Shadie and her coworker (I regret not catching her name) were in early for me at 9am, were so very gentle with my hair from washing to blowout,and were genuinely friendly and kind. I went to Lynn Antoinette for 14 months and then I quit her. Because: She stopped listening to me about what I wanted. She never learned about my curly hair. Continued to give me haircuts for straight hair. Doubted that I was telling her the truth about how I treated my hair. Once she shrieked at me. *She rescheduled my appointments, at least five times for personal reasons/kids. * She changed salons at least three times. * complained about her bosses , coworkers, & even other clients. ~ But when I read a recent review at the time on Yelp with an experience similar to mine ~~Right then and there I decided I'm never going back to her. Especially when I read her irate reply. So full of herself. She had actually complained about clients to me before . I then realized she had mentioned this persons review to me, and was fuming about it during my last cut. I did like her at first, & shes probably great for a one time haircut. Overall, she never really listened because she gave me basically the same haircut every single time , no matter what I said. It wasn't all bad sometimes she'd have an idea and I'd go for it and then it would be fine. So, if it was her idea, I would get something new , only then. I never instruct hairdressers how to cut my hair I just tell them what I want. The time she shrieked at me I can only guess that she misunderstood what I said. It was a long time ago, but I said something like I don't like this part falling into my face and she shrieked- I can't make your hair longer. I can only cut it. Yeah that's what I was asking. It ain't easy finding a good stylist for local resident who needs one about every six weeks. So leaving-wasn't what I really wanted. She didn't want me to go. She continued to call me to find out what had happened why I hadn't come in. I never gave her an explanation. This was six years ago. A lot can change in six years. I'm sure she's fine for some people, but, for me she had bad energy and I'm happier now. I moved to town recently; finding a new stylist is always daunting. Antoinette did a great job on my highlights and achieved a light, cool tone that I requested. My hair hadn't been done in about 4 months and she made it look beautiful. She also applied a slightly darker toner at the roots to help the grow-out not look so harsh. I typically get my color done every 2-3 months (I'm cheap), so I appreciate that she was deliberate about giving me a color that would have a good lifespan. If you've had bad highlights done (where they look stripe-y and harsh because the stylist painted on bleach like a robot), you'll appreciate the thoughtful application and beautiful finish that Antoinette creates. I had my hair cut by Lleah and she did a really great job giving my thin hair layers of volume. Because I had so much hair to cut (11 inches) I wanted to donate it and she took the time to braid it into different sections for donation. She was also non-judgmental about my lack of hair maintenance and helped make it so much healthier. I thought it was affordable for the amount of services and the professional look at the end ($72 for a long haircut, I believe they start at $65). Antoinette is AMAZING. Get ready for some serious gushing. I made an appointment at Style Labb when I was traveling in Santa Fe -- nervous to try out a new stylist. Antoinette knows her stuff. She's great at what she does; she knows a lot about the line of products she uses. Her salon is stylish and intimate; Antoinette is funny, smart, and sweet, just a delight to spend time with while she does your hair. First, when I asked, she gave me her opinion and advice -- all of which is spot-on. Lots of people go to a salon knowing exactly what they want, but I wanted to experiment with style and color, and I wanted someone who could look at my face shape and hair texture and give me advice. Antoinette did exactly that. At first, the color didn't turn out right because my hair wouldn't take the dye, but she did it AGAIN until it came out the way I wanted, which is a hot, fun, fushia/purple. SO many people have complimented me on it, even random strangers in the airport on the way home! : ) Plus, because my hair didn't take the dye right away, I was with Antoinette for a long time. Like, hours. She was so patient, never made me feel like a burden, and spending time with her was just a joy. I called and asked if I could make an appointment with Antoinette because I'd seen online that she wasn't taking new clients. The receptionist said she could still book me an appointment with her. She said to hold on while she asked Antoinette about whether the appointment would fit into a certain day. I could overhear the conversation and Antoinette's incredibly brusque voice saying she was only accepting new clients with referrals, ie if you knew someone who currently saw her, as if she was running some VIP club. I asked the receptionist if she could make an exception since she had already said she could book the appointment and again I overheard Antoinette snap no at her. It wasn't the receptionist's fault- an owner who uses one tone with her staff and- I'd be willing to bet- quite another with her clients is not someone I want to support, even if she had let me, which she most assuredly did not. Lynn: Are you not taking new clients period or are you only taking referrals? Because your receptionist told me I could only get in if I "knew someone." I thought maybe the info about you not taking new clients on your website was outdated, that's why I wanted to do my due diligence and check over the phone. Nothing entitled about it. Your receptionist seemed not to know either way. Seems like there was a miscommunication there between you and her. And I misspoke- you speak to the public just as rudely as you did to her. After my request for a reasonable accommodation (which most other businesses have no issue with), she cancelled my second appt., and abruptly hung up on me to make her point. There were certainly more graceful ways to handle the situation. My appt. with Ileah was cancelled, and Ileah had no say in the matter. Seems like she needs a revenge on the world. - Her work: didn't get past the consult - The consult: 3 minutes, very cold and weird attitude. - I found out about the consult "protocol" during the consult, even tho she had a chance to do that when we were emailing back and forth prior to consult - stated that she can't do her job (color mixing accuracy) on the spot without prep, unlike the 100% of hairdressers that I've met in my life of 40 years, from ok ones to amazing ones. I mentioned that if she didn't get it right the first time, it was totally ok. It's a simple strawberry blonde on a dark blonde base that needed to be lightened up a bit. - I called 5 minutes after stepping out saying that I found color references in my phone, and that I was right outside the salon. I was told by front desk that she didn't have time for me (even tho the consult lasted 3 minutes). Debatable but this was literally 10 minutes tops from the time I showed up. - receptionist was unwilling to find a solution, didn't want to reschedule another consult, and made me cancel my appointment on grounds that the consult was incomplete because of me and it was specified on the website to bring references (lie = I double checked). I went down to Albuquerque the very next day, got what I wanted for way cheaper, without a consultation. I guess when you're decent at your job in a small town, you can get away with acting like you're doing the client a favor to do their hair and make them feel bad for a fuck up that resulted from a failure on your part to communicate your needs. read more

Lynn is awesome! She was able to squeeze me in post thanksgiving to tame my unruly hair. She has a calm and easy going demeanor and I felt at ease discussing what I wanted done. My hair is hard to manage and most stylists have a hard time giving it much shape or style but Lynn studied my head and explained what she was doing and with ease and finesse transformed my lifeless hair into a stylin' textured cut that now has body and movement! Unfortunately Lynn has lost her focus and this might not be the right time for Style Labb. I should have realized that her head was not in the game when she forgot all her smocks at home where she does laundry for the salon. Then instead of combing my normal color all the way through, she ups the color from soft natural light brown to black brown. I've never had such dark hair before. I strive for a natural look and have no idea how Lynn thought this was natural and for my husband to remark about it, tells me just how bad it is. We might have caught the problem if she had shared the new color she had chosen. Then when called later in the day because my husband complained about how cheap it looked, no return call. Perhaps Lynn is too caught up in her personal life to conduct herself as a professional let alone try and fix the color. Obviously she is not interested in building a business with repeat business. I will not even get into the quality of cut let alone the flat top she blew dry that came out of left field as it was neither fitting for my face or anything that she had done on me the two times before. Either she is completely incompetent or going through a bad patch in life as she is willing to share ad nausea.
