Café Olimpico landed on my radar via my brother. When he visited Montreal a few years back, he visited here and had good things to say. During my own research, I also learned this was a popular spot known for their high quality Italian pastries. Since we were in Mile End and looking for some coffee and carbs, we thought it would be a good place to check out, so off we went. The café sits on a corner among several other commercial businesses; the entrance catches the eye with a hunter green awning that dons the Olympic torch and rings, as well as some outdoor seating. The inside very much gives off Italian café vibes - it's a medium-sized open area with tables scattered throughout. The production counter sits to the left where orders are placed, and televisions with different sports are projected across the perimeter. In addition to this location in Mile End, they have three other locations. We definitely wanted to get some coffee, but I didn't want to leave without browsing their bakes so I was scanning what they had. They have a good variety of coffee beverages, as well as several pastries. I ultimately decided to get a cappuccino, and we split three bakes: a pistachio cornetto, a ricotta bomboloni, and an amaretto cookie. The bakes were good. The cornetto was filled with pistachio cream which is kinda played out due to the Dubai chocolate craze - but the cornetto was nice and airy with a good filling ratio. The bombolini was also good as was the cookie - really high-quality bakes all around. Service was good, and overall I really enjoyed my experience at Café Olimpico. The coffee and pastries were good, and the vibes are on. I wouldn't hesitate to return the next time I'm in Montreal. read more

The vibes in here are actually immaculate. I love the Olympic memorabilia and it's so cozy. The line was out the door but moved surprisingly fast, which was a plus. However... the drinks were a major "expectation vs reality" moment. My iced mocha literally looked like it came out of a slushy machine and the hot latte looked so sad and flat. Yes, as you can see in other reviews, it's a landmark place to visit! My husband and I first learned about this place through one of the Youtube videos we watched on where to go in Montreal. Maybe because like NYC Montreal is very pedestrian-oriented, cafe culture here is very strong too? Although it was much tinier than I expected, it is very cozy and abuzz with customers because of its coffee and pastries. DO try the one labeled "heavenly" - There is a reason for the name! And yes, it's right there on the corner of a bustling night life area of the Old City and open late. (My hubby and I are ok with coffee/caffeine at night and have no problem falling asleep, LOL! We loved this location. Convenient, right by the bagel shops. I got a delicious oat milk Cortado, and my husband got a cappuccino and a canoli. Definitely a good option in the neighborhood. They have a few other locations as well, but I liked this one. We've seen quite a longome at times, but weekdays it is better and we always wee able to find a seat. They had cookies and pastries like tiramisu and bombolones. I came here after seeing great reviews and pretty AND great drinks. That's what usually pulls you in. My iced mocha latte was good but it looks like it came from the slush dispensary (looking like a slushy machine) and oat milk was just added. Cool little coffee shop in the lobby of our hotel. Apparently lots of people gravitate here when hitting the Old Port. Honestly, it's worth the trip. The espresso they crank out is superb, as are the pastries. The Heavenly something or other was a a hybrid of a biscotti and meringue, soooooo good. Wanted an affogato but since it was late the gelato had been put to bed. They run out of pastries too, so if you want a goodie best to go earlier in the day. Only downside is that due to limited seating, most people get their Java to go, and there are tons of empty coffee cups littering the alley. Come for the ambiance alone - the stone walls and the tight space feel cozy and so old school European. The coffee was fantastic - not overly sweetened and you can taste the quality of the beans used! This is a cozy, small and quaint café located in Old Montreal and it's the perfect place to grab a hot drink or two and some pastries. Since it's a smaller café, it can be a challenge to grab a table, but the high tables by the windows offer a great view of the street to enjoy your drinks/pastries. Finally checked out Café Olimpico after all these years. They're an Italian cafe that's been around since 1970. There's two other locations in town (downtown and Old Port). We dropped in on a busy Saturday afternoon (around 3:30pm) and the line was backed up to the entrance. Baristas were friendly and efficient. Golf was playing on the TV's. Plenty of seating inside but the communal benches outside is where it's at. The drink menu is up on a few boards (behind the counter) and includes all taxes. They also offer gelato and a couple cake slices. - Latte freddo ($4.50) - B subbed for oat milk ($0.50). Basically an iced coffee, slushy style. Really good kick of caffeine. Delicious. - Bitter mix ($4.50) - lemon and peach slushy. Reminded me of a slurpee but lighter, less sweet and more refreshing. Perfect on a hot summer day. Way too sweet for my taste ( he overheard us talking about affogato, ended up making me affogato). My friend went with normal latte which is what I usual order. Next visit: I made sure I get a normal latte. Which was a much better choice. No syrups! Less sweet, nice and bitter like all my exes :P Cafe is also connected to a hotel: brand new modern architecture, hanging chandeliers, green plants wall. It's like night and day walking from the cafe to the lobby. Old world and new world together. Quite unique. I love this place. My family and I just got back from 3 days in Montreal. Our hotel was in Old Montreal about 2 blocks from Cafe Olimpico. Our hotel served breakfast on site, but they didn't have espresso and the like. So my hubby and I walked around the area to find my morning espresso. Cafe Olimpico is a small corner cafe, but it has plenty of space inside. They have a good variety of coffee drinks and Italian pastries. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And there is room to sit and enjoy your selections inside the cafe. I got a double macchiato, which was amazing. My hubby got an Americano coffee, which he really enjoyed. We tried a variety of pastries, which were so good that we bought extra to enjoy later on. My adult sons, in their 30's, got up late but wanted espresso too, so we sent them here. They were thrilled. Cake was mostly dry on the inside and the frosting too sweet. Cappuccino is very good, definitely on the bitter side, but it did balance out the sweetness of the carrot cake.
