They have destroyed their loyal customer base, have no more proper coffee bars and nothing looks or tastes even remotely the same. In a world where they could have spent profits to improve their e-commerce and build a proper functioning website, they decided to turn each location into a "24/7" Canadian Amazon Fresh. The cafe offers decent coffee, free wifi, a fair amount of seating, huge windows for great natural light, and entertainment in the form of a steady trickle of neighbourhood characters and Vanier College types. Decor somehow triangulates between Italian nightclub (red and black pleather seating), Québec rustic (a few barrel tables and a fireplace), and high modern industrial (exposed HVAC and lighting). The overall vibe is relaxed and friendly. A great place to grab a coffee on the go or sip a latte and watch the foot traffic.

I talked to the barista a little too and he told me that you can ask for a stronger tasting espresso since their espresso machine allows them to customize the resulting flavor. Basically, if you want a bitter flavor or a milder one, you can tell them and they will be easily able to achieve it (it sounded way better when he explained it to me though...) Also, all their coffees can be made cold so if you have a hankering for something cold, you have plenty of choices. Another thing that I thought was super cute was that they sell earplugs at the cash! I think it's adorable and useful for those days where you forget your earphones and don't want to hear others around you. I will definitely be coming back to Perko Cafe :)

On this particular day, the community gathered for one of the World Cup games. It was very fun to witness. I've never thought to watch a game at a coffee shop EVER, but why not? Even passers by had to stop from across the street to try and catch a glimpse of the game. I made a very long journey for what some Yelpers claimed to be the best cannoli but it was the smallest thing I've ever seen! I guess that's a thing in MTL. Small or large. There was no option here, but another MTL bakery had that option. As opposed America where one size fits all --- XL always. Anyway, quite disappointing but tasted alright. I suppose it's hard to beat a cannoli from Boston's North End. The coffee was well made but wasn't worth the journey. Perhaps I just had such high hopes. The place doesn't look very charming but the products are always fresh and delicious. Their coffee is very good. You will taste real butter in their croissant and if you buy 6 of them you even pay less :). Instead of buying your bread from provigo, you could buy it from this small place and support a small business. The owner is always nice and warm to people. Taste their croissant in the morning, you will not regret! I buy it everyday! :)
