I'm in for a few days from out of town and as Alanis Morissette said, isn't it ironic that I found the BEST hairstylist I have ever had here at Che Bella Salon. Lori is MAD SKILLED and I am so grateful to have discovered her while on vacation. She took one look at my pandemic locks and got a glint of genius in her eye. I feel like a million bucks but the cost of my makeover was definitely not expensive. For the cut, color, and highlights she gave me I would have paid at least 50% more back home, and let me just underscore that the quality would not have been on par with what Lori did for me. Topping it all off, like another reviewer (Avalon W.) said, Lori was the perfect mix of friendly but not intrusive throughout the interaction. Kind and normal, indeed! Also I enjoyed interacting with Kristin who was working next to Lori's station while I was there. She was such a sweetheart and gave me a free bottle of shine treatment which Lori applied for me at the end of my cut and color. I was convinced that I needed a keratin smoothing because I couldn't get my crazy frizz tamed but Lori has proven what I've read and heard but never experienced that with the right cut, I can actually love my crazy curls. I've lived in Santa Fe for several months and had some not very great experiences with two past hairstylists. Feeling very frustrated and apprehensive with trying yet another salon, I'm happy to say three times the charm! A friend had recommended that I try Che Bella and hairstylist, Lori. I'm so happy that I did. From the moment I sat in Lori's chair, I felt like I found someone who was listening to what I was looking for, and understood what I was hoping to change..Lori has many years of experience, and while she is incredibly knowledgeable, she is not someone who just does what she thinks is best, while acting like she's listening, she really hears you and works with you! I have found the best hair dresser in town (finally). Kristin at Che Bella is fantastic. I showed her a photo of what I thought may work for me, and she did exactly that. Chopped off close to 8 inches in a blunt cut bob and I just love it. I have never received so many compliments for such a short hair cut in my life. The 2 dogs in the salon were well behaved and in fact, shy due to the thunderstorms outside. From shampoo, cut and dry - I was out of there in 30 minutes. A friend recommended Kristin several months ago and I have to now recommend her to you. I've had two colors and one cut and she does really good work. My friends from home tell me my hair looks great. And better than all that, she did this great work while I was on chemo and lost half my hair. She was sensitive to my worries about my hair and took good care of me. She was also encouraging without being too over the top about the whole cancer thing. Now that I'm cancer free, she's giving me tips on how to get my hair back in shape. It's difficult to move to a new place and have to hunt up a decent hair stylist. Kristin does wonders. I'm telling you there's no stylist out there that can compete. Unfortunately for my hair, I moved to Eugene, Oregon and am only able to have her fix my hair (from all the other bad cuts and color I've been through since trying to find a replacement) when I make it to Santa Fe for vacations. I'm beginning to think that having been spoiled by the perfect cut and color by Kristin, the bar has been set far too high and I may need to move back or find more vacation time and stop trying to find a replacement stylist. I've been seeing Kristin for 12 years. She's a true professional. Santa Fe RUDE! Yes there are stylist out there that can go all Diva on you, but this is Santa Fe for G*d's sake, not New York! So 24 hours in advance of my daughter's appointment, I left a message that I needed to change her cut and color to just a cut. So later on I answer the phone and said "Hello" and Kristen starts yelling at me! Not kidding here. I wasn't canceling the appointment, I was CHANGING it and she was having a cow! ONE - were dealing with a teenager who's never had a color before, was undecided, and Kristen knew this. TWO - Her time is JUST as important as MINE. I just don't care that she now has 30 minutes open. That's part of doing business. (And who colors in 30 minutes anyway? Does that mean she rushes through it while taking care of two other customers? Probably.) I guess I need to find someone who understands what Customer Service means, as it doesn't seem to mean anything here... Especially for $150! read more

I like stylists who are straight with you and will tell you when an idea just doesn't look right. I love when a bad thing turns out GREAT! I have trust issues with my hair, really I do. I had been totally loyal to my stylist in LA for years, so when I moved to town recently I tried to be very cautious about finding a great salon. I had been going to another salon in town that I wasn't totally thrilled about, but I was still willing to give them another chance. That was until they completely bailed on my appointment that I had booked a week in advance. No phone call, no email, nothing. I showed up at my time, and the door was locked and the lights were out. I was peeeeeeved, as I had scheduled my day around that appointment and had rescheduled my own clients. Well I wasn't giving up. I live right by Che Bella so I decided to give a shot in the dark and SURE enough, Steven was kind enough to give me a full color treatment and a sexy bang trim on the spot before his next client. Not only that, but I ADORE the color, it is beyond perfect and exactly to the caliber that my stylist in LA does. He is new in town, from Los Angeles as well. Also, I am sensitive to Chemicals, and the Salon did not offend me at all. I did not leave with red eyes, to the contrary I left feeling relaxed, happy, and pampered. My friend and I were visiting Santa Fe recently and I needed to find a Hair Salon because I'd been traveling for weeks. My hair needed a cut and color. I only use Goldwell color and carry my formula with me; you might say i am particular about this. With the right Google search and lots of luck. Kristen and Che Bella were listed as a possibility. Since the salon was on the same street as the hotel, i decided to make an appointment there. So very very glad I did! Kristen is great, the salon is great, my cut is great and the color is what i have come to expect. My friend decided to make an appointment with Isabel for a mani-pedi and she came out all shiny and bright, fingers and toes.
