservation for Saturday night for 4. I received no response. I called them on Thursday, no response. I finally emailed them on Friday again asking for a reservation which was when they finally called me. They said details were to follow via email so we would know where the meet them. Well, Saturday at 1pm I still had not heard anything. I sent a followup email asking for the details. Then around 5pm I did it again and FINALLY received the information which was a one sentence response. When you check in you get your own personal lantern to carry for the tour. Which was just fun! Our tour guide was Tom Finn and he seemed like he hated being there on a Saturday night. He even seemed rather tipsy boarding on drunk. He didn't really tell us any ghost stories, mostly just history which is interesting but it said in the Groupon it was a "Boston Ghost and Lantern Legend Tour". We maybe heard 5 ghost stories and the best one was right before he ended the tour. Whenever he was done with the story, he would just start moving without any direction of where we were going and he seemed very all over the place and disorganized. The only two reasons it isn't a 1 star is because 1. We had great friends with us which made it fun. 2. I think it was just the tour guide who ruined it for us. The group that left before us the guy was making jokes and laughing with his group. Also I would suggest having smaller groups and more tour guides who leave 15 minutes apart so that the guests can actually hear the tour guide. I hope they improve because this has great potential to be an amazing fall activity.

I took this haunted tour last year and learned SO MUCH! My tour guide was Vicki and her enthusiasm…read morefor history was truly remarkable. She knows her facts about Plymouth history, the Pilgrims and dead folk. Being a sceptic of the paranormal, yet open to it's realness, I was watching and waiting for something spooky to happen. I am not saying it didn't, but my guide's intense conviction about people being seen or heard or shadows being noticed.... you get the point... was so clear I had no choice to look over my shoulder throughout the tour. The neatest part of this tour, for me, was that we actually walked with lanterns through graveyards and saw tombstones of historical figures. It was interesting to learn about the "who and what" of the 1600's. Truly fascinating and excellent job done by Vicki!

At 11:30am, Vicki called me to inform me that she was running late and to confirm the meetup location. On Spirit of Plymouth's website and Google, the address as listed as 1 Cordage Terrace Ext, but she said the meetup location was the See Plymouth office at 4 North St. We were already on our way so good thing we were just 5 minutes away from that address. We found a spot at a nearby public parking lot. I wish there was a confirmation the day before or earlier. Vicki, our costumed guide, showed up about 12:10pm and we were the only ones on the tour. As headed towards Pilgrim Memorial State Park, Vicki pointed out and talked about Dr. James Thacher's home, Spooner House, Mayflower Society House, Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock, William Bradford Statue, went up the stairs to see Massasoit Statue and Pilgrim Sarcophagus, overlooked Plymouth Immigrant Memorial in Brewster Gardens, First Parish Church in Plymouth, and lastly the Burial Hill Cemetery. Then, we walked back to our starting point. We finished the tour about 1:40pm. Vicki was very informative, personable, and knowledgeable. The walking tour for adults was $20.00 each and definitely worth it. I learnt so much.

The trip to Italy was planned several months in advance, we were traveling with another couple and we really had no idea how we could fit all our "wish list" into a reasonable 10 day vacation. Nancy's knowledge of European travel is above and beyond! She quickley realized what would work best for us within our budget, our must haves and our time constraints. I really could not put into words how wonderful this vacation was! Rome, Giglio, Cinqe Terre, Via Reggio and Pisa.... to name a few of the amazing locations we explored. Each hotel and all of our transfers were meticulously arranged. All we had to do was feast on the amazing food In restaurants and cafe's of our choosing! Truly the trip of a lifetime! Next, we signed up for a group trip through Nomadic Travel to Turks and Caicos, Club Med Turkoise. This was scheduled for February 2022 but as the trip approached, our concerns about Covid 19 had us postponing our trip. Nancy rescheduled everything for us for October 2022 and was able to assist my cousin and her partner in making reservations to join us as a surprise to my husband! We just completed this awesome getaway and everything was seemless. The few questions I had for Nancy about airport transfers, were answered within an hour of my correspondence. We look forward to meeting with Nancy in the near future to plan another European trip that is specifically designed for us! Visit her website or on Facebook for a look at upcoming trips being planned by Nomadic Travel Group, you won't be disappointed! Donna and Jim Buckley
